Well, that presumes that skill is the only determining factor in belt promotion. Your belt does not come as a measuring stick for your skill, rather it may come as a reward for your skill as well as character and personal development or even understanding the spirit of BJJ, each playing a deciding factor in a promotion.
Well, that is true - but you don't wanna be the brown belt who is repeatedly getting roughed up by blue belts otherwise there is something out of place regardless of how great your 'character' is. Obviously if older brown belt then that's diff.
Same goes to Gianni Grippo, he should be a blackbelt but since he switched to Alliance recently he needs to prove his commitment before getting his blackbelt.
Galvao is in that rare class of guys that can play stand-up, top bottom, all guards and seem to be in his element. No distinct game. Only other two that I see like that are Rodolfo and Buchecha.
Oh man, keenan almost got knocked out. Glad no one got any black eyes here or any cuts. That was a close one. I thought for sure I was gonna see some blood squirting in this fight.
Really? I tend to think that Marcelo Garcia is better than the guys you just mentioned and I love Buchecha and Rodolfo by the way. I think Garcia is in a class ALL BY HIMSELF.
Moral character is not equivalent to showing commitment to a particular BJJ team. Your argument is not logically structured, nor are your implications (learning mount and equating it to a 2 stripe white belt) clearly understood. I'm not ruining BJJ by contesting your basic premise, and I'm not neglecting the fact that character counts. What I am saying is that BJJ team politics should not play a factor in determining skillsets suitable for the black belt. Quit playing games with the insults.
Shit. I've been watching so much Mendes brothers lately that I almost forgot how fucking good Galvao is.
bro, the matrix splicing was fucking perfect for this!
I think Keenan's been humble and respectful, it looks like he wasn't pushing too much.
pretty amazing from both.
i acctually played back several times to see how gavao managed to achieve side control so fast in the first roll.
awesome thanks for sharing!
thanks a lot
Cheers, mate! Oss
galvao is amazing
Keenan has very good body movements. Nice match.

He needs to prove his commitment to the team (Atos), sure he is a Black Belt level fighter, however the Black Belt extends beyond that.

Galvao is a black belt among black belts
9:24 guy gets head butted in the jewels!!! ouchie
To win shit. He should have been A blackbelt after the first year of sweeping all those comps. Lloyd Irvin is just about medals!
Dig the tunes, lots of stuff from when the harder styles of dubstep were still fresh and not generic garbage.
best place in the world! somebody knows the song playing at 4:00 and 6:35 ?
They would feel like they are, if you ever rolled with them.
Now a black belt signifies commitment to a team? UGH
9:24 lmfao!
music name at 4:00 and 6:35 ????
The Matrix intervals are wonderful.

What the hell is up with the matrix scenes???
I know it's not competition, but interesting how Glavao passed his guard and Jesus boy had a hard time.
Keenan is no Neo and Andre is no Morpheus.
linamunisi And Neo is no Neo and Morpheus is no Morpheus.
That's such a copout and political answer. BJJ doesn't need close minded old age thinkers like you.
that juxtaposition may be the corniest thing I've ever seen. was it done because cornelius looks like that scraggly kid?
