For the owl go. You're right, the Tenacious is a an absolute workhorse. Strips wire and can wedge an apple on the same day. Great upload. 👍

Thanks! I’ve long defended the Tenacious’s price in 8Cr13MoV due to design, but the recent price hikes have finally brought that to an end. That, and the Tenacious Lightweight remains pretty affordable. As such, I see the G-10 Tenacious gaining more supersteel variants in order to justify the price.

I really like this version, might have to pick one up! I've had the regular 8cr Tenacious for years and it still remains in my regular carry rotation. Cheers, buddy!

It’s a spectacular knife. I wouldn’t get the G-10 Tenacious in 8Cr these days with the Tenacious LW twenty bucks cheaper, but if you can find them new old stock, they’re worth it.

I've had one for almost 8 years now in 8cr, done everything from light bushcraft to food prep to random small knife tasks at construction sites. Never imagined the steel would hold so well, sharpens easilly, and can get scary sharp with low effort. I am surprised at how resistant to stains the steel is, but i always tried to clean the blade after use so that factors in it a lot. Love this knife, easily the best quality 50$ folder i have ever bought. Grip is outstanding as well, feels very solid in hand, good weight distribution.

The 8Cr13MoV is Sanrenmu heat-treated. They have excellent heat treats.

It's because Spyderco & Kershaw make the best 8cr13mov.

I bought the LW S35VN semi serrated version last month for $75.68 after taxes. Now I would've preferred the plain edge version but oh well at such a sweet deal I just couldn't pass it up. It's now one of my favorites & edge retention is so good it gets wicked sharp after stropping it.

First Tenacious that I'd actually consider. I've said it before, but their FRN/8Cr model always struck me as 'Byrd materials for Spyderco prices'.

The fit and finish on the S35VN version of the Tenacious LW is actually really good, but then, at $120, it ought to be.

I'm torn between Resilience in S35VN and this one )))

If rust resistance is a concern, go with S35VN. If it’s of no matter, M4.

What has always turned me off to the tenacious was the crappy 8cr steel. Love the design hate the steel. Until now. The m4 version is worth every penny. Its just the upgrade this fantastic design needed. Its a beast. I dont understand the fixation on the importance of the action. Its a tool not a toy. And make no mistake This knife is all about work. My favorite work knife in fact.

In the case of the Tenacious, what a lot a lot of people saw was the “squeaking” noise the action makes without tuning it. Honestly, the Tenacious Lightweight doesn’t seem to have this (at least my S35VN version), so I’m going to take a stab and say that some people figured “well, if they can at least remove the squeaky noise from the Lightweight, why not the G-10 version?” Agreed otherwise, though the 8Cr that the Tenacious has is heat-treated by Sanrenmu, so it’s at least a little bit better (although nowhere near their 12C27, which is to that steel what Paul Bos is to 420HC).

The squeaky noise was there at first but went away after about a week
