Im just a skateboarding fan, im 38 , never done a trick in my life, but this guy has something special. Ive heard Rodney Mullen comparisons latley ... that happens when you do this all day every day, learning, practicing, pushing. This guy is amazing.
What a beautiful video, thanks, Jonny. As you mentioned, failure is a part of life and allows us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes. While perhaps I did not learn this from skating, it was definitely reinforced during my many years of kicking and pushing.

Unfortunately there is still a generation that was programmed to see skateboarders as punks and criminals. I'm old enough to be in the first skateboarding generation (hint, I met Rodney in Santa Cruz when I was 13 and he was still a teenager), so we are nearing the end of the "skateboarding is a crime" generation being a problem.
Big Brother and Jackass and that whole era turned me off skating even as a skater myself. So bro'd out and obnoxious. Skating getting famous for really toxic stuff. I love that skateboarding is becoming more positive and welcoming again, like Jonny, just all good vibes. Andy Anderson, so chill, such an incredible skater, but so humble, love that vid of Nicole Hause taking him to school on backside 180 airs...Love everything about Krux..Good times

Cheers, I love watching you skate. I really like that in your other video you show all of the eyelids and arseholes that go into making the sausage too. My own skating goals are pretty limited, I've started skating again at 42 just as a way of going around with my 4 year old on his little bike. I'd just like to be able to ollie over and obstacle, which I always lost my balls with as a kid even though I could ollie really high stationary! I'd also like to one day land a kickflip... I reckon these two goals are achievable when my little one is skating properly and we spend more time on it - we've just got him his first board and he's learning to ride it up and down in the hallway in the house

I'm 46 and just got back in deep for the first time since my late 20's. I have some friends who still skate but they're like "man I just love cruising around and carving". I'm like nah I'm gonna learn treflips and relearn kickflips and heelflips heh maybe over ambitious. First month back has just been like oh shit I have no leg muscles, lots of elliptical and leg exercises. Now I'm doing kicklfips better than I ever could before and landing frontside shove-its and 360 shove-its which I had never done before. I kinda forgot how to have fun after my dad died, mom got cancer, mf Trump made my country lose its mind. I swear skating made me rediscover joy when nothing else did

Perfect video to open the new year, basically a comp of the cleanest and most picturesque lands in Jonny's endless supply of footage. Only Jonny can get away with calling primos, a 1-wheel manny, some truckstand stuff, all among some other funky tricks "less weird". Also, to be fair, it's hard to have a trick look bad if they're all that clean . . . and in front of some of the most beautiful mountains anywhere on the planet, but definitely hit home on the nice looking tricks part regardless :)

Love the setups at 2:00 and 7:08 in particular, that's the kinda thing I would always do with my Skate (the game) shoots - those nice wide open shots that really emphasize the place as well as the skater. Just beautiful. And the 4:02 one *really* makes me want to see a late flip with your board covered.. leaves, glitter, flour, flowers.. something!

I can’t skate at all. Never have been able to. But the amount of admiration I have for the skill and dedication it takes to do some of this tricks is sky high. It really is a work of art. I wish skateboarding was given more recognition and I’m so glad it has come into the Olympics to hopefully grow in more.

thank you for this. i feel really bad recently and it's a really hard time for me. i;m injured since june and can't skate for at least two more months. it's a really bad knee injury i got from learning hardflips. two of them had hit my knee in the same weird spot and now im unable to bend my left knee for more than 40 degrees with no pain. it's a really hard time for me. but thank you for this video, Jonny. you made me remember about all the great things in this sport and let me repurpose my thoughts a bit. just thank you

Mike vallely had a documentary called “drive” that made me really appreciate skateboarding as an art form instead of whatever I thought it was previously. I used to skate as a kid but sucked so bad at it, I really wish it was something I had the talent for. At the very least I’d love to be a skate videography/photographer.

A love affair that's lasted most of my lifetime. Started skating in 1984. Still skate every day. I'm not totally sure, but I think it was Lance Mountain that said, "You don't stop skating because you got old. You got old because you stopped skating." I'm going to skate until I physically can't do it any more. Great vid man. Awesome. ❤
