- In the heart of the Appalachian mountains lies a town without wifi, home to an eclectic mix of foreign scientists, locals, and those who claim to be sensitive to electromagnetic waves (Wifi). Welcome to our journey to learn more about the people and places on our country - this is Green Bank, West Virginia.
About us: we are two college students traveling the country to learn more about different perspectives in a divided time. As we go from place to place, we hope you join us in learning about the destinations of the United States!
If you visit Green Bank, make sure to stay at the Mountain Quest Inn! www.mountainqu...

What kind of terrorist pours milk THEN cereal???
I was thinking the same thing lmao
LMBO! Yeah, kinda bassackwards, ain't it?!? 😂
😂😂
Someone who likes their cereal crispy.
Less backwards than that slack jawed yokel talking about bidenomics...
Our state is absolutely breathtaking in so many ways! The mountains and the meth heads. The rivers and the rip off wage an hour. The valleys and the vile heath care system. The caverns and the crackheads. You name it, we got it, good and ugly!
What about the bad?
West Washington Go Mart used to be a trip.
The opioid epidemic has hit us West Virginians hard, its difficult to go to any town and not see crackheads everywhere you go.
@@dr.gorgeous Not by accident either.
They regret not having more jobs in town, but if there was, more people move in, and the town would become less friendly.
catch-22 ain't it?
Yep . They always forget jobs means people which increases property prices, home prices and taxes. North Central WV has seen a gas boom but it's brought in lots out of state workers . Once the gas goes so will the jobs ...just like coal and logging . Sadly WV is known as a prostitute state to companies ( I've personally heard this from big gas company employees) ...wave some cash and we let them have thier way
Let's be honest here, 99% of city slickers would never move anywhere without any sort of wireless signal.
Feel like I’m watching the next Max and Nev. Excellent work guys! Looking forward to more.
That’s awesome to hear, thanks!
Great video, came here from your Tiktok
Thanks for coming on over ❤
cannot stand this guerilla new age documentary/journalist style of video editing and storytelling. stop being so dramatic and pretentious for the love of god
The first thing you need to do is pronounce Appalachia correctly!!!!!
Second that.
Appleappchia?
6:26 "i blame bidenomics" then in the same breathe says 6:33 xD typical southern boomer/gen x
Great job guys. Thanks for coming here and being respectful 🫶🏼🫶🏼
That's always the goal! We had a great time in Green Bank ❤️
Saw ur TikTok, was really excited to see this only to find out it's 10mins long? This is so interesting - could have at least made it 30mins.
That's the way to live. No wifi. Don't let anyone come in like a home owners association. Keep things simple. I remember when all we had was a party line phone. There were no cell phones and everything was fine without one. This is a great community.
We have wifi all over the county just not on the observatory property.
@@dalekinnison4846Wait, so why do all the "EMF sensitive" folks move there?
@@realSethMeyersThey are crazy. I have seen them go in a store that has WiFi not knowing and complain about their neighbors having WiFi.
Yea that's the great way to live as a technologically incompetent chimp that is trying to hide from evolution and expansion. Wv is failing as a whole due to the people who are simply stuck in that old head mindset and ideology that it is a bad thing to embrace tech.
@@dalekinnison4846 you're wrong, there is scientific evidence that proves wi-fi and other strong radio waves affect human health:
Repeated Wi-Fi studies show that Wi-Fi causes oxidative stress, sperm/testicular damage, neuropsychiatric effects including EEG changes, apoptosis, cellular DNA damage, endocrine changes, and calcium overload. Each of these effects are also caused by exposures to other microwave frequency EMFs, with each such effect being documented in from 10 to 16 reviews. Therefore, each of these seven EMF effects are established effects of Wi-Fi and of other microwave frequency EMFs. Each of these seven is also produced by downstream effects of the main action of such EMFs, voltage-gated calcium channel (VGCC) activation. While VGCC activation via EMF interaction with the VGCC voltage sensor seems to be the predominant mechanism of action of EMFs, other mechanisms appear to have minor roles. Minor roles include activation of other voltage-gated ion channels, calcium cyclotron resonance and the geomagnetic magnetoreception mechanism. Five properties of non-thermal EMF effects are discussed. These are that pulsed EMFs are, in most cases, more active than are non-pulsed EMFs; artificial EMFs are polarized and such polarized EMFs are much more active than non-polarized EMFs; dose-response curves are non-linear and non-monotone; EMF effects are often cumulative; and EMFs may impact young people more than adults. These general findings and data presented earlier on Wi-Fi effects were used to assess the Foster and Moulder (F&M) review of Wi-Fi. The F&M study claimed that there were seven important studies of Wi-Fi that each showed no effect. However, none of these were Wi-Fi studies, with each differing from genuine Wi-Fi in three distinct ways. F&M could, at most conclude that there was no statistically significant evidence of an effect. The tiny numbers studied in each of these seven F&M-linked studies show that each of them lack power to make any substantive conclusions. In conclusion, there are seven repeatedly found Wi-Fi effects which have also been shown to be caused by other similar EMF exposures. Each of the seven should be considered, therefore, as established effects of Wi-Fi.
