one thing not enough people are talking about is the way the rabbits, while being a uniquely interesting metaphor, also happen to be fucking adorable background dancers. the way they just keep popping up at random moments doing goofy little poses aND THE TWO DOING THE TANGO DURING THE INSTRUMENTAL BREAK LIKE THEY'RE SO SILLY I CAN'T, V
I just realized that usually in the chorus, saros is surprised when they turn around, but in the final part, they're confident. Maybe they're no longer ashamed of who they are anymore.
@@WhiteWalterInYourMother Saros is the name of the voicebank and character that visualizes it. In vocal synth songs, people make different versions of that character to better fit the song, so yeah. Saros is basically the singer/main character
I find the symbolisms of rabbits and major religious undertones to be interesting. Especially how in the Old Testament, rabbits were thought of as unclean animals. They represent lust and unbridled sexuality/ or uncontrolled sexual passions. Really love the symbolisms! (Plus there some stories that I have seen where rabbits have sometimes represented gay folk. So that's interesting lol)
Yeah, I think it’s can be seen as both! The ones in the church are the typical “””innocent and pure””” docile rabbits, and the ones in the orange scenes are queer and more free folk, like in the Old Testament! They’re being their true selves, unlike the re-written history that tries to paint them as docile, and forces them to do so
The more I watch this video, the more I realize how clever the writing is. It's clearly dealing with themes of religious guilt and BDSM, and the lines about feeling collared refer to more than just the obvious kink overtones. It also refers to the way that guilt from religious hangs around your neck, like the collar of a priest.
This isn’t much to add but I always thought it was weird that the hearts look like butts when they curl in. It might just be artistic choice but with the context I feel like it was purposeful. (Sorry this is goofy to add LMAO)
It also touches on the fact that to some people bondage, when done without coercion and is instead embraced in a healthy way can be fully liberating. The character is still in a collar and bondage gear, but seems more happy after turning their back on the shackles that religion placed on them.
@@PrisonRealmI mean… to be fair to you, that is literally one of the potential origins of the heart shape: a woman’s butt. Not even a joke, I’m forever cursed with this theoretical knowledge-
LOSING MY MIND YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I WILL HAVE THIS ON LOOP.... THANK YOU TO VANE YOPPY AND CRISPY FOR KEEPING THE GAYS FED.......................
What's really interesting is that, when I listened to the song before thjs MV, it always gave me the imagery of wolves or some other carnivorous predator due to the those types of animals seen to be needing taming, so it's REALLY interesting how this MV uses rabbits instead. Rabbits are seen as docile beings, which is probably what the church wants its members to be, but even bunnies can have a bite to them, kind of like Saros's fangs, something that they were most likely born with
Hey I revised the spanish for Vane in this, so here are some translation notes for non-spanish speakers: 0:05 "Padre nuestro en el cielo, santificado-" Is the start of the prayer "Our Father Who Art in heaven, hallowed (...) 0:09 "Padre" In this context Padre is the priest of the church 0:57 "Mijito, dios te quiere, él solo quiere protegerte" means "Dear child* God loves you, He only wants to protect you" In this context mijito doesn't mean literally son like it usually does, it's just an endearing way to call someone else's children. 1:59 "Oye, wey, ¿estás allí? En el cielo tan bello" means "Hey, man, are you there? In the heaven so beautiful" Hope it helped! 💗
thank you so much for revising the spanish with me when i was workin on it!! sorry for telling you this was for a kevin song. edit: i also wanted to add that the our father in spanish is purposefully misquoted, hence the (??? in the mv on that line. the proper intro to the prayer is "padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado(...)" also "wey" can also be translated as "dude" which is a bit funny in the songs context since its very casual and not something you should just casually call god LOL
I only speak classroom Spanish, so for a while I thought Wey was supposed to be an odd nickname for God considering His (supposed?) original Hebrew name ending with something similar to that. Thanks for that clarification!
@@vanelily Curious, what's the significance in the misquote? I do not know spanish enough to grasp the meaning. In google translate, the only difference between the one used in the song and the proper version is the omission of the phrase "who art"
The adorable little fangs is a really good choice that reflects the stance of the church and conservatives on these things. In their view, you only become one because you were exposed to one. Which is to say, non-heteronormativity is just like vampirism. That’s why all their talking points are about “turning” people. …or maybe they are just a vampire and I’m reading too much into the character design.
others have already pointed out the more obvious symbolism behind the rabbit imagery, but i'd like to give special mention to tu'er shen, the chinese god of love and sex between men; said to have been a man named hu tianbao, he was caught peeping on the imperial inspector he'd fallen for through a bathroom wall -- forced to confess his affection, only to be beaten to death. a month later, he appeared in the dreams of a man from his hometown as a young hare, claiming that since his crime was one of love -- and thus, an unjust death -- the officials of the underworld had appointed him as god and safe-guarder of homosexual affairs. "rabbit" is actually chinese slang for gay people, although i'm unsure if that came before or after this guy, lmao. he had a pretty decent cult in the fujian province, and was specifically mentioned in the qing dynasty's outlawing of homosexual sex (among other things)... and there remains a temple dedicated to him in taiwan to this day! it frequently sees gay couples looking to officiate gay marriages or make prayers. on the western side of things, rabbits are traditionally associated with fertility (ofc) -- that's why they're all over easter -- and immortality; the three hares/rabbits is an ancient symbol that appears all the way from east asia to england itself, and its origins are actually unknown (afaik), but it's thought to be a representation of infinity. when present in christian spaces, it represents the holy trinity. back over in east asia, there's also the mythical moon rabbit, said to be pounding out either the elixir of life... or rice cakes. they're very versatile little guys! :) (also, this song bangs. holy shit. definitely going on loop for the next week -- amazing work!
