He clearly goes beyond jazz. He even goes behind to then go further forward.

@@Quinceps Agree! While I love jazz to bits, and Brad has amply showed his jazz credentials on other releases, this album tips heavily into the most sumptuous avant garde "chamber prog" (I could name North Sea Radio Orchestra, or Ghost Rhythms, or Lars Horntveth who operate in similar territory, but it is *not* a crowded field), and ... *I am so ready for it*
In the end the exact genre is less important than the exact aesthetic response, which is mighty strong round here.

This music is a kind of healing for me. Whenever there are so much negative things in the news, violence, child abuse and murders are reported, which makes me feel sad & blue... Then I listen to this music and life is more beautiful again... 🌻🙏🏼🙃

this is a wonder, a truly inspired work of art. the noise and clamor of this world riddled with madness and beauty.the horror of our spiral and the grace of hope thru this spiritual endeavor holding one in it`s grip with an embrace and sullen fortitude inviting one to be ok with their own thoughts for a moment, this moment, thank you mister Mehldau.

Brad addresses what is happening now -- it's so great when art encapsulates a moment and makes it more understandable. I've been looking for music that actually spoke to and reacted to what we need now -- this does that in spades.

Brad Mehldau’s voice-heavy new album, Finding Gabriel, is entirely wordless until “The Prophet Is A Fool,” the sixth of nine tracks. “Build that wall,” a riled-up crowd yells at a foreboding rally, as Mehldau speaks with a young boy-terse and jarring dialogue. “Who’s he?” the boy asks, clearly referring to Trump. “He’s just their voice,” Mehldau replies. “He speaks for them. They’re just scared. They think he makes them stronger.”

When I hear Melhdau's piano work, one thought keeps going through my head: What floor does the elevator stop on next? Because to me this just elevator music.
What Pat Metheny sees in Brad's playing, I'll never understand. Lyle Mays was a musical GOD and Mehldau is....anything but.

I almost stopped listening to this album because of this awful repetitive annoying kick on "The Garden". What the fuck happen in this track? They hired David Guetta to make it?
I'm glad I decided some other random track and realized the album is great.
I suggest you all to skip "The Garden". The piano is good, but the repetitive kick literally ruined it.
