    emmymadeinjapan Oh my god, I just had to tell you the cutest story that literally just happened as I was watching this video:
    My 8 year old nephew is visiting me, and I was watching this video while he was playing on the floor. The doorbell rang, so I went to answer it. When I came back my nephew was sitting TRANSFIXED by the computer, and proceeded to shout the following:
    "Uncle! There's a pretty lady inside your computer eating porcupines! You should tell her to stop, she could hurt herself!"
    Just had to tell you :)

    First time I tasted them i was hooked ❤😋😁they were so delicious.. hour later had to go to the ER turned out I'm allergic to them I was soooo sad because they were soo good and now i have to carry an EpiPen 💔☹

    • @Xessa82
      @Xessa82 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When my daughter was 2 she ate a mini peanut butter cup and immediately threw up and in less than 5 minutes her whole body turned red and swelled. She went into anaphylactic shock. Had to call for an ambulance and at the ER they weren't able to get her blood oxygen level to go up and after multiple doses of epinephrine and benedryl they flew her and myself to a children's hospital that's 2 hrs away by helicopter. She ended up finally being okay but she also has to carry an epi pen everywhere and she's deathly allergic to peanut butter. It's such a scary thing considering there's peanut butter every where. At least you're allergy isn't to something super common.

    I miss Rambutan, we used to have 2 red Rambutan and a Yellow Rambutan Tree in our garden back in Australia, we had a lot of fruit and veg plants and trees, I remember Asian neighbours would come by and ask for Pawpaw (Papaya), Long Beans, Mangoes, Bitter Melon and etc.... I miss Rambutan and it's such a healthy fruit!! I am now based in Asia and I see it all the time in Supermarkets yet never bought any as fresh from the tree was always better.

      Licha isn't the same as rambutan. It's really close, but licha is less tropical, has a seed inside and instead of the threads it has those kind of like spikes, but they aren't sharp. I think it differs in taste at least a little. I tried licha, but i didn't try rambutan, so i can't really tell.

    Emmy~☆ :D you need to get yourself some jackfruit! It's somewhat similar to durian but not as horribly pungent but it's flesh you eat (I guess that's what you call it) it's sweet, sticky and chewy lol it tastes great in a smoothie.
    Also to verify to others Rambutan is Lychee's hairy cousin, and it is more chewy and crunchy unlike lychee which is more squishy and watery. :)

    Beware of the skin that is attached to the seeds ...
    May cause itching in the throat (cough)

    • @Rose-8689
      @Rose-8689 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so glad I just saw this! I just bought some and some of the skin of the seed wouldn’t come off the fruit, so I cut around it because I was scared of this exact thing happening. With a new fruit I’m always cautious of the pit/seed or even peel as some I know can even be poisonous.

    Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia Emmy! I grew up eating Rambutan but never once i thought it was similar to a Grape. It actually very similar to Lychees and Longan though. ‘Rambut’ in Melayu (Indonesian/Malaysian) means Hair, so Rambutan is suitable name for such hairy fruit. The widest varieties, wild and cultivated of Rambutan can be found in Indonesia and Malaysia.

    I tried these about a year ago now! They were such an interesting taste and texture, it was wonderful! But I think I might have gotten an unripe one, because I didn't get crunchy at all, like you described it. It was rubbery for me! Like, I went to bite a piece of it off, and the fruit was so dense that I stopped mid-bite and couldn't get further unless I bit hard. But it tasted exactly as you said. It was very sweet, but not sickeningly so. I really liked everything about it, and I hope I can eat one again sometime!

    Hey, I went to the farmers market with my mom today and I came across a Rambutan fruit. I never heard of this fruit until today. When I went to register I saw these fuzzy/spike looking things. I just asked to try one and the cashier open the Rambutan fruit and it was good. I ended getting a whole bag for $4.50. My mom was freaked out, but I told her it taste like a grape. Now I want to try a dragon fruit.

    Omg when I went to the Phillippines to visit family when I was 5 years old, I remember the look of the fruit made me a little apprehensive about trying it because the outside looked a little scary but it’s safe to say that it very quickly became one of my favourite fruits and to this day I still crave them. They're so good! Especially when they're fresh.
