That roll around the soldier’s is called a bed roll or blanket roll . The soldiers would carry there personal stuff in it when on light marching order.
Bedroll! Thankyou!! 😀 I couldn't bloody think of the word. I also read that it was useful protection in melee as it would help against bayonet thrusts and slashes from sabres 👍
True story here. While working on the TV mini series North and South book 2. I was an extra in the filming. They used a lot of reenactors for that show. We were getting ready to attack Fort Stedman I believe in the show when I decided to wear my bed roll when we charge the fort. When the armies charged during the American Civil War the front rank would go to charge bayonet or a port arms. The rear rank would go to the right shoulder shift and keep their Bayonets high in the air. As we were running across the field during the filming the guy in front of me in the front rank took a hit and his rifle fell to the ground butt first. The rifle fell backwards with a fixed bayonet which pierced my bed roll right center of my chest. As we were at the double quick the bayonet went into my bed roll and slid up toward my shoulder needless to say it stopped me in my tracks. Had I not had my bedroll on I dread to think what may have happened to me.
@@RockinL7BuckingBulls wow, kind of proving their use right there. Weirdly, i was watching North & South a couple of weeks ago but still got more to watch
I Use PVA glue for the bases .Works for MDF and plastic renedra's . The figures don't come off and will pop off when ever the day you need to change . Another glue is Helmar 450 sticky glue . Go get LeadBears Tufts they are self sticking plus cheaper 120 @$10AUD
Thanks for the tutorial, I was thinking about buying contrast paints for some time and I finally decided to do it thanks to you. Not only do they give nice detail to the figure (which is very important for me) but also make the painting process much faster which allows me to get them ready on the table in no time (which is also very important for me since before I managed to finish only 2 minis in an hour and do at least 4 a day). Since I'll be also doing a Landwehr set soon, I can say that this was pretty helpful, about the historical accuracy thing you talked about: I can say that the only slight inaccuracy you made was having men with feldmutzes or fatigue caps alongside men with British supplied stovepipe shakos which were mainly given to reserve regiments but were also briefly worn by Westphalian Landwehr in 1815 and the regiment you painted which was, judging by the cuffs and collar, The Kurmark-Neumark Landwehr wore only feldmutzes just like the other Landwehr regiments raised in 1813 in the eastern parts of Prussia (Silesia, Pomerania, East Prussia etc.) but besides that, I don't see any other inaccuracies of higher importance so I think it's good in that aspect. Anyway, great paint job and I hope you do more Napoleonics in the future.
Thanks very much im glad you enjoyed it. The contrast paints definitely help with time when you are painting big blocks of infantry like this 😀 Thanks for the info it's always good to hear 👍
Love this video. How can that only take you an hour!! I've just splurged on my first 28mm Napoleonic army. Muskets have always been painful for some reason for me,so I've ordered the wyldwood contrast like you too ! More videos , i find them really engaging. Thank you
Thanks very much. Will have more soon. I always find muskets a pain and this way seems to do them well enough that they look good but don't take up too much time 👍
Thanks mate , pleased you like it, i tried a few new things in this one. I like mixing up the look, no one can tell me that after months on campaign things didn't get a bit mixed up / lost / replaced 😉😀
excellent mate they certainly look war weary ive just finished the same set ive put a video on a couple of days ago its a really nice set i enjoyed painting them
I saw mate, i really like what you did, id just finished filming it when i saw yours, part of me wished i had done the yellow facings as well as they look really smart 👍 next box i'll do that 😀
Thanks 👍 yeah sorry about that, by the time i realised i had done all the other figures so couldn't re-film those parts. I've changed my set-up a bit so a few issues to iron out.
Thanks, i use Geek Gaming stuff , I've had a quick look on the website, there is a stickist listed for the USA www.geekgaming.co.uk/pages/trade-stores-being-updated 👍

Very nicely done mate. I must try using the pale skin as an undercoat as I like the effect
Cheers mate, yeah it gives a slightly warmer look to the skin to work from. To be fair it looks fine witbout the additional highlights 👍

Will we see these chaps featuring in a black powder report any time soon?
Great work ;-)
Haha probably not, i decided not to pursue the Prussians and focus on the Hanoverians, so these will probably end up getting sold 😁

7th Son thanks
Some Gouchy reinforcement ? :D
Haha, i'll be adding some in the future, need to build up another 3 battalions for these guys first 😀
Simile and effected painted
Thanks very much 👍
The wrap wasn’t for protection 😂😂😂
The wrap is the rolled greatcoat, it was worn over the shoulder for ease of carry but it would also provide some defence against sabres strikes.