Your fun fact was way more in depth and fun than mine!! I love hearing more information about the symbolism of rabbits and hares! c: also same about looping this song!!
the art and editing in this mv is INSANELY good, everyone who worked on this did an absolutely amazing job, and all of it comes together to make something absolutely incredible I'M ALSO LIKE,, OBSESSED WITH THE THEMES BEHIND THIS SONG AND THE LYRICS. it's a very mature song and it delivers it's messages so well,, the way ur upbringing defines how ur relationships form in adulthood, how people raised with religion are taught to believe some parts of themselves are inherently dirty or unholy, and the ways those things can be reclaimed in adulthood. like u grow up being told that ur feelings are bad or dirty and rather than trying to scrub those parts of u away u embrace them in ways so they no longer hurt you. the way that the metaphor of the collar is used as an agent to bind or restrict, but it turns into something u reclaim and take control back of in the context of BDSM, where any and all activity is safe and only happens on the terms of both parties, is SO GOOD!!! I LOVE THIS SONG SOOO MUCH. VANE, YOPPY AND CRISPY ALL DID SUCH INCREDIBLE JOBS!!
Also I'm not sure if this was intentional but the flowers look like Cempasúchil flowers. In Día de Muertos (Celebrated during the first days of November) in México those flowers are used to decorate the shrines to our deceased loved ones, and its petals are used to make a trail to guide their spirits home!
@@LucyLerma Based on what you said, I like the idea that they wear those flowers to help lead other people who struggle with their religious upbringing 'home', to a place where they can freely express themselves and work to reclaim the feelings and aspects of themselves that they tried to scrub away- I'm not entirely sure that's what they were going for, but that's what I kinda took away from that.
@@LucyLerma it could be symbolism for others seeing them as ‘dead’ because they embraced themselves. It could also be that they had to ‘die’ or their old self is ‘dead’ as they grew and found themselves. I feel the latter is more likely personally
HOLY SHIT IVE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS SONG A TON THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND NEVER KNEW THAT UNTIL NOW- When you can make people genuinely think that it’s a real person and not a voice bank, you know you got some top tier skills-
Nearing the end of the song after you see broken chains, their eyes switch from swirls to hearts. That was a really neat detail that I thought should be noticed by more people 👏
I'm not even going to lie, this song made me tear up. I've never had a song so perfectly encompass my own feelings with religion and realizing that I like women, while having family around me actively condemn it for religious reasons. I am adding this to the playlist for sure.
Thats not family, thats a bunch of....... Lets say sheep..... Not being opened to thier dauther (I asume) likeing something thats againts outdated book. I hope thinks are better now.
@@FunnyFunai I'm honestly kinda with you, being gay and a Christian is definitely rough. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the song. Sure, religion has had its bad moments but attacking and actively sexualizing someone's beliefs is sick. You shouldn't just cut ties with family over a difference in beliefs, but I also think there needs to be more openness. It's not my fault, and trust me if I could change myself I would. The same thing goes for others, resorting to name-calling is a weak strategy, and Matejnentwich1276's argument is just poorly constructed. People just need to leave each other alone and stick to their own business.

Dude this video is literally stunning. I was impressed when I heard the song- but this really brought it all together. SAROS fits your style super well. This entire song sounds amazing. This is definitely my favorite from you. SYNTHV SPANISH LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard it and immediately realized "oh that lyric is NEVER leaving my head, is it?" This whole song is top tier, but that line especially goes so hard
damnit, ive had a bunny oc named saros for years now and now people are gonna think i just made them because of this song. tbf, if it had to be anything, im glad its this.
@@shiratojin it is. i gave them rabbit features both because of the myth of the rabbit in the moon and because their backstory had parallels to alice in wonderland.
I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS SONG, and I've just GOT to point out the huge amount of double-entendre symbolism! There's the obvious symbolism of the collar in the context of religious restrictions, as well being used in the freedom of consentual BDSM; but then there's also the use of bunnies that are shown here both as a symbol of 'purity', as well as being a sexual symbol ("___ like rabbits" is a common simile). There's also a bunch of lyrics with double meanings too!! 1) "Although our cards were dealt in blinded bliss" - Blinded bliss could refer to being born into the comfort and ignorance of religion, but can also refer to being born out of the 'bliss' of an orgasm. 2) "... to shun the only one who could have saved you from humanity's sun" - I think this is a play on words; the usual sentence is "saved from humanity's sin", but in this version it's 'sun', not 'sin'-- referring to how the religion was keeping them from one of the joys of being human. I'm sure there's many more, but those are the two that I find most interesting that I haven't seen mentioned yet! AND THEN there's the color palette of the video that's (intentionally or unintentionally) the non-binary flag colors, which I think works SUPER well!!! I just all around adore this song and the music video AUGH!!
I just realized that the lyrics are forming eyes. The lyrics are put at the top and bottom of the screen and they curving away where it looks like they’re forming an eye.
