Yo this had me cracking up the whole time. Came from spotify just to comment. This trio has great chemistry, id love to see everyone back. Love the fight talk.
I thought they meant yoshi the animated character when saying he was ethnically ambiguous, Chinese and Indonesian I was like I can imagine it. I come to realize later in the podcast they’re talking about a human lol
I think the reason why chinese mainlanders didn’t take this casting too well was that it’s often believed American media always casts people through an ‘orientalist’ view, and look for people that they believe suits the typical Asian aesthetic. This wasn’t received well mainly because of the stereotyping of Asians to fit into the western perspective, as mentioned in the Asian boss video they didn’t think he was ugly instead they mentioned that Hollywood doesn’t really consider casting ‘non conventional’ For example actors with double eyelids, tall nose.. that doesn’t exactly fit into the chinese stereotype
37:02 whenever I think of that part or it's mentioned, my mind automatically goes to Noel Miller talking about it and going, "act guilty, bitch!" The second is him talking about the guy's brother, who had the most blunt reaction to it lmao
Hey David, I was hoping if you could get Philip wang from Wong fu on this podcast. I know he was on Bart and geo’s podcast. I hope you could talk to him about Asians in film and maybe even the struggles of getting his product out there.
Yoshi Sudarso, @yoshi_sudarso. He can be seen in a number of videos on David So's channel (my favorite being his stunt training with him) including one GeniusBrain podcast.
Stephanie Soo has a great episode on the Abducted in Plain Site guy. If anyone is interested/doesn't want to watch the entire documentary: th-cam.com/video/GyKtQjpnqiA/w-d-xo.html
It's funny, in a world where you lose everything for a single word, how could you lose respect for someone that makes that much money for a few minutes of "humiliation"?
