I was discouraged from taking lessons as a kid because I have CP and couldn't use the pedals. Now I'm a middle aged mom and decided to learn how to play and hit that pedal on my terms. Your adaptation reminds me a bit of Sure Grip push/rock hand controls. Really ingenious!
This is a great adaptation! I have footdrop/neuropathy in my right foot (and amputation on left side) and I am currently experimenting with various orthoses to try to regain control of the pedal rather than thumping my whole leg up and down. But if my adaptations don't give me adequate control at the ankle, I would be very interested in a device such as this. I see in comments below you're trying to get photos/plans/designs together for us all and I look forward to this!
Hi Pat, awesome device. If you do manage to find any plans or drawings of this device then it would. be great to see them if at all possible. I'm a double amputee from England who has just started learning the piano so an adaptive device such as this is very much on my wishlist! Cheers.
This is amazing!! Does your friend ever make more of them? I have a lot of nerve damage and my feet can’t move and I’ve been trying for years to find a pedal adaptor! Ps, you are super cute 😩
I've just seen this video after searching for months on ways to adapt my piano sustain pedal. I have no feeling in my feet due to neuropathy and have been playing the piano for 32 years and used to teach. I can no longer play much as it causes too much nerve pain to use the pedal, which my foot falls off a lot as I can't place it. 3 years on from this video and I wonder if you have the plans yet as I have someone who could build one for me.
Verry nice work!!! Do you maybe have drawings or a little more details about the device. I've got a leasie, but trying to learn playing the piano, and maybe tips could work for me too! Thnx in advance!!!
I don't have anything right now...but hopefully in the future I can find time to pass along some drawings / photos / plans for making a device of your own
I am paralyzed and just purchased an antique grand piano a few weeks ago. I have limited movement in my leg, but discovered that the damper on a grand is just too "grand" for me, unlike the electric piano I used. I am looking for someone who can make me one of these knee levers! I wonder if anyone knows how I can reach Ira Newborn, and if he has been making these? I have a piano technician who is looking at making one, but it would be great if anyone knows somebody who actually DOES this. Thank you so much, Patrick. Now, if only I could play as well as you do......
Hi...Ira got the ball rolling but he didn't build it. It was another guy. If he and I can find the time, I'd love to be able to pass along some plans / drawings so you can try building one of your own.

I've talked to the person who made the pedal. We should be able to post some plans/drawings in the near future.
@@patrickdanderson Do you have the plans/drawings, anything that would help us create one of these?
Also, I enjoy your playing.🙂
nice! you're playing's great too, the ballad you were playing sounds beautiful :)
Thank you very much!

It was just a one-off project :(

What a clever design! If there are prototype blueprints please share :)
I'm totally paralyzed from the chest down. Do you know of any adaption that I can use for my upper body or head? Where can I get one of these?
