    I'm so glad that you're using your platform to speak out for all of us who are experiencing the same issues. And anyone who is telling people to be quiet mind their own business and don't stir the pot need to be put on notice.
    So I did a little research and found out that a lot of our chicken and egg production facilities have burnt down and isn't it a coincidence that this is also happened in Europe and parts of Asia. So you didn't call out Purina brands and I have to respect you for that. But I'm not a TH-cam personality and I'd like to point out that Purina company bought out a huge egg production facility and at the same time they bought out other name brand chicken feeds add about a couple months later we all started noticing egg production dropped to nothing. Our chickens went through their molt and should have started laying again but still no eggs. Now families started buying these very expensive eggs from the store because our hens were not producing. Now that we're all talking and realize it's not just our little corner that it is in fact happening Across the Nation and we are all starting to change our feed and adding in more protein and nutrients into our own chicken feed. I have two older hens about 10 years old and they have started laying again and I firmly believe it's because I have changed the feed. No I'm not new to chickens at one point I had 100 different breeds in different breeding pens and supplied huge amounts of eggs and chicks, so I know a little something something about chickens and feed. Please keep speaking out and speaking to the truth because the rest of us are listening and some of us need to hear it more than others. Thank you

      I have to pin your comment. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I was called a liar, had my Christianity mocked, called crazy and stupid just for speaking and sharing my experience. I am at a loss for words but….. I am a walking talking miracle saved by the hand of God. I shouldn’t be alive. So this is a second bonus chance at life for me. And no way will i be bullied into silence. Especially on my own platform! 😆 People in their feelings because they didnt experience what we have. But I know it is normal for a gradual devline of eggs during winter. What did not feel normal was the fact that 50 hens all went from laying to completely stopping! Over night. As if a light switch had been flicked. Bam. Nothing. For 3 months. Not a single egg. Yet i am to believe that the moment i changed their feed and they started laying almost right away, that it was absolutely not related to the feed but everything to do with daylight? Get outta here. 😆 thats far fetched if you ask me. Imagine the impeccable timing we all have! All changing the feed and it really was just daylight hours that made them lay. All of us! I don’t believe it. So you throwing your hat in the ring, helps those of us trying to share our voices. You would think we would support one another? And not discount people simply because we didn’t experience what they did. People have lost their minds. But i wont be bullied. And i wont allow others around me sharing their experience to be bullied into silence either. Something isnt right. It may be as simple as low quality grains being used. I dont know. But there are too many of us. And with your long experience with chickens, your voice matters. And I thank you for sharing it with me. ❤️

      @@TheKneadyHomesteader I Heather I don't have chickens i just buy eggs at the store but I'm here to tell you that our government is trying everything they can to create an egg shortage and this is how they did it. It is my opinion that they paid these big names to try and silence you guys, the little ppl. Charging ppl so much money for eggs in some places 35.00 for that 5 dozen carton of eggs. That's just crazy. I live in Missouri our eggs were pretty pricey too. But God stepped in and changed their plans and they don't like it. Ppl are standing up and waking up to what is really going on. Next they're going to try and mess with our beef. FDA Requiring beef farms to do some vaccines if you know what I mean. Pray about it. Anyway that's my 2 cents from a loyal subscriber. I love you!!

    Thank you Heather for telling your story. Our hens completely stopped laying in October. Like you, the moment we changed their feed they began laying. We went 3 months without an egg. I've raised chickens for 13 years and live in the south and have never had our chickens stop laying. It's a shame that some channels feel they need to shame those of us who experienced this. In the end we know what we know.

      The thing is, there are just as many people sharing that their chickens are laying just fine for weather like this, mine included, and they have been getting TSC feed all along, new bags bought about once a month so it's not like I stocked up and avoided the bad stuff somehow. It seems odd that folks all across the country that feed TSC pellets are getting normal laying for the season and others are seeing zero eggs and the only reason so many people are jumping to is the feed. Saying that's so is okay if they have that opinion, but spreading fear about corporate and government plots to stop our egg laying or kill our flocks is where the line really ought to be drawn. There's no place in this world today to use fear. Facts are facts, opinions are opinions, and everyone has the right to voice theirs in a sensible and responsible way. But using fear tactics is not the way, we're better than that. Too many YT channels are using fear to get views with this, that's the real shame.

