anyone reading this, don't work on your own equipment unless you really know what you're doing. this guy didn't even use a multimeter to check that the power is off, which you would get fired for immediately if you were working for a company. just because you pull that disconnect out or flip a switch or whatever, it does not mean that the power is off. also, that fan blade doesn't always pop off, so good luck with that unless you magically have a puller hanging around the house. working on equipment that can kill you is never recommended unless you have the education to do so. if you're going to make a how to video, at least make it more in depth so someone doesn't kill themselves. just because your equipment is set up this way doesn't mean everyone else's is the same. please don't post videos like this unless you're a professional, which you are clearly not.

Yeah, don't take the time to learn how to work on your own equipment and basic safety precautions. Instead hire a pro and pay them thousands to do easy repairs!

@carolinahollow you forgot voiding your warranty. Instead, let's just give people enough information to screw their equipment up or die. If you're going to make DIY videos, be a little more involved with ALL parts of it. Cheap stupid people are eventually going to have to call a pro sooner or later.

I would recommend discharging the capacitor before making contact with any of the terminals. Capacitors retain an electrical charge even after the power is off and can easily cause a shock hazard.
