Hey guys! If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe for more uploads on urban day-to-day cycling!
I've used my Brompton folding bike to do grocery shopping for a couple of years now. People are always curious to know more about it. If you ask me, it's SUPER DUPER AWESOME!
#brompton #bromptonfoldingbicycle #foldingbicycle #foldingbike
I’ve been using my Brompton for years as a shopping cart, but I much prefer to leave the handlebars in the upright position and PUSH the cart rather than pull. Is more like a store cart and easier to load and control.
Shopping cart mode is one of the most BRILLIANT things about dear Brompton and makes it so much more than a mere bicycle.
I've seen that most people actually do it the way you mentioned, but I've never tried it. Will test it out next time and let you know!
Everyday Cycling hope you like it that way too!
Willie James Outlaw kindred souls!
Everyday Cycling The bike I am ordering will come just with two wheels. Are the eazywheel worth upgrading to and will the bike be ok to move on just two wheels? I see in your video the bike you have have 4 wheels
Exactly! Just wrote the same!
I have had my Brommie nearly four years. Can't live without it. I have taken it in grocery shops, ironmongers, pharmacys, liquire shops, trains, buses, subways and no one has ever so far stopped me. If I can't enter a place with my Brommie, I will not go there at all.
Way to go! Gotta go in without asking. Ahaha very rarely I've been approached by someone.
Yes, in many cases people around are a bit curious and asking: what is that?!!
@Alien On a BikeSo after your note I believe we both are in Finland. Try shopping with Brommie, you can fold it as a trolley which you can push or pull in shops. I prefer pushing it ahead me. All notice I have got in shops is like "What's that?" .
What rack and wheels are you using? Are they stock Brompton or after market. I want one that is stable and rolls as nice as yours. What brand is it? And where did you get it?
@@hatchereight I have a H&H titanium rack, the full size one. There is also like a half size rack. In my opinion my rack looks neater and smaller than the stock rack. By the way H&H has also a front titanium rack which I also have.
Very helpful video! I just ordered the A line and can’t wait to try it out!
so ive been selling Bromptons for a while from the shop i work at and today took the plunge and bought an M6L that i pick up tomorrow. cant wait!
Let me know what you think of it!
@@EverydayCycling Which Brompton bag is featured in this video?
I'm dying to have my own Brompton! Thank you for this nice video. Keep them coming!
You're gonna love it! Thanks for watching it, more videos on the way!
Everyday Cycling I’m still trying to find one here in Provincetown or the Boston, MA, USA area...will keep trying. Love your videos! Every time I watch one, I’m a happier person and have more hope for the future of humanity. Thanks!!!
I didn’t know the Brompton bikes were designed with such ingenuity.
👍👍
Super helpful videos - I’ve struggled to work out how to shop taking my new Brompton with me - using it as a shopping cart with my Borough bag attached is amazing. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Last shot of this video is a beauty!
Thanks for watching all the way to the end! ahah
I am so impressed how you fold and unfold the bike with your bag! I have to unmount the bag when I do folding / unfolding.
I just like your videos and how you present and explain them, they are very fresh, I congratulate you, until the next video 😊
Thank you for the feedback! Til the next one!
Set up in my garage. Sure comes in handy. Works great
Second day with my B, it is awesome feeling. Slow, fast, whichever way I go is just such a cool ride. Going out now. Enjoy the ride!
This is a fantastic idea
Thanks for the video. You inspired me to leave my car at home yesterday and take my Brompton. I used the bike with handlesbars up and bag attached as my trolley.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
As I mentioned in former reply I push my Brommie with butterfly handle bar and put the grocery shops plastic bag hanging on the handle bar.
As much as I like the idea of the front carry block handling my groceries; I’d rather use either a small eco bag or, for larger loads, I use a Vincita Big Nash bag attached to my rear rack. I don’t trust the declared 10kg capacity up front. Great video, by the way.
I just got myself a Dahon 20” wheels, and its my first folding bike. And now I ve seen your videos, I definetely want to own a brompton next:) great videos thanx man!
What were the factors that led you to your decision to go Dahon?
