Awesome review! Just picked this bike up waiting for it to be shipped as I type this! I’m just getting into mountain biking, I use to race bmx…should be fun lol
@@teaniner, I am just curious about what problems you have noticed using fenders, I have no experience or opinions about using them, I am just trying to learn about the sport.
What do you recommend for size? My local store has this bike in a small and medium, no large. I’m 5’11. Inseam 32. Would the medium be too small? I saw the sizes on Kona website with heights. I wish they had a large to compare. I’m like right in the middle!
Tough for me to say without seeing you on the bike. Medium maybe if you are going for a more free ride bike. Have the shop do a fit for you. Inseam is not always the thing I look at. Torso is important.
100mm is what it comes with. Could you go longer? Yes but it’s gonna change the handling. I personally do not recommend going longer on this bike. I am sure people are doing it. I’d assume if going longer? It’s gonna chopper it out. The fork will flop faster, giving a different handling characteristics.
@@MiguelCarlosMojares I personally do not recommend changing the length of travel. Generally every 25.4mm of travel change will change it by 1deg give or take in headtube angle, that’s up to you. If you want more travel on a bike, purchase a bike that gives you the length of travel you want.
I got a Kona lava dome yesterday from a place in go outdoors in Stockton and it didnt come with a bell and it has different lockout forks how come I did not get a bell do you know why and do you know which size of kickstand fits the bike
I bought the Kona Lava Dome 2 months ago as my first mountain bike. I really love it. I am planning on using it this Fall for a 50k.
Nice review man and yes, the bike is a keeper.
I’m almost 100% convinced on getting this bike. I just have to move into my house first haha
That’s a good choice first! 🤘
Definitely gonna get this, thank you!

I think you are gonna love it!
Which color is it?
@@skorric_ I got the grape color
Perfect choice! Do you dig it!
Waiting on mine as well
Just bought this bike and waiting on it to be delivered
Would you suggest this for a newer biker? There's one at a local shop within my budget. Its this or a Jamis Durango A2 or Trail X a2
It’s a great bike for a beginner.
It looks decent on hills my old 29er on flat would rip. Is it fairly fast?
What are your concerns with using fenders off road?
Depending on the fender set, but rock it if you want to.

@@toddbrackett4277 I don't ride with fenders on a mountain bike that I ride trails. I rarely ride trails when they are wet, unless caught in the rain.
This is actually spec'd as a tapered head, 1 1/8" to 1 1/2".
Yes the frame 1 1/8 to 1 1/2, but the fork is a straight 1 1/8”. Thanks for clearing that up.

I’d say large. I’m 5-10 and just bought this bike in large after trying the medium - which just felt too cramped.
Hello from Ukraine
cuanto pesa la bicicleta??
Max fork travel recommended?

Is the frame made in Taiwan or is it made in China?
Offhand I have no idea, contact a kona dealer and they should be able to answer you.
