He was awesome. Most kind of recognize the stretch drive, and finish line winners, but he was magnificent even in what would be insignificant parts of a horse race. "AP Indy is in an all out drive", is great, but even the way he says "Jolies Halo and Thunderrr Rumbleeee" at the beginning is just beautiful. Its corny but Tom Durkin didnt just call horse races, he told a story during them. Apologies to greats like Dave Johnson, Trevor Denman, Marshall Cassidy, and others, but Tom Durkin was THE greatest announcer of all time, and it wasnt even close.
I had two horses for the 1992 derby.. AP Indy and Arazi.. AP Indy was a late scratch on derby day.. and Arazi was never the same horse after surgery... but AP Indy remain one of my favorite of all time..
Great horse. Arazi wasnt the same horse, but he did make another power move in that 1992 Derby. Just flattened out though. The move that horse made the year before in the Juvenile is one of the most breathtaking ive ever seen in 35 years of watching the horses.

The American bettors are weird: in 1992 Jolypha started at 16/1 and will logically finish 3rd ...... the following year, in 1993, Arcangues who was of the same coach and who was much better than Jolypha on the sand, left for 269/1 and won significantly!?!? Unexplainable and unforgivable error ....
RIP A.P. Indy. Once in a generation talent if you're lucky. $2.9 million yearling purchase, champion on track and breed-shaping stallion.
Greatest sire of his generation. You will find the name AP Indy in pedigrees until the end of time ❤
We thought we had a once in a generation talent but it turned out to be the other 3-year-old
rest in peace A.P. Indy you lived a long great peaceful life. will miss you buddy...
RIP AP Indy!! One of the best race horses and one of the best stallions in history, you will be missed ❤💔
wow. that was beautiful. what a great horse. he's chillin now at Lane's End farm, loving the nice weather this week
AP Indy, son of the great Seattle Slew, heart and grit like Dad :)
My God, Tom Durkin could call a race.
He was awesome. Most kind of recognize the stretch drive, and finish line winners, but he was magnificent even in what would be insignificant parts of a horse race.

Yes he could but in this race he failed to mention one horses name and that was Twilight Agennda

Great observation.
The 1a who finish 3rd is really small ...
3rd place was the filly named Jolypha
