What I like about your project is to salvage old parts and use them..But my friend, your dc to dc booster boosts voltage momentarily. As soon as load is a connected, capacitor discharges at once, finally voltage collapses. In order to have constant higher voltage, you have to press the switch very rapidly at around 100 kHZ rate which is impossible. So use pulse generating circuit and MOSFET in your circuit which can do switching action at hundreds of kilo Hertz. However helpful.