[Lyrics] (because I wanted to sing and that help me) Y'know as a kid on Sunday, I'd go to church And say my daily prayers, it's such a blur Repeating: "Padre nuesto en el cielo" "Santificad-" Um, how did it go? And so the padre's talking, he's doing his thing He takes a breath, looks up, and starin' at me He says: "Holy bunnies, white as snow," "Will you promise not to ever roam?" I don't know when these feelings all began It seems the Devil and I walked hand in hand And so I'd run and run and run away Endless circles through a senseless game I would pray for an answer every night But the moon stayed silent with its damning light And so I'd run and run and run away Feigning solace through a holy fatе Now, the echoes intеrlace Repeating sacred grace to save the misbehaved A picture-perfect masquerade Embracing faded pages of tainted saints "Mijito, Dios te quiere" "El solo quiere protegere" A saying I've heard before Adorning covenants Dear God, I'm bored [Pre-Chorus] We've lost our youth to the night Left to find reason between every fracture of Light In portraits portraying our lives Can we redefine what it means to be Alive If the scripture says it's sin, then let's begin A dying wish Although our cards were dealt in blinded bliss There's hope beyond this lone abyss Leave bruises on my neck We won't regret Our staggered breaths I wanna feel your body close But there's something latching to my throat It's got me CO-CO-CO-CO-What? It's got me CO-CO-CO-CO-What? Collared Cheap wine Cheaper praise Cheap ways to fill my faith I got a hundred ways to null the pain Every day the same Still trying to pray Like, "Oye, wey, testas alli?" "En el cielo tan bello," Find it hard to believe Hey, did you run and run and run To shun the only one That could have saved us from Humanity's sun? We've lost our youth to the night Left to find reason between every fracture of Light In portraits portraying our lives Can we redefine what it means to be Alive Life Isn't up to a God Our components are sonnets They're up to us to write Our memories live on through each line Can we redefine what it means if the- Scripture says it's sin, then let's begin A dying wish Although our cards were dealt in blinded bliss There's hope beyond this lone abyss Leave bruises on my neck We won't regret Our staggered breaths I wanna feel your body close But there's something latching to my throat I wanna worship you all night I wanna feel your gentle bite And if the world wants us to burn We'll join the stars and watch it turn I could throw it all away Repeat the prayers I used to pray But if I hid behind this broken bliss I'll never know what lies within Those markings on my neck I don't regret the nights we spent I wanna feel your body close But there's something latching to my throat The scripture says it's sin, then let's begin This sinner's wish Although our cards were dealt in binded bliss Let's recreate the serpent's kiss Leave bruises on my neck I won't repent My knees are bent I wanna hold your body close Just wrap your hands around my throat They had me CO-CO-CO-CO-What? But now I'm CO-CO-CO-CO-What? Pull on my CO-CO-CO-CO-What? Collar
Spanish translations btw: 0:04 "Padre nuestro en el cielo" our father in the sky 0:09 "padre" is father or dad 0:57 "Mijito dios te quiete" is My (little) son god loves you and "el solo quiere protejerte" is he only wants to protect you 1:59 "Olle wey estas alli en el cielo tan bello?" is hey are you there in the sky so beautiful Hope the translations helped :)
@@elainad6728 Yep. Padre refers to God in the first part, as it is the Spanish version of the LORD's prayer, "Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name." Padre in the second part is just a title meaning church Priest like you said, like Father Brian, or Father Leonard.
WOW this song is FIRE personally, i think it's about growing up in a religiously traumatic environment as a LGBTQ+ kid and finding some kind of freedom as you grow up. the symbolism with the rabbits and the collar is so impressive, and the art style is so interesting! it reminds me of the shows i'd watch when i was younger. and a new voicebank from eclipsedsounds??? THRILLING great job to everyone involved!
I am aware that this song is specifically about being repressed for being who you are in a Christian environment, but as a person who grew up in a Muslim environment with very strict parents (I'm from Turkey), this hits really close home too. I was hurt and demonized a lot growing up because of religious beliefs/people. I don't identify with Islam at all anymore, though I respect nice people who do :)
I think you have it worse. In christianity, apostacy supposedly condemns you to hell but at least it doesnt carry any physical punishment (let alone death)
IM SO ACTUALLY INSANE ABT THE ENTIRE COMPOSTION OF THIS VIDEO/SONG FROM THE BEAUTIFUL ART THE SYBOLISM IN THE ART AND LYRICS TYING IN2 FREEDOM FROM RELIGOUS SHAME AND GUILT ???? THE COLLAR BECOMING SOMETHING THE SINGER RECLAIMS AS SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BY THE END OF THE SONG ???!?!??!?!?! genuinely GORGEOUS i am in LOVE
This song gives me an immense amount of gender envy i cannot explain, thank you Update: i now cosplay this character and i can confirm; theres a lot of gender present /pos
Reclaiming religious motifs and iconography for individuality and self love remains one of my favorite artistic tropes, also this MV holy HELL??? The visuals and the electro swing go SO well together, and ironically this is my first time hearing SAROS so it had me pausing the video a couple seconds in to double check if this was a voicebank or a person recording--absolutely fantastic all around!!! ❤❤❤ (I know there's already much more articulately worded comments about the symbolism and themes in the song so I won't repeat the obvious but I really enjoy the imagery of rabbits being used here, since they're almost universally used as shorthand for naive/innocent/small-minded people but in this MV that's instead turned around into a "pure" sacrifical creature choosing its own fate and redefining what it means to experience things like lust and desire; very epic very cool I like it a lot) Edit: nevermind I do want to go into detail actually. Another thing that makes my brain go brrrrrrr is the usage of light/specifically the moon as the only warm color in the MV and the use of "humanity's sun" instead of the more obvious "humanity's sin", kind of like it's drawing parallels between the sun and moon--the moon being out during the night, the main character's outfit adorned with flowers the same color as the moon--I know it's probably just to make the rhyme work but I really like the idea of the moon being used as a metaphor for humanity's desires (much less bright than the sun, since having desires isn't "sinful" like the "sun" is in this case)
Another interesting thing about the color is that yellow (i.e. the flowers and their eyes. I am just simplifying and saying yellow too) in color theory can be taken in two completely different directions, caution and happiness. The first interpretation lines up with the first half of the song where they believe what they are doing is wrong, and the second reflects them accepting themselves and living freely.