@@RobertLinthicum brampton is incredibly expensive in my country. Its not really affordable. So I went with dahon which made sense considering it would have been my first experience but that bike is so heavy that and I kind of regret buying it.
That carrier block design by Brompton is genius!! I also use the S-bag but it's the older model, so the opening of the bag is a bit limited because it doesn't have that cord. I see that things have changed a bit since I got mine. Maybe it's time for an upgrade
When I’ve used my M6L (I added a Nitto BM-4R rack) for shopping, I use a T-Bag. I also keep the handlebar up to aid in steering the M6L while the rest of the bike is folded
I love your video man!! Very enjoyable.. thumbs up
I use the monkii cage for my water bottle. it's worked well - but the bottle has fallen off a few times because I ride a lot of off-road trails on my Brompton.
Yeah, I've been using my handlebar pouch to put a water bottle when I need and it's been holding pretty well!
hi Victor, i really like your video, it is inspiring me to build my lifestyle with brompton bike.
Great to hear! It's definitely worth it. Simple living with the Brompton.
Nicely done and I was relieved to see the good mask use. Wondering how the larger Brompton Electric bag might handle that task.? I don't think it is recommended for remaining on while folded but the size and format look similar. I like the roll ability shown and see upgrades on my horizon. Thanks.
Hello Dale. Have you any updates on that matter?
@ I have stuck with the smaller bag waiting to see more 3rd party options. Meanwhile, a rolled up shopping bag give me extra capacity when needed unexpectedly. For bigger tasks, I have a Travoy trailer that works well and can switch easily to other bikes. I do need to add a rack and better wheels for rolling when transit travel returns for me.
actually I saw a brompton clip about using the bike as a shopping cart. apparently u can just fold the bike without folding the handle bar. And it will be a pushing cart. Oh u do have to buy the rear thing with the little wheels.
Hello, brilliantly filmed “every day ‘ shopping experience demonstrating the convenience of the Brompton . I like how you were able to make the Star of the show the Brompton . But that took your skill
Cheers Douglas
Please how do you get the small wheels to pull out ?
Hey Douglas, good to see you here! The Brompton is an amazing piece of engineering, as you well know. It will always be the star of the show in this channel! I've been absolutely in love with it for the past two years since I got mine.
Answering your question, one of the few upgrades I did to mine was the wheel extender. It makes the bike MUCH more stable when I load the front bag. For me, it's a must have. You can find it online at SJS, just look for MiniMODs X-Roller BM EZ Wheel Extender. Its quite pricy but it's the best investment I've made to this bike so far and it's holding strong after two years of use.
Edit: I just realized they are out of stock at the moment, but that is the exact model I have on my bike.
Hey man, loving all your vids 🙏😄
That was great. Thank you!
Hi Victor, whether in Portuguese or English, your videos are very good. Congrats.
Bom te ver por aqui também!!
You really motivated me to go for a Brompton and esp an R series.
wow ! that's genius ! Brompton design seems to me as a design for the ages ! I wonder if it has ever been recognised by the Design Frats. Thanks for showing this.
I travel abroad quit a bit and travel for leisure within my country. Every time I visit a place, I tend to get a bike rental and ride across the city, villages and get a ground on feel, its my thing of travelling. However, depending on the culture and attitude towards cycling in those areas - My bike, its condition and riding vary and making me to miss the familiarity of my bike sitting at home,
I wonder if I get the Brompton and make it my go to bike, being a foldable - will I be able to travel with it by air; as just a check in luggage ? Without the entire process of registering it as a parcel and receiving at a later time at the destination ? I don't mind paying the fee but wouldn't want to go through the hassle of shipping. Please educate us on that, if you've had any experience on this.
keep up the great work !
I've seen some people check it in as a check-in luggage, but perhaps he can make a video about it.
This is a great entry to mid level rider
Enjoyed that one Victor, thank you! Just noticed we may have the same, or very similar, rear view mirror. Except I have mine on the right bar end, as we ride on the wrong side and I have it above the bar, not below as you do... 🤷🏼♂️
I have actually used my Brompton once for shopping, not a good experience as the place was far too busy and full of trolleys ‘n families, yuk!
