    Your consistency is incredible! This is where I struggle. I have recently started a daily routine of 5 am workouts, getting ready at the gym, then heading to school. I love being done for the day and I can head home after school.
    Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely check out your fitness planner.

      Thank you so much for your kind words! 🖤 Consistency is definitely the hardest part but the longer you stick with it, the easier it gets to stay consistent. I commend you for doing early morning workouts... that's something I've never stuck with. That's the key... find what works for you!

    Childhood athleticism is soooo important for adult health, I'm so grateful you shared this perspective. So many people who don't have that background wonder why things are so hard in adulthood and that's like 90% of the reason. It's so important for kids to do this shit just to set them up well.

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely agree that experiences in childhood can play a factor. But, I know plenty of people who had zero experience with athletics during their childhood and still have found fitness in their adult life. The great thing about fitness is that anyone can find a form that works for them! 🖤

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Heather! I definitely recommend joining the Macros Inc. group on Facebook (if you have Facebook) because you will learn SO much about macros! When it comes to gaining muscle, it's very difficult to do in a calorie deficit unless you are new to lifting. It is recommended that you go through a cut cycle by eating in a calorie deficit to lose body fat and then a bulk cycle by eating in a slight calorie surplus to gain muscle. But, know that gaining muscle is a very slow process... in optimal conditions, you will only gain about a pound of muscle (or a little less) a month.

    If I have taken anything away from this overview of your exercise history, it is that you are driven to the point that you tend to run yourself into the ground. I’m very happy that you have decided to slow down, and just focus on running a business instead of running a business and teaching and running a TH-cam channel. It sounds like you are beginning to develop more boundaries, balance, and the ability to take care of yourself instead of just pushing yourself all the time.

    I love your fitness journey! I’m very similar in the running aspect of it! I was a two year captain for cross country (was a top 5 runner for my team until my senior season when I was plagued with injury and ended up having back surgery before I started college). I wasn’t cleared to run for almost 10 months so I picked up weights and lifted (strong in the arms and shoulders). I missed running (it was my stress reliever). Fast forward to 2013, I have been working long hours (40+ hours) for six years and it was starting to take its toll mentally more than physically on me. I had successfully run one OCR and was training for a second when injury struck (needless to say I DNF the second OCR). I wanted a race finish and needed something positive going. That’s when I found your channel and watched your Boston marathon journey! I ended up running the four major races where I live in six months including my first marathon (boy my parents said you are crazy)! I bought the TOTD fitness planner and cannot wait to use it as I plan for my second marathon!

Maybe a basic master grocery list with some ideas for healthy, different recipes you can create from the ingredients. I would love a list of sample weekly lunches and dinners that don't require great talent in the kitchen. I only have to feed myself, so I can make whatever I like. When you track your macros do you just guess or weigh your food? was it different during your 8 week cut or still the same way you do now in maintaining?

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Daisy! I used the free Macros Inc. calculator to figure out what my macros should be and I use a food scale to measure my food. I measured everything when I was in the cut to lose body fat but now that I'm maintaining I'm more flexible. I typically don't measure anything on the weekends (because I want more freedom) and don't measure every single meal during the week. Hopefully that makes sense!

    How do you keep the motivation during busy teaching times of the year?

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Kristin! For me, going to the gym after school was always something I looked forward to because it was my way to releasing stress after a long day of teaching. Again, I LOVE lifting so it was never something I felt unmotivated with. I will say that the nutrition part can be hard because I love to stress eat LOL. For me, it helped to have my meals planned out so I didn't even have to think about it and I would plan treats when I knew I was going to have a stressful day or week. Hopefully that makes sense!

    I heard you mention you were working while in college. What job did you work? I’m working as a receptionist full time while studying education and it’s very difficult to say the least 🥲

    • @coryluskat
      @coryluskat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's difficult af to work while in Uni, I think most of us have to do it in the states and it absolutely blows. I was working a service job nights and weekends, and work study at school, It was so rough. School was basically how little effort can I put into this and get away with it because I'm tired 😂

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Abigail! I also worked as a receptionist while in college. It can definitely be difficult to balance. At the time, I was basically just running and would squeeze in my runs whenever I had time. Sometimes it was between classes or after my internship, sometimes it was before or after work, and some days I couldn't get to it and that's okay. Honestly, the nutrition component is a lot more important than working out. I suggest meal prepping once per week so you have all your meals ready to go!

    I am a junior in High school and have not done any sports but want to start lifting, should I start running first and then start lifting?

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelly! That is fantastic that you want to start lifting! You definitely don't need to start running first... anyone can start lifting even without previous experience! I would suggest working with a personal trainer or someone else who can show you proper form for the exercises so you don't get injured!

    I would love it if you would do more videos about fitness! I gained a lot of weight in the later half of high school, my early college years, during COVID lockdown, etc. I recently got into working out last December. I started out just doing a 20 minute home workout at first (cause COVID) but since May I’ve been going to the gym on a regular basis. I’m currently working towards a goal weight (l’m about 5lbs away from my first goal weight and about 15lbs away from my actual goal weight) so I’m trying to lose weight, and build muscle/get stronger. I would love to see more videos like this! I struggle with rest days too!❤️❤️❤️