Personally, the line "Holy bunnies, white as snow, will you promise to never roam?" symbolizes how normal feelings (like being gay or trans or lgbtqia+ in general) are told to be locked up and never acted on, when bunnies roaming is very normal/healthy for them. This song really feels like being told your base urges are wrong but deciding you don't want to be right. Great song :D
same, especially with the line "it seems like the devil and i walked hand in hand" it sounds like he's being told that he's doing something evil or wrong despite not knowing or understanding why, its confusion at being told he's in the wrong for nothing
@@alessandroapostolico2108 OH you meant you wanted this to be talked about seriously. Anyway let’s go lgbt (i dont have any other commentary on this song)
Absolutely utterly earth shattering and mind melting. the tuning was so sexy actually and the lyrics UGH the lyrics i am screaming i can't deal/ and to top it all off this MV has my brain doing back flips im actually so stunned rn. Absolutely priceless piece of media here that could never be replaced, The bunnies dancing, the co-co-co-coWHAT. like stop playing with me right now if this isnt the ass shaker of the year I really couldn't tell you what was. Thank you for this amazing piece of art.
I said this once and I'll say it again I never once thought in my entire life that you could get turned on by a song before I watch this! Actuall shivers
yk as a queer Christian this really hits hard. I don’t believe being gay is a sin. The denomination of Christianity I subscribe to doesn’t believe that either, but there’s still something from the church of my childhood that holds me back. It makes me afraid. This song describes that feeling perfectly. I’m also just so mad that so many queer people have been hurt by Christian churches. I know I should be used to it by now, but it shouldn’t be normal.
Queer "Christian" do you know how stupid that sounds? If you don't think being gay is a sin than you've clearly never heard of the bible you can't call yourself a Christian and be gay doesn't work like that what an absolute clown.
"If the world wants us to burn, we'll join the stars and watch it turn." I may be straight but that line is POWERFUL. Taking the antithesis of the connotations for burning in this context and flipping it to a positive is so poetic. It's a tragedy that hard-line Christians scorn LGBTQ people so much they wish for them to burn in hell. So taking 'burn' away from that and to be something positive and wonderful like a star burning and shining is just genius. Fuck the Church. Any benevolent god would not punish their creations for acting as they will. I'm gonna have a fun time analysing this song. My orientation does not allow me to grasp it as well or feel it as meaningful as others, but I'm gonna get every piece of meaning out of it that I can! (Besides, much more fun analysing the vibrant works of internet artists than Shakespeare any day.)
I forgot to mention the most important thing of all. This song SLAPS. It's earnt the 'loopable song of the week' award. Idk, the chorus just hits different.
I’m religious, but I agree full heartedly. A god that doesn’t let their creations be free is not one worth praying to. And, we haven’t been flooded again, so I think we good? Plus, even though I’m religious and straight, this songs a bop.
Really cool how the bunny is all grey in the beginning and later on in the video more and more yellow is added as he allows himself more fun and pleasure :3
This song is so good and I love that it uses a nonbinary synthV and that it all uses the nonbinary flag color scheme (even if not intended to be the nonbimary flag)
A lazy yet so small detail i didn't know was intentional or not and if people mentioned it, But overtime it started out as White/Gray as they started out nervous and confused probably, But overtime becomes gold. Thus symbolising them overtime getting confident. It's a nice touch! Aswell as the outfit.
This song kinda emphasizes one of the main things that I don't necessarily like when it comes to Christianity/Christian-like religions, this idea that your life is planned out ahead of you. I know it's not the main point of the song but the line about rewriting sonnets stuck out to me as that's one of the reasons I'm no longer a Christian. Now, I'm not gonna sit here and say that Christianity as a whole is evil and wrong, in fact, I think there are a lot of good moral lessons that can be taken from the Bible's stories (as long as you take them with a bit of salt). Regardless, one of the things I was always told growing up was that God has a plan for all of us and that the hardships are meant to strengthen us. As someone who lost both his parents and is currently living with his aunt and uncle, I don't care if you have good intentions no one needs to go through that hardship. Long story short, I've always had a problem with this idea that everything about your life is planned ahead and God takes all the credit for it, it's BS and it pisses me off. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
True. And reason so much distorted stuff exists in regard to suffering is the church wanted to consider people slaves to their circumstances and not question what the church was and what they used the poor people's money for. While everyone else suffered, starved, and died...they left out books tbat showed Jesus saying that weak or wealthy is something even the rich person has to keep working on to occupy his time...about people with disabilities...he really doesn't care to help them or heal them. He just says they were born for a reason and that also has its own implications...and people don't understand God likes to rig things and there is an underlying rule in order even in supposed chance...so think about how people pretty much are born into circumstances they may or may not want but God has a formula to see how many people or combinations of individuals thoughts and ideas and random spontaneous events happening. He can rig or do things on a whim that he wants.
