For some language enthusiasts out there, Kathoey is a broader term, and Saw Pra Peth Song (Saw Song for short) falls under the Kathoey umbrella term. Basically, if you are feminine and gay, you can call yourself Kathoey, but if you are transgender, you are Saw Pra Peth Song, though some still call themselves Kathoey. Some Kathoey don't want to transition. Kathoey actually originated from a word used to describe intersex people, but the meaning has changed over time. In my opinion, the acknowledgment of genders other than male and female created space for a third gender in Thailand a long time ago.
I'm don't agree with that. I think gay in Thai means a man who's love a man and don't want to change their sexuality to be a girl. (Beside that Thai people not including lesbian in gay people. In Thailand if you call gay, it's only mean for male loving male.) If a boy want to be a girl but not changing their sex yet, In Thailand he will be called "Toots" or "Tootsies". For Ka-Toey accually it's meaning Ladyboy (trangens woman) that already had sex changing under surgery, had long hairs, had artificial boobs. But some people also call 'Toots' who very feminine 'Ka-Toey'.
Katoey used to be a derogatory term for Thai Trans women, so Sow Song is what someone seems more polite (but there’s still some sense that Trans women aren’t accepted as Cis-women so there’re some people advocating not to assume what to call them) The interesting part is there’s stigmatization towards them that they always be funny (which I personally think humor might become their option to cope with discrimination), but their humor finally reclaim Katoey word to identify themselves. There is even a part of the song that goes, P’Katoey told me not to cry, which actually distorted from the original one (The song is Recall by BOWKYLION), but it became went so viral that many trans allies (especially in afab individuals) come to share their stories online when they’ve been empowered by Trans women in bad times, and they start to call Trans women as P’Katoey (P’ is a prefix to call who’s older) as a praise as they’re always supporting us like a sisterhood. For what it's worth, I'm grateful for Thailand and the whether it is the unconditional love or positive human connection we're willing to give each other. Why treat someone poorly just because they wanted to speak for they/themselves (see what I did there lol). I'm straight as a ruler but I'm telling you now. In Thailand, your voice will always be heard! Deep down we are all human, all the same flesh and blood. I've heard that some parts of Thailand are still anti-gay or transgender, but I was born and raised in Bangkok, and my entire family tree, including my mother's great-grandfather, is from Bangkok. I have no problems at all. At 14, I told my family that I was gay, and my mother was surprised, saying, "Really?" Does this mean I won't be able to hug your baby? I said, "Even though I'm straight, you know I'm not going to have a baby," and she laughed. My father drops my boyfriend off at school every day bc he studies at a different school from me. all my friends are straight males and they didn't believe me at first, but they are ok, like when we travel somewhere and we have to share a bed, they always try to sleep with me. I think it bc somehow they think gays have more hygiene than straight males which I guess it's not true at all.
Sis, you are gorgeous! I made TH-cam videos too YEARS ago I gotta get back into it but how wonderful to see a gorgeous sister looking like a model and living her best life out and about. Seriously, I’m so proud of you and I genuinely mean that ❤ P.s. what was up with that other trans woman you talked to and when you said by to each other she rolled her eyes and looked OVER IT. Lolll aww hell nawwww hahahah 😂
Hi, Dency! This video somehow got recommended on my home page but I didn’t regret watching it. Thailand is very lenient and welcoming to all kinds of people as long as they don’t break the law and are willing to learn our culture. My grandparents in their late 80s and early 90s has always treated Kathoey/Trans the same way they do cis gender people. A food stall owner in my neighbourhood is Kathoey. My grandpa said that it’s nice for them(I don’t know they pronoun) to be able to experience life both as a male and female, and that they know what they want and who they are. That was 10 years ago, btw. Many of my cousin is LGBTQ+; one dated with women; one is Kathoey and is trying to be trans(she’s so gorgeous) All that to say: this is a safe place for transpeople. My family members from all generations support and is understanding to transpeople, and I believe we can’t be the only family out there
I’m so glad you like it in Thailand! I’m Thai and I’m very glad that Thai people are usually okay with people from the LGBTQ+ community! Even if someone doesn’t like it, they don’t rlly say anything to you! They just mind their own business! But it’s nice to see that you liked it here in Thailand!

In Thailand, your voice will always be heard! Deep down we are all human, all the same flesh and blood. Recently, the senate has just passed the same-sex marriage legislation (the first in Southeast Asia) so it's really great to see how we're striving to be better here and there as well. To all pride communities worldwide, come to Thailand and let us be where your heart is at

In my classroom there are 1-2 lgbtq+ people, yes it is very normal. And we accept it because we are all people.
🗿
In America most of the people are
I've heard that some parts of Thailand are still anti-gay or transgender, but I was born and raised in Bangkok, and my entire family tree, including my mother's great-grandfather, is from Bangkok.
That’s amazing I love it, so sweet hat your father drops your bf of at school every day 🥹💖
You're very kind and so pretty!!!😍😍

I’m so happy to watch this video
Many of my cousin is LGBTQ+; one dated with women; one is Kathoey and is trying to be trans(she’s so gorgeous)
All that to say: this is a safe place for transpeople. My family members from all generations support and is understanding to transpeople, and I believe we can’t be the only family out there
i love what your grandpa said about kathoey!! yes it is a very safe place for trans people and i love that
WELCOME IN BANGKOK DENCY😘
That's cool and good to hear honestly 😌😎👌 America is so weird and wild but
Love seeing this! You look like Stacy Dash too!
TH-cam recommends your video to me and I thought you were a model or an actress because you look so beautiful in your thumbnail
Thank you so much kha 🙏🏽
