Rock on, brother! I know exactly how you feel. In the U.S., our music has become style over substance. If you haven't already found them, I recommend some of the European "Symphonic metal" bands, such as Within Temptation (Netherlands), Eclipse (Sweden), Amaranthe (Sweden), and others.
Have you listened to the band "the warning"? They are from Mexico and they are definitely more rock than metal but I found them about 5 years ago and they are definitely talented.. there 3 sisters.
Been a melodic / symphonic speed metal fan for years.. Sonata Arctica.. Helloween, Stratovarius.. Brilliant to see new talented bands coming along.. especially with all the manufactured computer crap around.. Great music, brilliant song.. 4 beautiful women... Looking forward to more.. they all good singers but the green dress and the black lace dress ones are my favorites they sound more like the female fronted heavy metal i usually listen to...... that being said the 4 styles of voices sound great cant wait to hear more
