OK I think here is the reason why hirata said what he said according to me...well he obviously didn't know Yamauchi was plotting against ayano so to him it seemed like horikita was just destroying Yama [ deserved ] but he personally felt that it would be better if Class doesn't target vote anyone and just let luck decide who is expelled.. I can see why because if u see Yamauichi statement he doesn't feel like he is betraying his class ( because for him ayano is just a normal average guy with no friends) .. well we know that ayano is goat and is carrying but he doesn't... so when sakayanagi honey trapped him he would have thought it's logical ( not saying he was right but hirata did say that yamauchi actions are bad too) .. lastly we don't know backstory of hirata ( I don't know aswell) maybe something related to that... but we should understand that as much as it's yamauchi fault ..the real problem was genuinely the exam..imagine getting expelled from a highly advanced school in ur teenage😂..Anyway loved ur reaction. 😊

If u take Hirata's caring character into perspective, ull see why he created a scene. Basically by creating a "monster Hirata" which no one has seen, he was setting himself as the sacrifice. If this kind of test had happened in the early days, he might very well have recieved huge negative points, but bcoz it took place after he had well established his place, it didn't matter and his plan failed.
The reason why Ayanokouji have the most positive vote is because Arisu told class A to do that just like she said "The king must stay until the end" and hirata is like Ichinose but the different is he don't have a chance to save anyone,in the last few days hirata stress because of this exam and suzune declare that is the breaking point of him

The reason why Hirata was top 2 on positive vote even he acted arrogant and crazy, it because everyone in class D know his intention, and that is making everyone voted him out, so that's why they give him a positive vote instead since they know Hirata is just acting that way
Kushida didn't really cap about not wanting Ayanokoji expelled. Yeah, she couldn't care less about him as a person, but they did make a deal where he gives her half of his private points from now on. She wouldn't miss him, but she wouldn't want to lose those points either. As she said, she only helped Yamauichi out because Sakayanagi knew about her true identity.
ok but fr tho the voice acting in this episode went hard also, in the ln, it was revealed that Hirata's plan was to get the class to hate him so they'd cast their negative votes on him. However, that didn't work as he was simply too popular. but yeah either way he lacks the ability to cut someone loose when it's necessary. At least with Ichinose, getting over that 20 mil hump was within their range
I think is because the delayed they have more time to work with the anime so they can decided which volume to focus on not like season 2 which feel rushed with the amount of outsource episode

In case it's unclear why Ryuen has 5 million points, it's because he made a deal with Katsuragi in the very first exam on the island to get 20000 points every month from everyone in Class A (I don't remember if the deal was the same, but he gets points from Class A), which is why Ryuen has so many points on hand. Why in class A not Katsuragi was kicked out but Yahiko, as it was said, is because he is simply not so useful and it is also a sign for the people who are still against Sakayanagi, also she shows that if Katsuragi refuses to join her, she will kick out people who are less useful but have nothing to do with it (she wants to bring him under her control). Also to Hirata because the outburst comes across as pretty weird so but as we already know, he is a person who wants to save everyone and is in favor of equality, even if it is perhaps logical, he doesn't see that, which is due to his background story, which should probably be shown in the next episodes, so I won't go into that. Furthermore, he made a suggestion in the LN so that his classmates don't hate and agitate against each other, he himself wanted to be targeted in this election and kicked out (but obviously didn't happen because everyone respects and likes him. I think you were missing Hirata's point. I reckon the flaw he was trying to point out is that Yamauichi is not the only guy who has or will turn against the class for his own interests, and that trying to pin the class' problems on him falls flat. But the issue with his rebuttal is that it assumes a better option exists, as displayed by his constant belief in a sort of "loophole" to be found.
Guys, I'm of the opinion that Hirata voluntarily reacted that way to get himself expelled in Yamaguchi's place, in fact when they nominated him as second most protected he got nervous since his plan didn't work.