Anyway, great topic, love the 360deg shots as well, nicely done all round, cheers, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍
Thank you a lot Rog! That's a Mirrycle bar end mirror. I like it very much, what about you? On the left side the only way I can mount it is under the handlebar, otherwise it hits the ground when folded =/.
I'm English living in England and I just tried to buy a Brompton (06:08:2020). They recently had a 48 week order book at which point they stopped taking orders and second hand Bromptons are more expensive than new ones.
Things need to go back to normal soon
That bike and bag combo is so handy! Great that you can take the whole thing into the store too. Is the bike easy to ride? I’ve not ridden a bike since I was a kid.
Really cool video thanks, what front bag is that please?
Thanks for all your videos! I'd like to see a grocery shopping video with the brompton without the rack. Would you still recommend Eazy wheels? I live about 5 blocks from the grocery store and I've walked there many times and back. After the last two years, I've gotten quite lazy about it especially since I started biking.
Great.
Thanks Jude!
Great video! Does the S bag close completely? Wouldn't want my items to get wet..
Do you have a link or a video about the bag?
Great video! What model of Brompton do you have?
Thanks!
Jennie
where is the video that you featured the Gorack? Can share the link here?
THank you
Hi! Nice video! Keep it up! :)
Thank you!! Will do!
you've really sold me on this bike! any chance you can specify what model you've go here?
This is an H6R. On my long-term review video I go into much more detail on this bike!
Impressive editing
I agree! Love how he got a wide shot of the bike from inside the fridge!
And I'd like to know how things go, shopping with the Brompton E-Bike.
Hi Carolle! Unfortunately, I've never used the electric Brompton, but I risk saying it's a similar setup. The main difference between the electric and the conventional is that the battery takes the place of the front bag. They have one version of the battery that sits inside of a larger bag, so you could use the extra space to fit some groceries, but that's not ideal. One option is using a bike trailer, such as the Burley Travoy, that I use when buying more groceries. I lock the trailer outside, take the Brompton inside of a shopping cart and at the end fit everything in the trailer.
@@EverydayCycling Thankyou for replying, "Everyday". I still have to decide to buy the Brompton - want to do some serious ( but gentle ) , long distance touring including the option of easily using Public Transport Systems, starting off in Europe. Of course, this pandemic thing has thrown a spanner in the spokes, so to speak. Probably have to give this year a miss. More time to prepare. Good luck to your new channel, all the way from Atlanta. The cycle-ways look good there but I couldn't really see, you speedster!😊
Haha I always take a few minutes a day to respond to the comments. Feels nice, also to know who's watching and what they would be interested in. This pandemic really did compromise some of my plans as well... If you're considering the e-Brompton for your touring plans, just keep in mind that it cannot be transported as luggage in airplanes because of the battery, but aside from that, it should be a wonderful experience!
Watch my bike to work video and you'll see pretty images of the bike ways!
@@EverydayCycling I am. The campus is nice and green! A friend of mine is from Atlanta but has been in Europe a long time now. We talk about those southern comfort foods yo all have down there and practice the accent.
I’d need double the volume. The “T” bag would be perfect. But, of course, they stopped making it. I notice the “S” also has a hard handle which let’s you pull the bike. Also true of “T” bag. Bad on Brompton for discontinuing “T” (and also replacing it with something more expensive).
Wait, I really hope you see this! Can you sit on the seat while it's folded? Like if the check out is crowded and you have to wait in line?
Keep it coming Victor! Warm greetings from Jakarta.
Hey Brizki, thanks for the warm welcome! Yours is the first comment of the channel! Stay safe!
Hi, victor. What is the accessories you use on the frame. Like black leather hand bar something. Do you have the name of the brand. Thank you very much. Love you videos!

Hola Franz! I can understand everything you said but can't write a word in Spanish. Thank you for the compliments on the videos! That handlebar bag is very useful to hold a water bottle, my phone and wallet, or even my camera! Gracias por suscribirse, me alegra que me hayas encontrado aquí.
May I ask if the front bag would ever bump off on bumpy road? Also would fragile groceries such egg be broken from road bumps?
