Since it's been brought up a bit, re: no Lamborghinis in this game (while they are present in the arcade), pinning this explanation that I posted in the comments: The Lambo was removed from the 2020 version of the AC game (still present in arcades that didn't update the software). This is due to costs and the pandemic. Licensing some of these cars is not cheap, and we're not talking a few thousand dollars either (a brand like Toyota can want $500k+ to license their cars, as one example. Lamborghini is going to cost in that realm or more). Raw Thrills is not a big company, in no way comparable to a multi-billion dollar company like Microsoft; When the pandemic hit, Raw Thrills was in a precarious situation. Their sales dropped by 75%. Their *only* source of income has been arcade sales. They still wanted to produce new content, but they can't be stupid with how they spend their money. Arcade games cost in the realm of $3-$4 million to develop, which doesn't count other costs, like continued manufacturing, or license renewals. If the pandemic hadn't happened, then it's probable that there would have been no vehicle change, but we also probably wouldn't have got this port either. If they bankrupted themselves over licensing decisions, then no more company, no more games, and certainly no ports. Microsoft, as an example used in the comments, has the Xbox and all related accessories/merchandise; They have their PC business, industry/server businesses, etc. It's basically apples to oranges. Could the Lambo show up in the Switch port down the road? Sure, if sales are there to warrant it. The same goes for Cruis'n USA/World/Exotica ports. It all depends on how this game does.
That's what I don't understand. I enjoyed the hell out of USA/World which had no licensed vehicles. In fact, to my knowledge, the only vehicle changed in the N64 ports was the Porsche 911 Cabrio in World which looked proper in Arcade but was remodeled to look less like one in the N64 port. Can that not be done sensibly today? Cruis'n USA actually featured a Corvette C2 Stingray which is now available in Blast version 2.0/Switch. GTA does well making "represents a real life vehicle but is legally distinct because of cosmetic change 1/2/3/4." If it had meant more tracks/proper porting, I'd of been in favor of just them making their own knock-off variations. Then, not only could we have more vehicles, but more variety and not be tied to the BS of these licensing agreements. The Switch port removed the C7 Corvette and replaced it with a C8. Yet the C1 and C2 are added, probably because Chevrolet wanted the game to focus on their current production model over the outgoing C7 and knew the C1 and C2 would just bring nostalgia factor to the brand. Their overall hope is someone will want to buy a C8. Same goes for Nissan which only featured a 370Z and GT-R, but no previous models. The Hummer pick-up and Wrangler-knock off were removed and the Hummer EV was put in, again, because it's something GM is trying to sell. But without that license agreement, there is no "Feature this car or you can't have this one.." and other BS clauses they tend to include. Which would allow more variety/freedom.
@@whydoiexistrnwhy No not at all, I just wanted to get the right info out since a few people have been bringing it up (here and elsewhere) - it's all good!
This was a genuinely honest review and I have to agree with most of it. I feel more confident about buying this game now. Looks like I’m going to have a lot of fun!
Great review! There are more arcade ports coming to consoles these days, especially with the recent release of ESPGaluda II which is now localised, as well as Mushihimesama. If you add a steering wheel controller, you can nearly replicate the whole game overall! I suppose these days, its hard to come to the arcade these days and have a blast but we can now do this in the comfort of our homes!
@Arcade Heroes It would be nice to be able to use the cars from the original 2017 version of Cruis'n Blast in the Switch version, especially the Corvette C7, the Hummer HX, & the Lamborghini cars: Aventador, Huracan, Veneno, Countach, & Diablo. Not to mention that the closest thing we'll get to driving Lamborghini Cars in Cruis'n Blast again is driving the Police Cruiser in the Switch game, as it strongly resembles the Veneno. AND, you can still see the Lamborghini Aventador, Corvette C7 Z06, & the Hummer HX on the picture of the game's are cabinet in not just the trailer, but when the "Classic Arcade" selection is highlighted in the game's main menu, too. However, hopefully if we can reach Raw Thrills with feedback, AND if the game does well, all the 2017 cars (Especially the Corvette C7, Hummer HX, & 5 Lamborghini Cars) end up being added to the Switch Game as DLC, along with more new cars & manufacturers (say like Ford, Dodge, etc.), new tracks, & new modes like battle races (using power ups similar to Dirty Drivin'). And another thing, it'd be nice for the Corvette C8 to get an UPGRADED spoiler when the body / chassis is upgraded, just like the Corvette C7. And in addition to all the cars mentioned earlier, Raw Thrills should add all the cars (Saleen S5S Raptor; SSC Ultimate Aero; Unknown Sports Car; etc.), upgrades (especially for Lamborghinis), & tracks from Cruis'n Blast's betas: Cruis'n Redline & Cruis'n Adventures. (once again, if Cruis'n Blast for Switch does well).
