Let me put it this way as a Southern Baptist and as a messenger who will be going to the annual meeting in New Orleans within the next few days, “closely identified” simply means that you don’t have to adopt the BF&M2000 as your church’s official confession of faith, but it does/should mean that your church’s faith and practice does not contradict the statement of faith.
