I would like to see you use a hinge from the last example you had with a threaded inserts. Great information as always.

Hey Jake, great video! I love these compilation videos where you compare similar projects.
Incidentally, I've been working on a project that incorporates another hinge design. (Number 9?) The project isn't finished, but since you brought up the topic, I posted a bit about the hinges I've built for it in the community.

You might also utilize another item for hinges (and other connection ideas). Namely, you can use 1/2" IMC (must buy from an electrical contractor supply company). It's a little sturdier so harder to bend BUT it fits almost exactly inside of 3/4" EMT. Only .009 of an inch clearance. We built small portable soccer goals with IMC bottom corners and 3/4" EMT for the rest.

That is awesome Doug! I have been looking for something like that for a while now. We are going to pick some up and try it out. Thanks so much for the comment!

@@MakerPipe Note that the fit is so tight that using a pipe cutter will crush the inner diameter enough to prevent the IMC from entering the EMT until re-finishing the opening. Of course any other deformation will also prevent joins. Cheers!

Jake- working on aluminum 1" OD frame which sits on 2 pontoons- to form my fly fishing float. Need to incorporate a hinge T, where arms rotate on rear horizontal pipe. The leg of the T receives top end of 16" length of 1" pipe which has small axle and a pair of launching wheels at lower end. Wheels rotate down for pulling craft to launch. Then rotate "up" 270 degrees to rest, then the fun being. Point is, do you make 1" fittings which will work for this?

I'm just now finding these products and videos. Thanks for supplying the ideas for hinges. Which of these ideas do you think would be the strongest for a horizontal plane? I'm considering your idea of a maker pipe slate bed but with the ability to lift it up to access underneath. Thoughts? Comments welcomed!

Thanks for the comment Toby! I would say the T Connector hinge method would be the best because it allows you to maintain a long continuous span of horizontal pipe. The other solutions require you to break up the span to insert the hinge solution.

The first method should be easier for me, as I don't have the threaded pipe or other parts.

Great stuff! Say! I need to know how heavy this conduit is. I can't find the information online. I want to build a backpacking project, so weight is important. Any idea? Say how many pounds per foot for a given size, for example?

can I ask the community a question. I have two pieces of wood (11x14 1/2'' thick), I would like the pieces to be attached with a hinge so the ends are very close together that will allow the two pieces to close flush on either direction. imagine a piece of paper folded in half and additionally in the opposite direction. any advice or leads

Can you point me to a video that shows me how to make a hinged adjustable canopy? I want an adjustable hinge where I attach to my fence posts or my house, a canopy that can be lowered and raised based on the hight on the sun? I'm consider making a canopy and also a towel rack by the pool but want them to be able to be folded away when not used if possible.
