Obraztsova is grandiose, her voice sounds like an Erfurt organ, the palette of colors of her voice is unique. Verrett is wonderful. Abbado is a genius.
Beautiful to listen to and beautiful to watch! So moving to hear and see Verrett and Obraztsova, representing contrasting races and nations, blending wonderfully in Verdi's only sisterly duet!
This piece was chosen to be played by my father at his funeral in Dec 2020. His coffin was taken up the aisle of the church . His two daughters walked behind. A sisterly duet.
Hey there! I'm a bass as well (I found a comment of yours on Laura Claycombs video), and I was just wondering if i could ask a question? I was wondering how you're now thinking of breath support? In your question, you referenced having more involvement in the lower, pelvic floor regions- and i gotta say, I have found that that does greatly enrich my voice. I just find it a hard balance to strike (keeping my concentration on the rib cage, and it staying buoyant, while also having extra awareness in p.f. region and thinking 'down in the saddle'). It seems the gospel nowadays is to make the ribs the focal point (i watch a lot of thomas hampson's masterclasses and he stresses this it seems), moreso than this lower region, and I was just interested in where you've ended up landing on the topic. By the by, I sent this as a p.m. as well (not entirely sure how to use youtube's messaging!). Thanks for listening, and all the best to a fellow bass! Jeff
Unfortunately With today’s white and tiny opera voices, people are not used to big and large voices like Obraztsova’s with timbre and colors, as well as a real chest voice !
@@raphaelpisano5462 Shirley did not have a tiny nor white opera voice. Listen again and use your ears. Listen also how Shirley gives the words their due as well as following the music.
unbelievable - the voices even swing / vibrate in unisono. sheer vocal AND musical beauty. thank you for sharing.

I don't really care how this is going to sound ( deep respects to Mozart, predecessor) But, no one should bother to compose a Requiem after Verdi's.
Dvorak and Faure might have something to say. : )
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Oh I am sure! 🤣
@@Nacidodelmar especially Faure.
Britten did a fine job of writing a requiem.
Реквием Верди это вершина всей музыкальной культуры, я так считаю никому не навязывая...

Dude is looking like “she’s a snack!”🤣
Never liked Obratsova. She over-colours the voice.
She got over it
What does _that_ mean? Over-colours?
Shirley Verrett is magnificent but Elena is awful.

Oh, pity they didn't call you to sing there instead of Elena Obraztsova... lol

@John Michael RodriguezShirley Verrett is no mosquito.
@@TenorDmitry Oh what a pity, that you can't tell the difference between a solid voice like Verrett vs Obraztsova. Hopefully, you will one day. :)
