The beauty of the old school games, you can take an old concept like Outrun, remake it for a far newer system and its still far more fun than any of the newer games being released at the time.
As someone who lives 15 minutes away from Niagara Falls, that scenery is pretty accurate, from the rainbow bridge to the waterfalls to the tourist buildings next to them.
I kept getting recommended this so had a watch, mainly because I love the original Outrun, but also as I could never get to the latter stages like Milky Way on Outrun2 SP. Because this was all 15 stages, I knew it'd have to be someone who could slipstream and drift way better than I ever could, so congratulations!
This game is still a fun one today I remember playing the original of this then playing this version on an arcade with steering wheel and then on psp great game great soundtracks
I can’t do much about the F40, but I used Magical Sound Shower in the follow-up personal best video from last year: th-cam.com/video/NQ7M6SQHs8Y/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
Not the latest graphics, not the 3d graphics, nothing can beat the atmosphere of the original outrun & Rad Mobile. These games were way ahead of their time.
Thanks, man! Though there is one dude who I call master at this game, he goes by "F40" and, unsurprisingly, uses the F40. The dude's racing line is damn near perfect, almost like a robot! (downloaded his ghosts on the OG XBox)
*selects manual transmission* Chad confirmed I love this guy already. People who play racing games with auto transmission are missing the point of what actual motorsports is about. From the very beginning, it's been about the skill involved in choosing the right gear at the right time, applying the right amount of brakes, avoiding over and understeer. Sega has always known this and that's why their racing games are so good. In my opinion Outrun 2006 and by extension Outrun 2 SP is one of the greatest racing games ever made.
At 9:29 there is a strange loop not connected to anything to the left of the 50 in the center top third. I guess it's supposed to be a tree branch but if you go frame by frame (,.) you can see it's not connected to anything,
I think it's supposed to be connected to that branch of the tree some frames before that. As a little after that you see another loop properly "connected" to a tree. It's SEGA (or SUMO Digital) still using sprites to deliver pseudo-3D polygons instead of actually using polygons for environment pieces. There's tons of that trickery in this game used to keep the frame rate high. I also have a theory about how SEGA gets away with all those "wow draw distance" scenes...it's scaling, all of it! The game engine just lays down texture tile road and polygon environments in front of you, endlessly scaling!
Going frame by frame is fascinating, you get to see how things work, sometimes you get so see parts where they said, "eh, it's good enough, no one will see this", LOL
Thanks! I'm recording at 25mbps now so hopefully TH-cam doesn't turn the next one into soup again. Next one's coming real soon, maybe today, maybe tomorrow, 3.8 Million+
I think this is one of the most beautiful racing games ever, and i don't even mean for its time. Each stage is a sight to behold. Puts anything modern to shame.
The distance you can see clearly is what we miss out at home. Cool rewamped music and lovely colors, reminds me of Daytona wich took me AND MY MONEY to another level. Now this is a bit too arcadey for me, but can you switch to cockpit mode?
Yeah, they really went for the draw distance back then on a couple titles. (Planet Harriers is the other one I'm thinking of). I wish they did more of that. There's no cockpit view, even on the arcade version.
@@thesavepointdotnet Ok, that would make it a better game to me. But what i want to know but still dont get is that since the days of 16-Bit and MEGA-CD & 32-bit hype, via The Saturn and then Dreamcast made me poop my pants due to the "will be arcade perfect" i of course had my mind on cotton clouds thinking of 32-bit 2D chrystal perfection and oodles of colors (wich i kinda got in Rayman 1 and Sonic-CD). During this timespan and up til today is 25+ years i played the great Daytona, Ferrari Challenge, Virtua Racing, Exhaust Note the talk was "yea the cabinets are 32-bit and have some aditional chips"..so far so good. But out came Mega CD, Saturn and dreamcast, but none of them came close to the arcades even after all these years (not even Pc today) What actually is in those damn machines i never get to enjoy the graphic dreams of at home?? I mean 25 years and still they are so superior to all the companys zillionbit machines and supercharged technics with the same promises :)
I have his but haven't played it in a long time. Also had the OG Xbox versions. Right now I'm playing the PC version of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. I had forgotten how much bloom the 360 version had.
There are a few, in California. Carved, old Redwood Sequoia trees and logs. They're not as big as they are in the game, the openings are big enough for only 1 car. A couple have been tourist attractions for over a hundred years! Some carved trees are still alive and living for over thousands of years, and some are rather large stumps. You can image search "drive through tree" and see a few of them.

It's a shame Ferrari is stupid with their licensing. This game is a gem and deserves to be made available for new players.

That slipstream, bruh.
So fun, so better than todays realistic racing.

Horizon Chase 👍👍

Pure Soul.
Sumo Digital nailed what made SEGA Arcade games great.
I don't remember getting distracted this much by the 18-wheelers, ambulances, ford trucks that were just flying at 270 kmh next to a Ferrari 😂
Loaded trucks at 300 kmh.
Amazon: Hmmmm, send curriculum please
lol
HR: So, tell me, do you know how to pee into a plastic bottle?
Truck driver: Yep
HR: Hired!
Birds too
That's the reason they call it Arcade!
Just enjoy it and don't Bother!
OutRun, Sega Rally and Daytona....the best racing games!!!!! SEGA.....simply THE BEST
Agreed! Super GT and Initial D, too!
This game is my childhood. Easily my favourite game to play in the arcade growing up.

Thank you! My hands were literally shaking at the last stage seeing my score and how much time I had left, though. It was a huge rush!
I was happy and surprised this still worked on my 360, I thought because the licensing expired it would no longer be available for the downloaded copy
>Drive and drift a waifu around in a Ferrari F50 for 15 minutes straight

birds flying at 300 km / h
Awesome graphics for that era.
I remember watching my dad play this in like the middle of the night, those menu sounds were calming
My ocd wants red f40 and magical sound shower but thanks for video. Outrun just whisks you away on a holiday for 30 mins every time

I miss this game, it was a fun quick game for the 360. Wish Xb1 would get it back.
A superb video game back in the day, I loved to play it, Great PlayStation memory,😊

These landscapes are impressive.
Can't stop looking to see what comes next
the visible distance of this game is amazingly far!
YUp! i Note that too
And keep in mind that this EXACT game is on OG Xbox. It has the same graphics and fps, only the resolution is lower.
There's a difference in traffic, as well. Here, there's more cars on the road, like the arcade version.
Someone need to remaster this game!!
Need for Speed The Run without the dark plot be like:
Love the pickup truck doing 250kph.
You're drifting at 285 kph with a Ferrari that seems turbocharged by the exhaust flames. This is some crazy game 🤣
My lovely arcade racer game, I love it 😍
8:57 those are some FAST ass birds!
this is the inspiration for horizon chase? i love it
Those are the fastest flying birds in existence
That red car 🚘 though even when you outrun it, i comes right before you again.🤣🤣🤣
