There’s no chance of this line ever reopening, but it would make for a great cycle track and walkway.

In reality it was a disaster, a freight line that never did much and Bala was an oddball end of line, at a station that was manufactured to bring it closer to the town from Pen y Bont. In those days labour was cheap and I mean cheap, it would never have happened today. The real routes where to the sea and sadly that had already been done. I love your idea of scanning the routes. Many thanks.

Just found this. It's brilliant, thanks very much, I followed it the whole way and recognised places. The viaduct between Trawsfynydd and Bala didn't come out well, it being a 3D image made from a 2D image but the rest of it came out well. Is this Google Earth? I haven't got that. You've got a spelling mistake in title, it's Corwen. Anyway, thanks.

Most intriguing, l have been driving from Nottingham to Porthmadog since 1969, last trip 2019, and have been fascinated by the glimpses of this route for all those years!

@@tomd544 it’s a rather magical part of the world for us, wife and I have times beyond number but we always see something new. We have been in all seasons of the year. I’m 80 years old now but hoping to. Go in the new year. Regards

@@peterhunt2723 Absolutely, my favourite bit is Cwm Prysor, the remains of the halt, viaduct and the trackbed along the ledge of the Arenig mountains, must have been breathless in it's day.
