My late Dad had a llama 380 in the 70s and 80s 380. Nice gun .thinking of getting this for my oldest grandson for EDC. Might recommend for a bugout bag for others.,.. urban version as in sling bag.
Just picked one up. Hefty little gun and should be fun to shoot. Ask any one of the .380 doubters if they would volunteer to stand in front of one! Less recoil equals more rounds on target.
Good review by GunBlastdotcom, with a quick look at the Rock Island Armory “Baby Rock” in .380 caliber. It's a straight blow-back pistol, in it's design. Some of the Bably Rock features emulate the Colt 1911 pistols. [ John Browning was a genius with his delayed blowback/locked breech design. ] ... The Baby-Rock looks like a handy gun to own.
Love my .380 Baby Rock. Summer time this is my conceal carry. Other seasons I carry my full size .45 1911. Not hard to handle either if you've trained enough on them, and there never is enough training you can do.
I just got one of these sweet little guns and am liking it a lot, so far! They only come with one magazine now, so that's a bit of a bummer. I just installed DuraGrip grips, with Allen Head button screws to replace the ugly slotted screws. For anybody wanting to replace grip screws, you'll need a 6-40 x 1/4". Looks sweet. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, though.
Great video. Been reading your reviews through the years (20 or so), but this is the first TH-cam video I’ve seen of you. I trust your opinion, and this baby rock 380 has the cool factor too - which in my mind, I’ll no doubt shoot better with it. 👍
I purchased to "Baby Rock" in April 18 and although I like the gun there have been a few problems. (1) Trigger pull was 12# plus...sent back to Ria, they made adjustments for free in about 2 weeks. After return trigger was about 8# so the mighty smith worked it down to 5#. Works for me!! (2) Then discovered that the grip safety was NOT working!! I determined that this was caused by the trigger shoe being to small, leaving vertical slop. If you pressed the trigger at the top it caused the trigger bow to fall at the rear allowing the gun to fire regardless. If the trigger was pressed at the bottom the bow remained high enough to prevent firing as designed. PROBLEM: where to get a taller shoe an file to fit. Still working on that. Love the gun but minor issues are irritating anyway..
I had the Ruger lcp .380 and couldn’t hit anything more than 5 ft away. I can shoot larger calibers with no issue. That little .380 I just couldn’t do it. I been looking at this pistol, maybe a gun-shop would let me test fire
All of the Baby Rocks in the pipeline in july of 2019 had soft slides and would stop locking back after about 100 rounds. I checked out two of them with the same results. The manufacturer told me that ALL of the Baby Rocks had the same issue and that their technicians were aware of it. There were NO immediate plans to fix the meallurgy or to recall the defective products. They seemed unconcerned and assured me that they would not mind if I wrote up the results. Declined.
seems like it has a good sized barrel, bigger than the Bersa Thunder and certainly bigger than the 2.75 inch LCP, and nice amount of rounds for the magazine, 8.
Okay, I've never owned a 1911 type but I did hold a Rock Island and the grip safety felt much stiffer than the one on the Springfield. Can that be a problem?
If you have arthritis in your thumb or a little thumb, I suppose. The firearm needs a break in period and the safety will loosen up some over time. It can also be polished to help as well. Since this is a new gun you probably won't find it used, but you could also check out used Rock Island firearms and see how they feel after use.
Went to the links for dealers and for dealers to "compete" for my business. Looks like the BR380 is not listed and certainly not listed to have dealers compete for our business. Thanks for the effort though.
I am most likely way late and I just bought the baby rock. I have had the Makarov for 10 plus years. I reload and have intentionally loaded short, long hot, low and all kinds of shapes of bullets in one magazine trying to make it fail. No luck and have never had a failure to feed of any kind. The trigger is way better than the baby rock. Personally I have never shot a gun with so tough a trigger. I have had one failure to feed in my first 100 rounds. I got it real cheap so not complaining. I like the 1911 styles and why I bought it. I will still continue to carry a Glock or a Kimber
that'd be good for teaching youngsters how to shoot 1911 pistols until they grow up and can handle a full-size version. And yeah, these remind me of the old American Arms pistols back in the Clinton administration era
I have Colt Government which is just a miniature 1911. Was a great pocket gun in it's day but I would never carry .380 as a primary gun, even a 13 shot Browning. The only way today that I carry a .380 is a Ruger LCP in a FOBUS ankle holster as a 3rd pistol. BTW my Firestar M43 9MM is one of the most reliable guns I've ever owned
Luke Crum I never seen a rock island need 500 reds to fire properly I have 2 and have no idea what you’re talking about. Apparently you don’t own one, so I’m guessing you “heard” online
I LOVE your videos. No nonsense, laid back, smooth music selection. Keep it up Gunblast!!
Thanks! Please tell your friends.

As long as it goes bang when you pull the trigger it's a good option

@ChannelingDarkness Right on. I still haven't had a chance to shoot mine! I wish they would make some decent night sights for them.
Woke up this morning and seen an add with this thing for sale, $318. Can't wait for it to arrive 😍
Love the music very nice, calming. Great video, my step son just picked up a baby rock we work in a lot of crummy neighborhoods.