My great grandfather was born here, I’ve vacationed here since a baby and have my own spot of land. Beautiful place. WiFi ban isn’t truly banned. People have satellite WiFi.
pouring milk first is wild
Great Video.. You guys really have something special going on with your reporting. Good Luck and will follow your journey.
Glad to hear it!! Appreciate your support
no better place than West by God!
Used to go to camp barefoot music festival out there. The most peace I felt for years.
I’ve driven by several times and there is no way to capture the true scale of that thing on camera. It’s absolutely huge and amazing. A must see.
Really interesting story ... great job guys!
Thanks we're glad you enjoyed it!!
Live in Marlinton. Green Bank right up the road. It’s a special place
There ain't no "G" in Marlinton!
@@mpudlinskiemt You got that right!
No wifi, but, the largest moving radio telescope. Sooo the government has wifi on HGH there, but you cant.
No, they don’t. They use wired connection. The satellite isn’t even funded by the federal government any longer.
Ive watched 3 videos straight from your channel and i have to say, this is a great wholesome channel, good job guys👌🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks we appreciate it!
Did I miss the part about the missing Wi-Fi?
Omg this channel is new ! It’s it’s producing high quality videos with great contents ! I am subscribing right now so when this channel becomes over 10 million subscribers, I can say that “I was a subscriber before 5k subscribers” .. I wish there was a way to invest in TH-cam channels like Stock market 📈
Aw thank you 🙌
I was just there. Got off of work the other morning after a long 12 hour shift and decided to take an impromptu trip up into Wva to finally see it. As a huge lover of astronomy it was long overdue. Now I need to go back someday and take the tour.
this is super well made, keep it up- hope i’m here early (saw your tiktok)
Same and I agree, really well made!
Glad you liked it :)
You guys are like reverse-missionaries. You're moving around visiting with people and eventually you'll find Jesus.
This is going to be a great ride! Should definitely visit my old hometown Duluth, MN
This isn’t true, people have WiFi nearby. And there isn’t great cell service because there aren’t many people so there’s not benefit to having towers (same as most rural areas)… More clickbait BS.
Ah yes Crossroads America..the next chapter in West Virginia Povertytubers
making views off a state that's hated so much by the federal government they pretend we don't exist.
Bar Harbor, Maine, tried this for years.
I have driven past here a dozen times to head to the snowshoe mtn ski resort
My 3rd video this morning. Very well done!
This place is wild. Some great motorcycle roads all around it though.
Would love to know statistically speaking, their rates of cancer vs other places.
Same I would love to know that stat!
0:40 the ironic part is that you arent even in the south.. WV was specifically not a part of the confederate army.
Some people in southern West Virginia did fight for the Confederacy while the people in northern West Virginia fought for the Union.
😂😂
being part of the Confederacy is not the only thing that denotes being a "southern" state. culturally, west Virginia has a stupid amounts in common w/ turns south, and despite their history....go count how many rebel flags you see flying there 😅
If you don't like it then don't live there. Simple as that.
BTW WV was part of Virginia but they fought for the North and became its own state
Thank you for some American History.
@@miguelclarke4620 some people think everyone in WV is racist but it’s really not like that all…funny how people don’t know that 1 of the 2 main KKK groups are in SoCal where everyone thinks no “real” racism happens
No. Half of the state fought for the south
@@jamesstone9213 google it brother lol
its sad they still get terrible geo engineering no escaping NATO 😂💀
I noticed the skies as well.
Yeah the WiFi starts going out on the side going up Droop Mountain in Greenbrier County. When my family lived in Cass, WV The Astronomy was not a problem, just a gateway to the Stars. ✨💥💛💫💛💥✨ And as always a gateway "To Almost Heaven West Virginia". Cass and Green Bank was always the better half of Pocahontas County, WV. My BLOOD is in the land. Some of my best memories growing up lays down a little road called Deer Creek. 💖💕💖 Even though our home was sold long ago. Sadly Economics and drugs are everywhere. Everyone, no matter where they live, is having an extremely hard time. I have never seen America as a whole, in the shape it's in now. Hold on to Jesus. Keep Walking In Faith, Not By Sight. He cannot and will not lead you wrong. God Bless America, God Bless West Virginia.✨🕊🙏🕊✨
I have to disagree with the uppity woman food stamp recipient who thinks people on Snap shouldn't be able to buy cakes, cookies, etc. This is America, where we're suppose to have the freedom to choose, including what food we buy at the grocery store.
