Good call on cancelling that trip. I'm on the SW Irish coast and I've never seen a Summer where the weather has been so continuously unpredictable. Not only can you not trust it to be stable for as little as 24 hours, but the wind can vary from nothing to F7 AND box the compass over a few hours. You'd have taken a real kicking on that trip any time in the last few months and for the foreseeable. On Pollock, best I've heard is crush and layer on a packet of cheese and onion crisps and grill or bake.

That was very enjoyable. Thanks for the beer batter demo. I have the same 2 burner gas stove in my galley, which means as long as I do every step the same, it will come out as good!
I feel your frustration! This season has been a write off for me with little chance of getting many miles in for the rest of the year. Ive still managed to spend a fortune on the boat! I'm beginning to question my sanity.

About failing gear... all too often when the gear finally stops failing b'cause everything had been upgraded, refurbished or fixed - well, then you sell the boat 😆

Yummy fish 🐟. I sometimes mix a little bit of smokey paprika or red pepper in my batter. It gives the fish a bit of flavor. 💖⛵🐕

They turned out to be an impressive pair of pollocks in the end.
You are better being over-stocked with fuel and try to keep one spare can in reserve in case the main tank gets contaminitaed. Fair Winds.
To my absolute shame. Am running the same impeller 16 years! Always worried to fit new chinesium as won't last more than couple of years. !!