If he wants. He can also chain people into circumstances they never would have wanted just because he wants it that way. God is neither Good nor evil. Just neutral and just because he created demons or has them fall to become them doesn't mean he did as well not create vectors or anything like to control them...
This song really reminds me of those hype fandom songs of 2014-2018! I love it! And you're telling me this voice does not belong to a real person, and it's a vocaloid? Nah, no way I'm ever believing that..
THIS IS AMAZING WHAT THE HELL, I LOVE IT. I dont know if it was the intention behind this but this song perfectly encapsulates how i felt growing up in a heavily religious south america household after i realized i was a fruity little gay boy.
not only is the song good, but i relate to it pretty heavily too. you did so freaking great and it really shows. the meaning behind the collar and how the 'protagonist' of the song now uses it as a symbol of overcoming their mental blocks formed through religion is amazing. i can't stop listening to it its so good!
Holy shit such a bop, the change in language in the beginning me agarro desprevenida jsajaja. La voz es perfecta?? La letra queda SUPER bien??? Excellent work, activated something profound in me. "let's recreate the serpent's kiss" is my favorite line, it's so fun and sexy. Also that bunny is so gender (and hot) holy shit.
I haven't seen any comments that really get into the story here, so I'm gonna take a crack at it. - I'm sure the most obvious interpretation is that Saros is gay or bisexual, but has been forced into the closet by the vilification of LGBT+ relationships in their religion. Out of shame for 'sinning' and possible fear of going to Hell, they deny their feelings and desperately pray to God to 'fix them', only to end up entering a secret relationship and accepting their sexuality because it makes them feel good and free - or, in their words, alive. - I get the impression that it's also about religion shaming and controlling sexual behavior (i.e, purity culture). Saying it can only be done certain ways, forbidding gay marriage and sex before marriage, expecting men and women to play certain roles, etc. - Assuming the flowers are marigolds, I feel the need to point out that marigolds are symbols of purity and divinity, were used to decorate church altars, and got their name from the biblical Mary. This makes Saros wearing them in their chorus outfit rather interesting - they could either be mocking their religious upbringing with their newfound freedom from it or trying to honor any good lessons it taught them despite the harm it caused. Either way, they seem to have come to terms with it. I'm sure there's more, but this is my understanding. The 'serpent's kiss' mentioned in the final chorus certainly refers to something - but what that something is, I admittedly don't know.
"Serpent's kiss" is probably referring to the myth of Adam and Eve, specifically when the serpent tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. As someone raised in the faith (lmao fuck that shit) I've heard it referred to as something like the serpent's kiss or serpent's seduction a few times.
As a former fundamentalist myself, your interpretation is accurate. A lot of people go through this. They are raised Christian, encounter something that conflicts with their faith beliefs, and attempt to get answers from Pastors, Priests, and endless nights in prayer to God. When the pastors' answers ring hollow, and when they receive nothing but silence from a seemingly non-existent God, whom allegedly personally cares about them, they give up hoping for non-forthcoming answers and instead make their own path. I myself just had questions about the fundamental nature of God and how it conflicts with what we observe in both the world and scriptures. However, LGBT people have the added weight of questioning their own nature at the same time. And 'Recreate the Serpent's Kiss', while not referenced directly in scriptures as such, in this context, it likely does refer to what the serpent convinced Adam and Eve to do in the Garden of Eden, that is disobey God by eating the Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
@@zorinazutella3270 it really does, nothing wrong with faith but being raised into it and having no choice in the matter defeats the whole purpose of it in the first place
This song is so good it almost got me killed. I was so into my own little world with this song playing in my ears that I forgot to look both ways and almost got hit by a car. Keep making music
Everyone is talking about the rabbits but I want to talk about the repression aspect that is the main theme. In this case the hyper repression of sexuality leading to a wholehearted embrace of all that was considered dirty and wrong by organized religion. This aspect is similar to the kid that never drank alcohol becoming a huge partier in college. In jungian philosophy the more we repress parts of ourselves the more power we give to that metaphorical shadow until eventually it completely controls us. As well with Christians specifically there is a common trend of masochism and a want to be punished. It has been so ingrained into one to repent and been ingrained that we are imperfect and will never live up to our expectations. Christianity essentially sets you up to fail and then profits off your guilt. As well when someone embraces deviancy and takes the similar perspective to the chronic disappointment child (If I am already a disappointment to my parents, letting them down again won't be anything out of the norm) where due to already believing themselves condemned to hell they embrace it. There is a reason why the gay community heavily identifies with satanic imagery, we feel we are already condemned and thus we embrace it. I myself haven't been christian for some time but still have much of the masochistic tendencies. They are somewhat kept in check by me doing combat sports, but under the skin, especially in a sexual context my brain still defaults so "whip me, beat me, cut me, tear me limb from limb".