Nice to see you again Jeff.
Baby Rock 380 has a 4lb trigger pull. Great gun
I've wanted one of these for a while now. Thanks for the review guys!
Glad to hear Jeff Quin's voice, doin' what he did so well. 8-shot mag. (The newer one is said to have 7.)
RIP, Jeff. I miss seeing you in your videos.
We miss you Jeff.
I went out and bought one after watching this video!!! Thanks 😃👍
I saw online that Stoner CNC makes G-10 grips for the Baby Rock.
Also the baby rock at Rural King in Circleville Ohio was $379 limited lifetime warranty
Gun Genie still shows allocated. I've been watching for over a year.
I'd like to see one double stacked
Beretta 84fs
Beretta 84! I have one and it is a piece of art and a fantastic shooter.
but don’t you get hammer bite on the cheetahs? I had tisas clone and it was awful for hammer bite this baby rock has a nice beaver tail to negate that
miss this man......
Llamas are nice micros.
Accurate and works every pull.

Do a video review on the Rock Island Armory model 200 38 special. Thanks.

Nobody could shoot those lcps this is a shooter
Just purchased one for $329.00. $359.00 out Th e door with tax and FFL fee! Very pleased with the quality and price!
Love my baby but would love to replace the front sight but I'm having no luck, u happen to have a lead on any?
I’ve seen many asking the same question, did you ever find any? Looking myself.
Nope

I guess I need to shoot mine more, it hasn't failed yet.
I love 380. I love the 1911.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short but they also make a 10 round extended mag
grips and mags can be found on EBAY.

This or Sig's P238?
Would you chose it over a CW380 though?
Llama is being made in the Philippines today called Micromax
I just got The M1911A .380 pistol. It's real hard to load the magazine. Is there something I can do to make that step a bit easier?

Just bought one-love it! BUT... that trigger is way too stiff...7-9 lbs... having some work done on mine to get a reasonable trigger pull.
Jeff how would you rate this to say a Browning 1911-380 Pro ?
Those are cute, Jeff. Just like you!
TexasSmoking If you think that's gay don't ever view the comments in "Garand Thumb" videos.
TexasSmoking 😂😂😂
what a nifty little handgun, gotta get me one

I own both, you shouldn’t notice any difference. Trigger on my RIA is noticeably better than my Springfield’s.
RIA
Purchased a new RIA because of this video
One hundred and FIRST! Naw that doesn't count does it?
Good smaller caliber pistol. Nothing wrong with a .380, sure beats a sharp stick too.
nice one Jedd
For a 1911 style .380 I much prefer a safety that engages & locks the slide unlike some of it's competition. Are these still made in the Phillippines?
It is SINGLE ACTION ONLY.
Went to the links for dealers and for dealers to "compete" for my business. Looks like the BR380 is not listed and certainly not listed to have dealers compete for our business. Thanks for the effort though.

yass-umm another great review, keep-umm coming
I love my baby rock.
I think I want one.
Friend,
Will there be a .32 ACP version?
…..RVM45
I have heard nothing of a 32 version. I would think it not likely, at least for sale in the US.
jeff
Almost obsolete round in the USA
great subject matter... now if we could do something about the camera/cameraman noise.....
Good review , Great!!!!
Belíssima arma magnífica 👍👍
Sounds like ya got a woodpecker on the camera ; ) Pesky woodpeckers!
Man. I can't decide between this and a makarov in 380.
I am most likely way late and I just bought the baby rock. I have had the Makarov for 10 plus years. Doesn't matter how good it shoots if it's unavailable in my area. So far, Rock Island is underwhelming.
So much slimmer than the square plastic guns.
wish i could put thus video in 33 lmao
Ill stand behind a 22, literally. Ill definitely stand behind a 380
Wouldn't it be awesome if they were double stack
Would be cool if they made a model that was double stacked magazine but still had this single stack model as an option.
it looks so small in his hand
that'd be good for teaching youngsters how to shoot 1911 pistols until they grow up and can handle a full-size version.
And yeah, these remind me of the old American Arms pistols back in the Clinton administration era
Not really. I bought one for this reason but the “snap” is pretty stout on this blow back gun.
Strange isnt it?
Want a small belly gun, then add big sights, long beaver tail, and they want extended mags.
People are wierd.
Blas altamirano
Have you gotta squirrel munching on your camera?? Weird background noise is weird!

back up pistol, that's what I'd use it for too. Have a BG380 on my ankle most days.
Make a 9mm I’ll buy one
Rudy Padilla .380 is a 9mm short
Thomas Pyles ya but then I’d have to spend more money on ammo and the caliber wouldn’t be universal in all my guns lol
Rudy Padilla they won’t because it’s blowback. 9mm is too high of pressure. The recoil spring would need to be crazy stiff to make it happen.
Robert H WOW
Robert H I guess the Sig Sauer p938 is a dream right it's smaller than that and it's a Direct blow back action and it's a 9mm imagine that
Can you give me $5.00 bucks to take one.
Who is their right mind carries a bottom of the barrel 1911 in .380?? I wouldn't carry a RIA if it was .45ACP...
Luke Crum who cares
Gulf Breeze why carry a gun that requires a 500 round break in period before it starts working correctly?
Luke Crum I never seen a rock island need 500 reds to fire properly I have 2 and have no idea what you’re talking about. Apparently you don’t own one, so I’m guessing you “heard” online
Then don't.
Then don't
