    Oh my Florence Lawrence was the first movie star nxt was Mary Pickford and Wallace Reid. I watched some of her films on YOU TUBE!!!. SO GLAD THERE AROUND. Shows us how MASTER DIRECTOR D.W. GRIFFITH made movies! We are lucky to be able to see early Hollywood. Im sorry Florence ended her life that way but they didnt know anything about cancer of any kind. This happened when she injured her spine i presume. She was a great actress. Silent pictures you had to use your expression and they did have written dialogue you could see.

    Can you really die from coal dust (outside of a coal mine)?

      It is reported that he died from coal gas poisoning. So, he probably breathed in carbon monoxide.

      Coal gas was used for lighting.