RELATABLE (Totally arnt pegan in my 20s cause as a kid I didn't like being forced into chrisanity and thought pegans were fucking metal and wanted to spite my mother, grand mother and sisters (2 sisters one brother, brother was pegan, father was in Scotland collecting books for him cause dad worked in some... sketchy trading while mom was a store clerk)((I mean illegal tranqs, not coke or any cool shit... just tranqs)
"Let's recreate the serpent's kiss." "Just need your hands around my neck." "If the world wants us to burn, we'll join the stars and watch it turn." I have never been so conflicted on if a song is helplessly horny or absolutely raw... maybe it's both? (Not to undercut the message, as I'm sure it will have helped atleast one person.)
i’m so excited to see this song and the music video all together!! i was so shocked and excited when the demo came out, and i can definitely say it does NOT disappoint. well written lyrics with the most insanely catchy and fast paced melody to match !!!
okay updating now that i've gotten the full experience. THIS WAS AMAZING!!! rice's music video is absolutely stunning as always, and it was so incredibly fitting for this song!! the character design is done very well, and articulates the changes within the song very well! i don't like doing in depth lyric analysis, but i will definitely say i love the way vane articulates the effect of religious trauma on guilt around sexuality, and eventually reclaiming that and choosing to experience sexuality in a way that you decide, and you are in control of (even if that is. the control of letting yourself be controlled). really well done on all fronts !! (the tuning is rlly good too i'm just not picky abt tuning at all so i don't have much to say abt it but yeah the dynamics really work well within the song and are able to provide emphasis to the emotion in the lyrics !)
HOLY SHIT!!!!! i already thought this song was super good but it's even more enhanced by this amazing video. i love the style sm. in other words a second collared has hit the me. my feet are cold now cuz my socks have been knocked off. etc
This is awesome. The MV is ridiculous, and the song itself is so catchy. I love the vibe that comes together. Idk if it's the tuning, SAROS, or both, but the vocals are crazy fucking smooth with a powerful electronic undercurrent. Amazing work. That breakdown around 3:10 is bliss for my ears--that hyper, fun, dark chiptune/EDM sound that turns your bedroom into the coolest club that doesn't exist. And the visuals at that part are especially sublime. All in all, a really great song. You all knocked it out of the park with this demo.
Vane istg i have listened to this song like 50 times already. Its so funky and so good, but its also a comfort song for me. LIKE- ITS SO ACCURATE???? I used to live in a really "weird" religious context (i started listening to your music there) and OMFG I LOVE THIS. ALSO SAROS VOICE IS AMAZINF, AND THE MUSIC? THE VIDEO? ITS MY FAV SONG RN 😭 Thank you for your music ❤🗣️❗
I love the symbolism of the imagery in this song! As I interpret it it, this song is about reclaiming things that you were hurt by, or brought up to believe was wrong. Particularly about religion teaching that sexuality is “wrong” and “sinful”. In that sense, I love the way that the collar represents both being bound or suppressed, before being used as a symbol of bdsm; Where all participants feel free to express their sexuality. Also the fact that rabbits represent both innocence, and religious icons related to the holy trinity and Easter, but are also notoriously fertile and lustful. The contrast of the monochrome with the bright gold also is really nice. TLDR: the music video is so good and works fantastically with the themes of the song (which is an absolute banger)
3:14 i feel like there's a lot of meaning in the scene. Yeah, it's just visual to instrumental, but i feel that these two bunnies on the foreground romantically dancing with each other while mc running away in the background, almost invisible, shows how ignorant so religious people is, just living here peacefully not even aware that there's people who are discriminated for who or how they love and forced to never show it. Oh i love being a queer in a homophobic country, seeing other couples kissing and hugging each other while i'm scared just to hold my SO's hand in public because i can be beaten to death went to prison for my relationship🤠
The visuals are INSANE, better than most visuals i've seen with other songs and channels, I can tell why it took a good 3 months to make and DAMN was it worth the wait. Amazing job as always to Vane and the others who worked on this song.
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL???? LITERALLY BOTH THE MUSIC AND ART IN THIS IS AMAZINGGG!! On a serious note I also do love the songs themes and relate to them a lot! Im so happy to see a song like this that not only sounss good but looks just as amazing too!
The turning, editing, IT SHINES ON MY BONES , im really surprised on how everyone did a GOOD JOB good song, pv and almost everything else,i can't wait for another one
Three AMAZING details i love about the music video are the way the collar turns into a harness at the end, harnesses are one of the most clear symbols of BDSM culture and sexual deviancy. the way the shot of "my knees are bent" is angled to match their eyes and not the floor, which really pulls the audience's focus to them. and the way while theyre in the church, their hair is put up into a ponytail, which could symbolize restraint, timidness, and being more "put together" and professional, while their long hair being down gives off the vibes of wildness, freedom and expression
This song is an exceptional earworm for me right now. Just stumbled across it and absolutely love all of it. The sound design is exceptional, the lyrics and vocals are on point, and the animations are exceptionally done.
@@serious_as_cereal399 ah, didn't know that! Not a fan of ai in general, but I did some googling and it say the ai is only trained from consenting parties, just like vocaloid, so I'll let it pass
That does not change that it takes significant effort and skill to make it sound correct. I could make a song just having google translate read it out. Doesn't mean it would sound good. AI or not I still very much appreciate how well done it is.
