Hello, I am from Vietnam, I saw videos of you running up to buildings after using place maker. The buildings in Sketup are the same size with real size in real life.
THIS IS REALLY AMAZING PLUGIN SOOOOO MUCH HELPFUL FOR URBAN PROJECTS AND I THINK FOR 3D VISUALIZERS ALSO ...JUSTIN GEIS THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR AWSOME TUTORIALS AND AMAZING PLUGINS INTRODUCTIONS LOVE IT BRO KEEP IT UP ITS AMAZING .....WILL BE ALWAYS WAITING FOR MORE YOU ARE DOING VERY WELL BRO THANKYOU SO MUCH
Thanks for the tutorial really great you have produced such a detailed video.. I just wonder why I cant find any information on topography of the context. There are very few cities built on flat ground, especially here in the UK. My site is within a ravine but it is built upon.
This is a pretty cool plugin! Just out of curiosity, can you render the buildings like the ones in Open Street Map or do you have to do your own rendering from scratch in this model?
Everything seems wonderful, but I did not undestand one thing: on what does the result quality depend? I mean, does it depend on the resolution quality of the image or on the OpenStreetMap's DATA? So... can I make a precise model like the one of San Francisco that comes with the TRIAL with a less known city as well?
Depends on OSM's data - they actually released a new version with access to even more data with another source - th-cam.com/video/y0x-1mR68qk/w-d-xo.html
Hi Justin :) I have one problem with making this 3D...When I click Import Roads (Buildings...) I get a message from SketchUp: "Immature authentication. Please ensure your computer clock is set to synchronize automatically". What I should do to make this model? Is there a problem with my computer or Placemaker? Thank you :)
Hello dear. I have a question. I want to use place maker for Melbourne. Is it possible to use it for there or it is just about cities in US? I want to be sure before buying this plugin. Thanks.
My goal is to create a visual model of the layout of a model railroad museum where 5 towns will be modeled. I would try to get all current buildings in a sketch. The remove buildings selectively to show just the buildings I expect to model. This sketch would be used for marketing and publicity materials as well as to guide modelers. Would this be a good application? Do you know of anyone who did this?
hi JUSTIN GEIS "Merging and dropping options aren't available in trial mode." What's the point of the trial mode if I can't try that extension before having to purchase it? .......its very nice and helpful plugin
Hi there - I don't know what the thought process behind that function of the trial was - I assume it was to keep people from just downloading full cities while they were still on the trial, but in any case, thanks for taking the time to watch!
Hi there! I talk about that in this video - th-cam.com/video/JwNN_Iixs2E/w-d-xo.html - You have to adjust the settings a bit, but Placemaker will drop all the buildings onto the terrain for you! Thanks!
I bought Placemaker last week. While it is very helpful in terms of getting buildings in place in my dense urban Manhattan location, it falls short in terms of getting 3D elevated highways, specifically the FDR drive near the Two Bridges area. PM says they don't do that. And OSM does seem to help either, but I don't really understand that well enough yet. Is there any way/anyone, who can do a portion of the FDR Drive?
Sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge of Manhattan, but is there any chance any of those are available for download in the 3D warehouse? 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/a29782bdaa3ce5c32f810af75c864ef3/Manhattan-Bridge - Maybe in the related models in here?
No, all those models were for bridges, which I suppose are more attractive subjects than an indefinite elevated road section. Not sure what else to do.
Fabulous excellent video. Yes I think this is extremely useful for not only urban planning but also architecture. Love your videos! Thank you.
Absolutely love this extension! A city with one click!
This is a great video which fills in a lot of gaps as I tried Placemaker for a bit first and then watched your video! Thanks.
This is incredible! I love it. I am doing some event planning and was looking for something like this for the event mock ups.

great video. How can this be exported into STL with roads, buildings, and water for 3D printing?
it's awesomee... I am sure I am gonna use it for my project studioo, thank
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you ♥
Si quiero crear un modelo 3d de mi ciudad y que figure en google maps 3d, debo hacerlo de esta forma?
This is a pretty cool plugin! Just out of curiosity, can you render the buildings like the ones in Open Street Map or do you have to do your own rendering from scratch in this model?
I don't understand the question - you can render if you have a rendering engine
Everything seems wonderful, but I did not undestand one thing: on what does the result quality depend? I mean, does it depend on the resolution quality of the image or on the OpenStreetMap's DATA?

Yes, you can anywhere on Earth

I mean...it creates towns, and you're looking for towns, so...yes? I don't know anyone who's done this exact application
I have a question, can i use it for lumion?! Put these buildings in lumion and thanks.
Sure - it's just a SketchUp model, so you'd export it like any other model
what shall one or do you study, to use this, what bachelor and master ?
Sorry, I don't understand the question...

I have another question. Is there a way to somehow translate this information into a site plan?
Sure - just create viewports and export to layout
Any thoughts of doing a version 2 of "Quickly Model a City in Sketchup with Placemaker"?
can the placemaker import a skin, colors and windows of houses and buldings?
No - it's generating buildings based on building footprints and height above ground to generate the geometry
Hi Justin!
If the city is not flat, would the buildings be built normally?
Hi there! I talk about that in this video - th-cam.com/video/JwNN_Iixs2E/w-d-xo.html - You have to adjust the settings a bit, but Placemaker will drop all the buildings onto the terrain for you! Thanks!
Great! Good Tutorial. Thanks Justin
can i export to obj or fbx??
It's just a SketchUp model - you can export in the same formats you could any other model
@@Thesketchupessentials I am using trial version I can't export to obj or fbx,
it's using the google map data
No

So sad, you can't use switching tools in trial mode. Only preview.
Program sucks
oh that was weird... i live in denver and then you just happened to have denver mapped
Well I live south of Denver :)
So.... Import map... Export to unreal engine... Call of duty on my street!
Mod name
I don't understand the question/comment...
WTH. This is insane.
It's a great extension!