I don't read LN or the manga but I think Arisu just pulled a big brain move here. With 1 move she completed 2 of her objectives. 1- expel yamauchi, 2- drag Ayanokoji into the sport light. The first reason is because do you think the top dog of the school would just stay still after yamauchi embarrassed her before this? And 2nd is because she knew Ayanokoji don't like to be known so she made class A give positive votes to Ayanokoji
I known it was logical but someone who is think emotionally is gonna disagree even if it's true, so makes sense to me. I mean the dude was close ro having an emotional breakdown in season 1!
A majority of people even in real life can’t separate emotions from there judgment some can use a mathematical thought process and those people are labeled sociopaths for there lack of empathy and coldness when the reailty is a good chunk of the time there just using a mathematical thought process which leads to that image.
For context on Hirata’s behavior, iirc (I read this volume like 2 or 3 years ago so I might be mistaking sth) but there was some back story in the past (about his middle school or so) that makes him just does not want anyone to be left behind (he just cares about everyone equally), not want to create/witness a situation where everybody gangs up on 1 person to push him/her down, so when this test comes that 1 person must be expelled, he wants to not have any strategy, just face it naturally and whoever gets expelled will be expelled, that way he won’t be self-blaming like for the thing that once happened before that he kept blaming himself until now. (Sorry for my English, its not my first language). So yea, Hirata boy got it rough, I wont blame him.
Hirata needs to step down and let Suzune run the show with Ayanokoji guiding her whenever she needs. I think it's about time. And if it weren't for his popularity he should get expelled after Kushida but the same goes for her. It's going to be tough.
Hirata's issue is that his philosophy is based of pure idealism which is why he gets swayed by his own emotions. To accept logic as the only way for resolution is something that he rejects. It literally made him expose his dark side a bit
Remember reading this volume long ago, vol10 which is the arc that just finished (episodes 6-8) I thought to myself, could I do such a thing? Expel a friend…I very much hate YamaLame but looking at it from others POV, especially his friends. That’s a real tuff call. So where did kiyotakas positive votes come from? why didn't yamauchi actually get class A's positive votes?.. sakayanagi doesn't need utilization of the positive votes because she has absolute power besides headphone dent and expelee... Ayanokojis connections are so far and wide he is regarded as the king by all of the class presidents including the president of his own class. But arisu's (sakayanagi) situation is complicated. I got that all from the anime, also how did horikita know about the negetive votes for kiyotaka? Did they show the full extent of the meeting Suzune had with her brother Horikita Manabu?
Personally hirata is too morally just, which causes him to be annoying because he always is such an emotional burden when it comes to logical decisions. But love my boi tho

I don't read LN or the manga but I think Arisu just pulled a big brain move here. With 1 move she completed 2 of her objectives. 1- expel yamauchi, 2- drag Ayanokoji into the sport light. The first reason is because do you think the top dog of the school would just stay still after yamauchi embarrassed her before this? And 2nd is because she knew Ayanokoji don't like to be known so she made class A give positive votes to Ayanokoji
I known it was logical but someone who is think emotionally is gonna disagree even if it's true, so makes sense to me. I mean the dude was close ro having an emotional breakdown in season 1!

For context on Hirata’s behavior, iirc (I read this volume like 2 or 3 years ago so I might be mistaking sth) but there was some back story in the past (about his middle school or so) that makes him just does not want anyone to be left behind (he just cares about everyone equally), not want to create/witness a situation where everybody gangs up on 1 person to push him/her down, so when this test comes that 1 person must be expelled, he wants to not have any strategy, just face it naturally and whoever gets expelled will be expelled, that way he won’t be self-blaming like for the thing that once happened before that he kept blaming himself until now. (Sorry for my English, its not my first language).
So yea, Hirata boy got it rough, I wont blame him.
Hirata needs to step down and let Suzune run the show with Ayanokoji guiding her whenever she needs. I think it's about time. And if it weren't for his popularity he should get expelled after Kushida but the same goes for her. It's going to be tough.

Hirata's issue is that his philosophy is based of pure idealism which is why he gets swayed by his own emotions. To accept logic as the only way for resolution is something that he rejects. It literally made him expose his dark side a bit

So where did kiyotakas positive votes come from? why didn't yamauchi actually get class A's positive votes?.. sakayanagi doesn't need utilization of the positive votes because she has absolute power besides headphone dent and expelee... Ayanokojis connections are so far and wide he is regarded as the king by all of the class presidents including the president of his own class. But arisu's (sakayanagi) situation is complicated. I got that all from the anime, also how did horikita know about the negetive votes for kiyotaka? Did they show the full extent of the meeting Suzune had with her brother Horikita Manabu?