    I'm here in Michigan too Heather. I've had chickens for 30 years and I KNOW my birds too. I agree with you 💯%! We had the same identical issue. It's normal for hens to slow down in the winter yes but it is NOT normal for all of them to stop laying at exactly the same time like a switch had been turned off. That's what happened to us. We changed feed also and it took our hens 2 days to start to lay again. It took about a week and a half and we are now back up to full production. There was nothing normal about this. I have never had this happen in the 30 years we have had laying hens. I have learned that those folks who think they know everything are often the ones who know the least. Thank you for speaking out. I can tell you those people who had issues with the feed are NOT crazy ! My husband's nephew was feeding his chickens Dumor & his chickens stopped laying completely ! I did not have an issue , because we have not used Dumor or Grower's Pride feed . Our girls did slow down a little as to be expected in the Winter , but kept going . I am getting about 3 dozen eggs a day as well .
    I ferment part of their pellets for 3 days . I often add in a jar or 2 of older food I have canned & herbs I have dehydrated from my garden . I even dehydrate Chickweed , Plantain & Comfrey for them to make sure they are getting good nutrients in the Winter . When I have an abundance of eggs , they get scrambled eggs . I save all my egg shells , rinse & dry them , then grind them in my Nutri Bullet , then add that to the fermented feed for calcium .
    Chickens are like us people , they want to be treated special , too !

Well, it showed me how narrow some people's minds are.

      @The Kneady Homesteader well, thats on them. I don't believe in conspiracies either, but there were a lot of people complaining. Just because that recorded call ended up on a conspiracy minded group, doesn't make it false either. It was an actual recording. It's also annoying so many are know it alls. It's great some have no issues at all. The biggest takeaway for anyone with chickens is local feed over big box if you can't free-range. On the subject of Purina, they get recalls on dog food all the time. Difference is dog food is regulated, chicken feed is not really. Those 2 ingredients necessary for chickens are a must.

      @Helen Johnson,
      I'm not a homesteader, I live in a 1bdrm apartment with my hubby, 2 kitties, and various plant babies in Southern CA. So, I don't have any livestock but my aunt has more than a few chickens and a rooster or 2 at her new home in OK. I don't recall her mentioning a decline/ceasing of eggs being laid but I plan on asking when I call her this weekend.
      Though I am subscribed to a few channels such as, Justin Rhodes and Heather's, I don't follow along as regularly as I do the knitting channels. I've been 'hearing' about homesteaders egg laying issues, but hadn't heard that [people] are being discouraged from getting/having chickens, as well! It all just goes with the whole plan of discouraging people from homesteading at all__even just growing a kitchen garden to feed their families. Just really erks me!
      Families are making their best efforts to take care of themselves in the best possible ways, and they're being bullied, harassed, shamed for their reasoning.
      I'm so glad to catch up with the 'news' from all of you that really affects us all in the whole 'scheme' of things. And I, for one, do believe [it's] all a 'scheme' to keep people from being self-sufficient.
      At the same time, it appears the 'common folk' are making headway by standing up for and supporting one another on these subjects.
      Power to the people! 🇺🇸
      Thanks for the info.