As a food stamp recipient, I agree a person should be able to buy flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder, butter, vanilla, milk, cocoa powder, coconut, apples, cherries, pecans and corn syrup to make their own pastries and cookies from scratch! You are not entitled to pre-packaged, factory processed junk food and soda pop.
There's no way she's eating fruits and veggies tbh so idk why she felt the need to say that.
@@CarlyBrinson 1. I wasn't speaking of myself, Karen. I was speaking for all Snap recipients. 2. If the snack food industries relied on me for their income, they'd go broke. 3. I do almost all my own cooking and eat healthy meals, including ALL the food groups: Meat, Dairy, Fruit, Vegetables and Grains.
@@Richard-me2pq You should have to grow your own ingredients, all that stuff comes pre-packaged from a factory!
When you’re a welfare pimp getting free food, you’re SO deserving to eat whatever the tax payer buys you.
Um, so are you expecting us to believe that there are no cell phone towers anywhere near there? They have only hard-wired landlines for communication? No internet/fiber optic, etc? Just curious.
We have wifi but there are no cell towers near Green Bank. You have to drive about an hour away from Green Bank in any direction to get cell service.
@@dalekinnison4846 you can use the wifi for VOIP calls. Take care out there.
There is a company that was supposed to be running fiber optics but I don’t think it ever finished.
There's internet access in a lot of areas, but no wireless routers. There's fiber to most of the areas but not all. It's hard to give detaisl without giving a course on how internet systems work.
Don’t say Appalachian like that 😂
Found yall on tiktok. Immediately subscribed! 🫶🏼
We appreciate you 🙌🏼🙌🏼
There were 221 in my school and 16 in my graduating class. WV is absolutely beautiful and even more so if you like whitewater.
Green Bank is located in the northern part of Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The Snowshoe Ski Resort is not far from there.
you should say Appalachian more
I live around the area I've always been up around green bank at like cheat mountain and snowshoe mountain but I've never been to green bank itself I will try to go there now
Can't tell you the peace my body knows when the power goes down, since the 70s but more now, lucky them! 😮
Cool storytelling and sweet shots - especially the one at the end with you two conversing on the farm. Really provided a sense of tranquility with the long, still shot; which reflected the overall piece. Would love to hear more historical depth/backstory in between interviews (what is the overarching history of the land, how was the telescope constructed, what are the different types of telescopes and why is this one important) and more personal things like what fascinated you to do the story. I could've listened to the interviews for another 10-20min, which lent to the feeling of being more meaningful vs interesting. Would love to hear from someone with electromagnetic sensitivity about their experience after moving there. The ending felt a bit abrupt and left open, but I guess it is "to be continued." I've watched 10's of youtube videos today and hundreds this week, but this one stood out. KEEP GOING! About to watch the Amish one!
I live really close to greenbank. About an hour away it is an amazing place to visit.
Interesting perspectives, thanks for sharing this
Thanks for watching!
Rooting for the people of green bank!
🙌🏼
damn Sal Goodmans brother should have just moved there lol
Chuck McGill land
Locals don’t want anyone to move in and “change things”, but can’t realize that the community is dying due to no fresh blood.
No, it's dying because of the coal mines shutting down.
Would be heaven for retirees!
The only time you hear total silent when the electricity goes out
So what were the ppl in the background at the baseball field doin on their phones if they don’t have wifi
Watching porn they downloaded in the Days Inn parking lot back in Lewisburg
I spent my honeymoon there in ,1977
Never mind
Monster! Milk then cereal?
I swear we are totally normal... definitely not aliens.
AAA quality stuff. props
Nice Gents, One of my favorite areas for street rides. Keep up the good work.

Part of the weather control network systems aray
wrong 😂
@@red_jeep4.0prove it isn't.
@@red_jeep4.0 do a little research - you will be surprised ;)
It’s a radio satellite, how would it control the weather? If you said it monitors it, you’d be wrong but at least not a nut job.
@@graceisamazing5493 can’t prove it but just telling you i’ve operated that telescope
Feels like Current TV. Came over from Tik Tok. Solid content guys. Keep it up.

I'm surprise it took that long.
Sounds like a sect.