Where I ride the eggs would be broken by the shaking. I put fragile items in a backpack. The bag will not detach on bumpy roads.
nice video in my area in USA when we go shopping we earther get a supplied shopping cart or shopping basket if you use anything else it could get searched especially if you cant see all items in it why does Brompton not make a handlebar support for the shopping baskets in the USA why do i have to think about everything
I tried to shop with my Brompton at Whole Foods and they blocked me from entering. The smaller stores were all fine with it though. He's at Wal Mart in this video, maybe they are more friendly than Whole Foods?
Very nice video. Could you tell us where did you get that main tube cover (black)?
wow. Four wheels at the bottom, do they come with the original package?
Love that bike
Me too!
Cool stuff bro
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Hi love your video which brompton bike do you have and basket
it reminds me last year I went to kroger (yes, the one next to walmart) with my brompton to buy some foods... the path you took was not the nicest path as far as I remember..:)
I just take Howell Mill all the way there. Let me know if there's a better route!
@@EverydayCycling I used to live on Marietta St. I took the same route as you did :)
How are arriving at Kroger but checking out of wal-mart?
haha I went to Kroger first to buy their roasted chicken and some oats, then went to Walmart. C'moooon only someone from Atlanta could notice that. haha Notice how I never mentioned putting stuff into the Brompton bag. Was already filled with Kroger groceries!
awesome video ...informative & brief 👍...what is the bag name btw?
Thank you, Alexander! This bag is a Brompton S-Bag.
This is cool!:) do you know if this capacity of keeping the bag on with the bike folded is only possible on Brompton, or if its possible in other brands, like Dahon? Thank you!
Hi Ana, to the best of my knowledge, only the Brompton is capable of doing that. Thanks!
I don't believe in an heavenly afterlife but if I'm wrong, I imagine it is filled we people who shop by Brompton.
I hope you're wrong 😂
hello very interesting video, I congratulate you I liked how you explained it, I will see more reports, I already subscribed, greetings 😊👍☘️
Oh, thanks for being here! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!!
What is the bag name? And where do u get the black pocket that mount on ur stem / handle bar? Thank you
Hello there. Could a person just roll their bike into the grocery store and shop?
Hi, would like to ask, are there any possible way to push the bike in the position shown in 4:16? or it is not recommended to? xD
Great video thanks for sharing! Do you have the “easy wheels” on your Brompton? I think I need to upgrade mine!
Thanks for watching! Yep, I have the EZ wheels on my Brompton. The bike rolls really well on them!
@@EverydayCycling I read somewhere that the new standard rollers are much better than the old conical ones and an upgrade to the Eazy wheels might be superfluous nowadays. Any thoughts or experience on that? Thanks!
Mikey Moose Do you know if the Eazy or newer standard wheels are lighter weight? Even if there’s only the slightest difference, it would be good to know since I have a touchy back at times.... every ounce subtracted counts for me.
Nice one, thinking about getting the wheels extender - seems to do its job well... does it stay in place well when riding (even on less smooth surfaces)?
Hi Hans! The extension kind of snaps into place on both the extended and retracted positions. Bumpy terrain has never been a problem for me, even though I've never ridden on gravel or anything off-road. Still, I believe it would not extend without you giving the initial push with your hand.
Everyday Cycling Thanks - that may just be the push I needed :-)
Because u take the challenge to bring on mart i subscribe to your channel, please do more like this. Where else can u bring? Mc donald perhaps?
Thanks for your support, and welcome to the channel! I bring it anywhere, really. Bars, friends' houses, cafeterias, shopping malls, office, public transportation, stores... Places I wouldn't bring it in are museums and hospitals, where they'd probably kick me out. Haha
@@EverydayCycling i would love to see please. Regards from Malaysia. Here brompton is famous too but now i can see some people using the brompton knockoff too like element pikes that come in varient speed especially 8 speed and the other one is 3sixty folding bike. Both of this having the same folding mechanism like brompton but the price only 1/4 compare to brompton
If they're useful and safe as a Brompton, it's pretty awesome! Small bikes like these can be quite handy! Have you considered any of those for yourself? I'll look them up.
Can I ask what kind of handlebar mirror you have?
