  • In this episode, we're going to take a classic streamer pattern, the Clouser deep minnow, and downsize it for panfish and bass. I'll talk about variations in tying materials that make the micro version easier to tie and more lively in the water (if you'd like to see me do a tying tutorial, let me know in the comments). we'll also talk about the role the microclouser can play in filling that gap in your box between bugs and baitfish when fishing for big gills and crappie that have made the switch from bugs to crustaceans and small baitfish. Then we'll get out on the housing development pond and catch some fish.
    As always, if you find this video informative and entertaining, give it a like and be sure to subscribe to Tim On The Fly so you don't miss any new videos as they come out.
    Tight Lines!

    Tim, Howdy; Enjoyin' the Bluegill action. Nothin' beats catchin'em . Excellent way to get your casting
    arm back in shape after a lay off of a few years. First fish I ever caught was a 'gill. Tons of fun memories.

    Another fun video Tim. You seem to be able to make things happen no matter the conditions. Particularly like the micro-Clouser pattern you are using. Nothing like bluegill on a fly rod! Thanks for the unedited live entertainment....

      Haven't caught brookies on them yet, but I know brown trout like them. Haven't really had any species turn them down yet.

    What type of line? I assume floating line. What weight line and what weight fly rod? What type leader and what weight tippet?

    • @timonthefly3167
      @timonthefly3167  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      4wt rod and weight forward floating line, 9ft leader tapered to a 3x tippet.

      @@timonthefly3167 Thanks Tim for getting back tp me so soon! What 4 weight fly line do you use? (Last question, I promise).

      I believe that was a Cabela's (now White River) Prestige Plus. I also use a lot of Scientific Anglers Mastery Series MPX lines, but I'm pretty sure that was the Cabela's PP and that is what I'm currently using on that reel. The reel is an older Lamson.

    Just the right size for eating. You don't want to keep and bluegills that have spawn in them. Great video.

    What size hook do you use?

    • @timonthefly3167
      @timonthefly3167  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically 10-12, but I've gone as small as 16. I think the one in this video is a 10.
