  • Some tips and some inspiration on how to make rusty cast iron stove...look fresh and shiny and also with new furnace stove cement. Jøtul 600 is very small Norwegian stove. Only 45 cm long and 30 cm wide and 61 cm tall...with 120 mm smoke tube standard...straight up or on the back alternatives. Show some passion, go to action and make your stove " new ". There is beauty in old cast iron and if used with sense and care...and knowledge...it can be your friend almost forever ! :-) Nothing better as heat source...than the heat from an wood burning stove. It is a greate gift from nature and the most humans finds pleasure and comfort and also maybe inner kind of peace... from the heat and the sounds the soves gives.... Jøtul or Jotul in english is a world famous stove brand from Norway...started in 1853 in union with kvaerner...but splited into own company in 1927. The model slightly bigger than Jotul 600...is Jotul 602 and it came into marked about ca.1935... and is the most sold and copied box stove in the world. Still produced, but now with secondary burning patent inside. More climate friendly ...and with glas door.

Great job! What are you using to clean up the excess stove/gasket cement? Currently rebuilding a Jotul 118 (Green, 1975)

Hi ! It is not paint....but polish ! Stove polish. Many types out there to buy...and the one i used was super good...from www.biltema.no. But unfortunatly they stopped to sell that type and replased it with one that has old recipe and is more dull...but it works. This one gave a very shiny surface and made it better to sell the stove...as it looked astonishing good ! :-)
