Church is Beautiful... Organist is wonderful and so are his/her registrations... Organists breaths beautifully between phrases which helps people with the singing... Last verses organists changes harmony BEAUTIFULLY!!! BRAVO to the organist!!!
Thanks @Joseph Soltero for uploading this victorious hymn! :-) I love this hymn and taught it to my choristers back in 1988... great memories and the cheerful tune and text make me smile every time. Truly, *CHRIST IS RISEN!* :-)
Wonderful ! How great that St Bartholomew's has escaped the generalized secularization and desecration of the high Anglican tradition we knew and loved for years, and which was generally taken away from us in the 1980s. God Grant Many Years to all at St Bartholomew's !
Good to hear some mention the gaps between verses. My theory is that this is so the congregation can have a breath. I always say to choirs - breathe out, breathe in, and carry on - in a way, it is almost like the breath in the middle of a verse in plainsong. So often I hear people say, count two, or count three - but that to me never works for a congregation.
1 At the Lamb's high feast we sing praise to our victorious King, who has washed us in the tide flowing from his pierced side; praise we him whose love divine gives his sacred blood for wine, gives his body for the feast, Christ the victim, Christ the priest. 2 Where the paschal blood is poured, death's dark angel sheathes his sword; Israel's hosts triumphant go through the wave that drowns the foe. Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed, paschal victim, paschal bread; with sincerity and love eat we manna from above. 3 Mighty victim from the sky, pow'rs of hell beneath thee lie; death is conquered in the fight, thou hast brought us life and light: hymns of glory and of praise, risen Lord, to thee we raise; holy Father, praise to thee, with the Spirit, ever be.
Dear Mr TheoHimself... I just "uploaded a "few" tunes on You Tube... The wedge Prelude and Fugue of Bach... a few piano piece (since I'm also a pianist) by Liszt (including the Mephisto Waltz, the b minor Sonata and the St Francis Legends No1) for the Liszt anniversary year (last year.) And the Canticle Revelations I was commissioned to write for the last Papal visit of John Paul II to the States... If you have time, take a listen and let me know what you think... cheers!
