    This is a superb layout... I spent much of my youth fanning the 2cd and 3rd districts of the famous rat hole division... This layout captures that something special many strive for, to rekindle the memory of being trackside or operating a segment of line at a place and time. It really takes me back to a place along the rat hole, Nemo, TN. With such accurate recreation of the tunnel portals and bridges, signature elements of this line post the '40's rebuild.
    The SuperTrees installed so densely captures the required effect, but what I find so effective is the shallow relief or "mountain flat" backdrop effect. I've got to try that after seeing it used so well. Photo backdrops do wonders but still have some difficulty hiding the edge of the modeled world. Where I believe the use of the modeled scenery flats on near vertical surfaces against the photos may be best in force the illusion.
    Nice layout, and well captured with a great video... Thoroughly enjoyed... twice so far :)

    Great scenery! Looks just like it. This might be the only pure Southern Railway System model railroad I've seen. I've never been to thae Rathole, but seen vids from the cab of a Norfolk Southern engine, traveling through there. Passenger service through The Rathole, south to Atlanta (my home) ceased early 1970 with the end of the Cincinnati/Atlanta, "Royal Palm." I just subscribed. Want to keep up with this.

    whats is the diameter of the helix?

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      All helix's on this rr are greater than 36" Some go out to 40" Big space eaters. but in mushroom layouts they are just part of it.

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      All helix's on this rr are 36 plus some I know go out to 40"

    Why do photographers always follow engines and miss the impact of all of the train? Thank goodness for long tunnels obscuring the engines long enough to see the consist !!!

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Video is about the RR and following the engine shows the RR if you allow a whole train to pass then you will have to stop back up train to get the RR where you left off. This RR will have tons of video on it as long as I am alive to shot it. Have more in the can now just have to put it together.
