Amazing results ! I'm new to CNC, just got one of those little 3018 machines so reading and watching evreything i can to learn some stuff before jumping in, thanks man, liked and subbed.
@House Of Braxton Woodworking been knocking out Christmas photo carves. I started going business to business with a couple nice carves, just showing them what I can offer. And leaving them with a couple flyers to have them post up for me. Been getting good responses, no pressure since I'm not really selling anything at the moment. I've been pretty fortunate these past few months with photo carves.
Hi Adam! I was thinking about doing that as well, but was unsure if many people would want to watch it as I am not sure how many people are using Vetric software. As far as my vetric settings (until I can get a video of that up): Bit: 60* DoC: .06 Angle: 22.5* (I do change the angle on some pictures if they seem to look better at different angles) Line Spacing: 100-120% depending on the photo, I just move in there and render the image to see what looks best. Any other settings you are curious of?
Hi! I’ve been trying to get a good looking photo carve to work forever, and it looks like you’ve gotten the formula. I use Vectric also, and would LOVE to know … what bit are you using? What material are you carving? What is your start depth? Max carve depth? Step over retract? Using raster or hatch? Line spacing? Line angle? Any other tips as to the finishes? Thanks! Gary
Hey Gary! Sorry things are a little crazy around here getting ready for Christmas! Bit: 60* V Bit (brand irrelevant, I have used about 6 different brands) Material: I only use MDF (which is whats in the video) and Hard Maple for doing these carves. You need clean wood with very little grain lines. Grain lines can effect how the image looks overall and might mess it up Start Depth: 0.0 DOC: .06 Retract: .12 (could be dependent on your setup so test this one) Raster or Hatch: Raster Line Spacing: I normally adjust line spacing from 100-120% depending on the picture to see what looks best. This photo was 119%, but I have done plenty on 100% and anywhere in between. It really is just picture by picture and what you think looks best. Finishes: I have only ever used Shellac to finish. It works great for this and dries fast. I am sure other stuff works, but I have never been unhappy with shellac enough to want to change.
@@garyn234 just to follow up on this … I just released a couple other videos going in depth into the software setup side if you haven’t seen those yet…
Hello sir. I want your advice.. am planning to start a business.. do you advice to use cnc router for engraving on acrylic .. example ( engraving photos.. logos.. ets) And thnx again
Haha!! True true I just don’t feel like changing bits. Although most the time I have more than 1 going at the same time so normally the machine is still working on something else.

Dang that’s a great idea though!
Is MDF good for photo vcarve ? And anything else that I can use than shellac?
Would you be up to do a video on your setup like what's the best setting for doing pictures?

Hi Mohammad! Sorry! I have never tried to engrave on acrylic yet, I have only done wood.
how much does this cnc machine cost...what is the year of production...and what is the maximum dimension of image processing??
When I got it, it was about $12k … it can handle 5’x5’
Show how to you change images into Best Halftone Effect .
Came out better than my attempts. Will try your spacing. Btw… if only you had an easier way to cut that t slot on the back…. 😊
