Crazy to think we did not have a video on the scissor sweep in the gi yet! So here you go; the scissor sweep, some variations and the reverse scissor sweep! All in the gi and mixed into a nice system. I hope you enjoy these.
I wathed few of your videos and have to say big thank you! I like how they are short and informative. You have very good pedagogic skills! Keep sharing!
Not exactly. So yes, they are very similar but a Sumi Gaeshi (besides being usually used as a throw from standing) most of the times placed the foot on the inside of the leg (like a butterfly hook). Here it is not the case. Though you can discuss them being very similar and it might be a form of sumi gaeshi this is in fact called a reversed scissor sweep. But names more often than not are very confusing and open for debate, especially in a hybrid and modern sport like BJJ.
@@ClwnJuNkY I am a black belt and I call it reverse scissor sweep 😅 now I believe you and it might be what you call it; in the end it doesn’t matter. There are many things in jiujitsu that have tons of namens for one thing (take 411/cross ashi/inside sankaku/honey hole/saddle) all for one thing. As long as my students know what I mean when I’m yelling it on the sidelines I’m happy. Finally here’s something fun: go and search for uchiro kani basami on TH-cam and then search for reverse scissor sweep and tell me what you find and where you find more similarities 😉 it’s how most people in bjj call it. Whether you like it or not.
