I am having to return my Lectric XPeak because of wobble problems and hitting my foot on the front tire on turns. The bike was great on hills, fast, and so stable!
I've been reading about this a lot lately with a number of bikes, but especially the XPeak it seems. When it wobbles, do you feel like it affects performance or safety of the ride, or is it more of an annoyance? I've read it seems to happen more with step thru bikes and if there is weight on the back rack.
I've lost 23 pounds on my Lectric XPeak. I love it as long as I'm careful with the pedal strikes and turning issues with hitting my foot (men's size 9). I was wondering how long the brake pads were going to last for me.....738 Miles. Time for it's bolt tightening anyways with the mechanic. That just seems a little soon to me but I have no earthly idea how long brakes usually last. I wonder how many miles the bike will last all together. The bicycle trails around my house are so much more extensive than I ever realized. I just can't bring myself to get it dirty as I store it in my living room. Plus I'm an Autistic Person with OCD so I like to keep things really clean. Oh yeah my lights went out after only 50 miles so they need to look at that too when it's in the shop. I wish it had a working brake light though for when in traffic. I heard the prototypes did but it didn't make it into procuction.
Not sure the big push for 4 inch wide tires in this category of e bikes. 4 inch won't fit on many regular tray style bike racks but 3 inch will. Get a lot of road noise on pavement . Fat tire bikes were the rage 10 years ago in the mountain bike industry but that demand has cooled off when people realize that those tire sizes were overkill and overly heavy
Loving the review format. Great job guys. Could you review some smart bike helmets. I'd like to hear your opinions on some different smart helmets. My wife and I use sena R1. Mostly for the intercom feature. Easily can hear each other and has decent distance. Are there better options out there? I want to see a review from real bike people like you.
Well some neighborhoods will have annoying residents that will say you were driving a dirt bike close to them. Or some bike paths say absolutely no motorized vehicles
Handlebar height should be higher than seat always.. 52V is better.. Nobody needs Torque sensors at age 40 plus yrs old. 1004 wh battery is better. 1800 watts peak is better.. branded brakes are best . Adjustable stem for bars are best.. 35 mph is a good starting point throttle only.
I’ve been researching this bike for a week or two and was liking what I was reading but then I tried to connect with Lectric both by phone and by driving to a shop that was listed as a Lectric dealer on their website. I couldn’t reach them on the phone but they were less than an hour’s drive and the weather was nice so we went for a drive to Paradise PA. We the shop is not a shop at all but someone’s home. The crazy thing is there was no one there at 1pm on a Tuesday. No answer at the door and what is crazy is there were 8-10 boxes piled up in the driveway that all said Lectric on the outside of them. I did a little quick math in my head and figured there was probably about $10,000 worth of e-bikes sitting in this guys driveway. Yes the boxes were that big. I didn’t get back home from our trip as we googled e-bike shops and found two of them in the area and went bike shopping. Today I finally was able to get through to someone (I’ve been trying for several days) and let the gal know about what had happened. She really did not seem to have a problem with this. Well this pushed me away from being interested in buying a Lectric bike for sure. Buyer beware. Oh, the gal on the phone advised me the next closest Lectric e-bike dealer to me is in Norfolk VA. That’s probably a five hour drive. I’m leaning toward Paselec or Aventon now. Paselec is more in line with my budget but the Aventon seems to be a little more attention to detail by the builder. I’m hoping to find an Aventon review here soon.
I placed an order for the Kepler but cancelled the order because I read multiple horror stories on Ariel Rider's absolutely terrible customer service and very poor quality control. A guy on TH-cam had his motor burn out after 50 miles. Took him a month to get a replacement and he had to install it himself. The bike looks good on paper, I'll give it that.

@@robmaxwell3678 it definitely affected the ride!

Just ordered mine from this review😉. Coincidentally on the last day of their End of Summer Sale. Thanks for the great thorough review!
How do you like it so far?

I agree but when you're going 28 mph on bumpy streets, those fat tires are pretty nice

I agree it could use wider handlebars, but I have to say Lectric got my attention with this one
Wish. I could get the one I have ordered. Wasto ship on Mayv20, now it got pished out to June 17. This was ordered 6 weeks ago. This sucks.
Do you have a review of the Xpress coming out soon?
We should have one on the way in for testing soon, but nothing has come to the shop yet.
Does it come with a front tire quick disconnect??
It has a thru axle with a toolless quick release. (You have to screw it in and out.) It doesn’t have old school dropout style quick release.
@@SchoolforHackers thanks I actually bought the hiboy instead
Another great review guys.. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. You do a good job though.
Why do people have this fascination with quiet bikes? Afraid to pass people and having them know you are on an E bike?
Well some neighborhoods will have annoying residents that will say you were driving a dirt bike close to them. Or some bike paths say absolutely no motorized vehicles
If people didn't care every ebike would sound like a power wheel.
I like to hear the bugs & birds around me, and the wind in the trees while I ride. A loud motor ruins that.

Really good list of tips. I love benefitting from other people’s experiences. Surprised about torque sensors: can you tell me why?
But those specs won’t work if you want it to be a street-legal Ebike.
I’ve seen enough customer service horror stories about this company to be kind of leery.

Nope! Not better than an Ariel Rider Kepler at $1,699.