Can someone please tell me what bag type he is using and whether or not the 'T' bag would fully fold down like that (with the handlebars and all)? I'm trying to decide what to buy for an attachment, I need something that will fit my work items and a small shop and that I can remove and carry as a regular bag with straps. Thank you
Hey what is the thing called that covers the middle part of the bike ? I sure its so the bike wont get scratch up. Plz let me know 🙏
may i know what bag you using..thanks
Hi, nice video. What model is the helmet you are wearing?
Hey Andrew, thank you! It's a Giro Crossley MIPS. Not the best ventilation but very comfortable. I'd buy it again!
Hi! I noticed that you are having the Brompton Raw Lacquer. Can I check how long did you have your for and is it true that it will rust more easily than other colored Brompton?
I've had it for two years. I don't know if it rusts more easily, but mine hasn't rusted at all so far.
hot to deal with sweaty pants after riding bikes in general, it's really frustrating especially if i am getting into a mall or supermarket ?
I really don't care anymore about being sweaty in those situations (I used to). I like using dark colored shorts, so they don't show the sweat marks that easily.
@@EverydayCycling
what type of material for the shirts and shorts do you suggest to prevent sweat marks ? is it polystyrene ?
and if you suggest a specific brand that would be amazing .
thanks
Cara, eu levei um tempo pra entender que você tem dois canais: um em português e outro em inglês. Parabéns pelo conteúdo. Aliás, qual é o modelo dessa Kona azul?
Hi ! The helmet you use here is of a specific brand for folding bikes ?, if it is so, could you please inform me about the name of that brand ?
- I want to get an appropiate black helmet to use with my folding bike, but I don't know which one to buy.
It's not specific for folding bikes, but I like it a lot. It's a Giro Crossley Mips.
Thanks a lot ! ;)
Hello, I can't find this S-Bag on internet, where did you buy it ? thank you !
I think it may be out of date. Here is a link to the Brompton manufacturers site in England. Although Brompton bags might seem expensive they have a special frame in them which connects to a special block on the handlebar part of the frame. www.brompton.com/shop/bags Your local Brompton agent should be able to supply you with the bag you want. I have a Borough Waterproof Bag Large (Mine came with a rain cover as standard), It is massive @ 40 liters (almost 6 gallons). That's a mid sized back pack.
@@psocretes8183 Thank you !
I've been riding this bike for about a month th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
Hi, thanks for the great video! You inspired me to buy my Brompton, and it's the best bike I've ever owned. I wanted to let you know that Whole Foods has a nation wide policy banning customer shopping carts. I recently tried to bring in my Brompton and the security guard blocked me from entering. Here is their response:
"Thank you for contacting Whole Foods Market. After receiving your email, we reached out to Store Leadership at the Brooklyn location. I can confirm that it is store policy that folding bikes and scooters are not allowed in the store. However, I am not certain whether this applies to all locations in New York City. Additionally, it is company-wide policy that customers are only allowed to shop into one of our carts or baskets and cannot utilize their own bags or baskets for this purpose."
My tip is.... Don't fold the handle bar! Use it as a cart and push it in front of you! I've done so for years now ;)
Ps.. Everyday Cycling.. I'm really enjoying your work! Well done! Keep it up! Cheers!
Excuse sir, what is the name of the bag?
Does the bike roll when folded?
Men you are awesome
Cara, procurei até falar chega seus vídeos em português. Você os excluiu?
What kind of shorts were you wearing here? Looks sleak and practical 😳

What gimbal and camera you use for recording?
I don't use a gimbal. My main camera for vlogging is a Canon G7x, which has a pretty darn amazing image stabilization.
Everyday Cycling But you do use some handler with camera mounted on it, right?
Which type of bag.
?
Has anyone tried this with a Brompton electric? I hesitate to spend the money for a rack and/or wheel extender, just to find out that the bike cannot stand upright.
I've been using the Brompton Electric with rack and extender for almost a year now. It works fine. The main problem is the lack of bag options. The city bag isn't really suitable for grocery shopping.
@@EverydayCycling Thank you for the fast reply! I just found out that it's absolutely forbidden to use your own bags for shopping because it's not evident if the product has already been paid for. Germany sucks (sometimes...).