    Our experience has been interesting. Our girls were free ranging and we were also feeding the producers pride from tractor supply. We have had chickens for a decade. We get fresh chicks each spring so while the older girls may slow down during their molts, the new girls are continuously laying. We weren't getting ANY eggs. Not one. We couldn't be certain whether they were just laying somewhere in the fields where we couldn't find them or if it was the feed. So, we stopped letting them out and I switched their feed. Within a few days we were getting on average 10-11 eggs a day.
    Here's where it gets interesting. I went to refill their feed and the store was out of what I had just switched them to. I bought something else. I thought it was still good, not the producers pride, but not what they were eating for the last several weeks. And I also bought a bag of the producers pride cracked corn to mix in. 2 days afterwards, the eggs have slowed way down. We are getting 3-5 eggs a day. I'm going today to hopefully get the feed that they were doing well with. It'll be very interesting to see if they pick back up again. And I think then I will be throughly convinced if I believe there's something wrong with the chicken feed

    Heather, this happened to us this past winter. The feed manufacturers if that's what you call them, add something to the food to stop your chickens from laying. It's done purposely to create food shortage. My husband is going to do the same thing about feeding them locally. But I saw a video on Rumble about this and showed it to my husband. About the naysayers, they can go stuff themselves. Don't underestimate what you know. You aren't a stupid woman. Don't let anyone make you think that you are. You keep on doing you, Honey. I think that the bad batches were sporadically delivered so they could play the crazy card. There are folk that have had chickens to die. My sister has had 7 to die. @@SeedSowerMichele I think you are right that some of the grain that sat too long on barges or was unloaded to on-ground storage was not suitable quality. TY for bringing up this subject Heather. My Chickens stopped laying around September 2022 after they molted. They never laid again until February 2023. I don't go to Tractor supply but my local feed dealer sells all Purina brands. It's Purina who is doing this, I've heard. But I have another problem that happened at the same time they stopped laying....my roosters stopped mounting my hens. I've been raising chickens, hatching chicks for over 20 years, I've never had a problem with hens not laying and roosters not mounting hens. I'm totally freaked out. I'm trying to find someone who doesn't use Purina to get feed from. I may have to drive 45 minutes to find someone who does. Not happy about this. ALSO if what they are feeding them is doing THIS to our chickens, what could it be doing to we who eat the eggs??? So glad to see you Heather, Bless you!

      @@nagrabagra4924 ,
      I'm in Southern CA and recall some years back there were two guys who regularly walked the beach near their homes and discovered an unusual phenomenon amongst the seabirds there. They noticed the male birds were not showing any interest in the females__in fact, they saw some males were exhibiting female characteristics!
      Through many months of observation, research, and documentation they concluded that all the plastics, chemicals, and pharmaceutical wastes that are dumped and broken down in the ocean waters have been changing the hormone production and patterning in these birds__to the point of morphing their physical gender. That is a scary fact!
      And you can be sure if it's been happening with seabirds it's also affecting other animals__humans, too!
      I bring this up because I recall, not long ago, how some pet food companies were discovered to have had plastics, mainly melamine, in their food products. One reason why I'm glad to be so particular about my kitties' food!
      So, who knows__definitely, something to contemplate.
      Hopefully, your chickies/roosters will all be themselves again soon.

No one asked for plastics, they did that on their own, it was their invention. While very useful in cases, I can't help but think that there are other ways to make products that we need without all the toxins. Stay safe. We're in the part of Michigan that's getting all the ice. And wouldn't you know it I woke at 3:30 and my house was so cold and discovered my furnace quit working. Ugh. Bad time for this to happen. Still, God is good, and he shall provide. Our chickens quit laying about September, not molting. They are just now laying occasionally. We use the same brand as you and haven't changed foods yet but have added more sunflower seeds. We are going to start going to the local elevator to get their food. Glad your chickens are producing eggs. And always listen to your knower. I'm learning to more and more.
    P.S love homestead heart. Such an awesome couple.

      @Angel ReDefined,
      Years ago, when I lived in NJ our boiler went right in the middle of winter__and I HATE getting out of bed when it's cold in the house! Doesn't it always happen that way?! 😱😛
      I hope you're sleeping in a nice warm house tonight.
      Love, Light, and Warm Blessings. 🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌😺

    Thank you for your information and video Heather. Our chickens weren't laying for quite a while either. Then we started giving them goat feed with the scratch and now they are starting to get with the program again!