I loved it! The truth is that it had caught my attention because of the cover drawing, but I ended up loving it even more! The truth is that I didn't expect him to change some things from English to Spanish, and that shocked me, since I speak Spanish, making me not expect the "Padre nuestro en el cielo, santificado", "Mijito, dios te quiere. El solo quiere protegerte" or "Oye wey ¿Estas allí? En el cielo tan bello" Since I'm used to only listening to music in English, but oh well. It's great! 10/10
I've been obsessed with this song since it came out, eveeything about it is AMAZING. Voppy epsecially did an amazing job with the tuning, SAROS' softer voice is immaculate

@@WhiteWalterInYourMother Saros is the name of the voicebank and character that visualizes it. In vocal synth songs, people make different versions of that character to better fit the song, so yeah. Saros is basically the singer/main character
@@Wince_Media ah okay, thanks man
I find the symbolisms of rabbits and major religious undertones to be interesting.
They’re being their true selves, unlike the re-written history that tries to paint them as docile, and forces them to do so
@coffeesoda7264 symbolism in music, especially like Vocaloid or SynthV songs is interesting. I love the explanations too lol
@coffeesoda7264 yeah, music as an expression is just amazing
rabbits are also naturally curious
@@alexanderleonardi3625That’s a Great Point!
@@PrisonRealm it's okay. Goofy is nice sometimes.
It also touches on the fact that to some people bondage, when done without coercion and is instead embraced in a healthy way can be fully liberating. The character is still in a collar and bondage gear, but seems more happy after turning their back on the shackles that religion placed on them.

What's really interesting is that, when I listened to the song before thjs MV, it always gave me the imagery of wolves or some other carnivorous predator due to the those types of animals seen to be needing taming, so it's REALLY interesting how this MV uses rabbits instead. Rabbits are seen as docile beings, which is probably what the church wants its members to be, but even bunnies can have a bite to them, kind of like Saros's fangs, something that they were most likely born with
iirc they also will resort to becoming predators if needed and eat their babies occasionally

Hello, Fish-lover
the “what?” in order to get the listener(s) to repeat the name of the song as if in a sermon is so smart
Hey I revised the spanish for Vane in this, so here are some translation notes for non-spanish speakers:
0:05 "Padre nuestro en el cielo, santificado-" Is the start of the prayer "Our Father Who Art in heaven, hallowed (...)
0:09 "Padre" In this context Padre is the priest of the church
0:57 "Mijito, dios te quiere, él solo quiere protegerte" means "Dear child* God loves you, He only wants to protect you" In this context mijito doesn't mean literally son like it usually does, it's just an endearing way to call someone else's children.
1:59 "Oye, wey, ¿estás allí? En el cielo tan bello" means "Hey, man, are you there? In the heaven so beautiful"
Hope it helped! 💗
thank you so much for revising the spanish with me when i was workin on it!! sorry for telling you this was for a kevin song.
edit: i also wanted to add that the our father in spanish is purposefully misquoted, hence the (??? in the mv on that line. the proper intro to the prayer is "padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado(...)" also "wey" can also be translated as "dude" which is a bit funny in the songs context since its very casual and not something you should just casually call god LOL
I only speak classroom Spanish, so for a while I thought Wey was supposed to be an odd nickname for God considering His (supposed?) original Hebrew name ending with something similar to that. Thanks for that clarification!
tyyyy
Amé el "¿oye wey estás allí?" fue muy inesperado XD
@@vanelily Curious, what's the significance in the misquote? I do not know spanish enough to grasp the meaning. In google translate, the only difference between the one used in the song and the proper version is the omission of the phrase "who art"

READ MY MIND❗❗❗
What, are you saying there is something kinky about blind devotion and giving yourself to another to do with you as they please? That would be absurd.
Yeah the religious trauma to kinky pipline is a short slide we know this
others have already pointed out the more obvious symbolism behind the rabbit imagery, but i'd like to give special mention to tu'er shen, the chinese god of love and sex between men; said to have been a man named hu tianbao, he was caught peeping on the imperial inspector he'd fallen for through a bathroom wall -- forced to confess his affection, only to be beaten to death. a month later, he appeared in the dreams of a man from his hometown as a young hare, claiming that since his crime was one of love -- and thus, an unjust death -- the officials of the underworld had appointed him as god and safe-guarder of homosexual affairs.
(also, this song bangs. holy shit. definitely going on loop for the next week -- amazing work!
Your fun fact was way more in depth and fun than mine!! I love hearing more information about the symbolism of rabbits and hares! c: also same about looping this song!!
Thats very interesting!
I think that in the context of the song however, they can only mean one thing; rice cakes
Imagine going to China only to be called a rabbit /j
there is a chinese god about gay sex?
the art and editing in this mv is INSANELY good, everyone who worked on this did an absolutely amazing job, and all of it comes together to make something absolutely incredible
I'M ALSO LIKE,, OBSESSED WITH THE THEMES BEHIND THIS SONG AND THE LYRICS. it's a very mature song and it delivers it's messages so well,, the way ur upbringing defines how ur relationships form in adulthood, how people raised with religion are taught to believe some parts of themselves are inherently dirty or unholy, and the ways those things can be reclaimed in adulthood. like u grow up being told that ur feelings are bad or dirty and rather than trying to scrub those parts of u away u embrace them in ways so they no longer hurt you. the way that the metaphor of the collar is used as an agent to bind or restrict, but it turns into something u reclaim and take control back of in the context of BDSM, where any and all activity is safe and only happens on the terms of both parties, is SO GOOD!!! I LOVE THIS SONG SOOO MUCH. VANE, YOPPY AND CRISPY ALL DID SUCH INCREDIBLE JOBS!!
Omg I agree, this song sounds good while having a deep meaning to it!
Also I'm not sure if this was intentional but the flowers look like Cempasúchil flowers. In Día de Muertos (Celebrated during the first days of November) in México those flowers are used to decorate the shrines to our deceased loved ones, and its petals are used to make a trail to guide their spirits home!
@@LucyLerma Wait I think that might be it, it would bring a whole new topic to the song too
@@LucyLerma Based on what you said, I like the idea that they wear those flowers to help lead other people who struggle with their religious upbringing 'home', to a place where they can freely express themselves and work to reclaim the feelings and aspects of themselves that they tried to scrub away- I'm not entirely sure that's what they were going for, but that's what I kinda took away from that.
@@LucyLerma it could be symbolism for others seeing them as ‘dead’ because they embraced themselves. It could also be that they had to ‘die’ or their old self is ‘dead’ as they grew and found themselves. I feel the latter is more likely personally

@@0ccultic honestly dude, i’d love to see it!!
Psst "sun" is also a homophone of "son"! Triple meanings baby!!!

Y'know as a kid on Sunday, I'd go to church
And say my daily prayers, it's such a blur
Repeating:
"Padre nuesto en el cielo"
"Santificad-" Um, how did it go?
And so the padre's talking, he's doing his thing
He takes a breath, looks up, and starin' at me
He says: "Holy bunnies, white as snow,"
"Will you promise not to ever roam?"
I don't know when these feelings all began
It seems the Devil and I walked hand in hand
And so I'd run and run and run away
Endless circles through a senseless game
I would pray for an answer every night
But the moon stayed silent with its damning light
And so I'd run and run and run away
Feigning solace through a holy fatе
Now, the echoes intеrlace
Repeating sacred grace to save the misbehaved
A picture-perfect masquerade
Embracing faded pages of tainted saints
"Mijito, Dios te quiere"
"El solo quiere protegere"
A saying I've heard before
Adorning covenants
Dear God, I'm bored

The visuals and the electro swing go SO well together, and ironically this is my first time hearing SAROS so it had me pausing the video a couple seconds in to double check if this was a voicebank or a person recording--absolutely fantastic all around!!! ❤❤❤
(I know there's already much more articulately worded comments about the symbolism and themes in the song so I won't repeat the obvious but I really enjoy the imagery of rabbits being used here, since they're almost universally used as shorthand for naive/innocent/small-minded people but in this MV that's instead turned around into a "pure" sacrifical creature choosing its own fate and redefining what it means to experience things like lust and desire; very epic very cool I like it a lot)
Edit: nevermind I do want to go into detail actually.
You couldent just resist could you understandible this song rips it out of you
Another interesting thing about the color is that yellow (i.e. the flowers and their eyes. I am just simplifying and saying yellow too) in color theory can be taken in two completely different directions, caution and happiness. The first interpretation lines up with the first half of the song where they believe what they are doing is wrong, and the second reflects them accepting themselves and living freely.
HELLO CHARLOTTE FAN SPOTTED
Personally, the line "Holy bunnies, white as snow, will you promise to never roam?" symbolizes how normal feelings (like being gay or trans or lgbtqia+ in general) are told to be locked up and never acted on, when bunnies roaming is very normal/healthy for them. This song really feels like being told your base urges are wrong but deciding you don't want to be right. Great song :D
Sometimes I'm sick of being good enough for people in general and uh
Yeah no same bro song, same bro
same, especially with the line "it seems like the devil and i walked hand in hand" it sounds like he's being told that he's doing something evil or wrong despite not knowing or understanding why, its confusion at being told he's in the wrong for nothing
I like that this is talked seriously and not with a “lets go lgbt” im sick of that

yk as a queer Christian this really hits hard.
Christianity repudiates you, there is no way to reconcile it. Do the LGBTQIA+ community and Christians a favor and pick only one side.
Out of curiosity, what is your denomination? Might look into it.
What’s your denomination?
i honestly like the phrasing of "subscribing" to a religion lmao
Queer "Christian" do you know how stupid that sounds? If you don't think being gay is a sin than you've clearly never heard of the bible you can't call yourself a Christian and be gay doesn't work like that what an absolute clown.
"If the world wants us to burn, we'll join the stars and watch it turn."
I may be straight but that line is POWERFUL.

OH GOD IT'S REWIRING MY V E I N S .
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
im christian and i absolutely agree!!
Im not and i absoulty agree
I'm undecided and I absolutely agree

I do wanna say they do have an official name: SAROS, but Mari is a very cute name for them too!
Isn't Saros the synth/voicebank used?
Edit: nevermind. Vane confirmed further down that the character is Saros, just styled up for the mv

WOOO HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO COLLARED 🎉🎉🎉🎉
yipee!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! 🎉❤
I don't know what I expected when I clicked on this but I wasn't expecting my soul to transcend to a higher plane of existence
WOW!😮

i’m so excited to see this song and the music video all together!! i was so shocked and excited when the demo came out, and i can definitely say it does NOT disappoint. well written lyrics with the most insanely catchy and fast paced melody to match !!!
okay updating now that i've gotten the full experience.

I used to live in a really "weird" religious context (i started listening to your music there) and OMFG I LOVE THIS. ALSO SAROS VOICE IS AMAZINF, AND THE MUSIC? THE VIDEO? ITS MY FAV SONG RN 😭
Thank you for your music ❤🗣️❗
I absolutely love this! Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece! ^^
