      The Black and Brown Coalition no longer exist anymore. Times were different back then. 1943. There was a documentary on this incident on public TV, some time ago, about how violent this was. White servicemen fighting against LA Latinos. Wearing of Zoot Suits were popular with Black and Latino men. Back then. My late grandfather told me about them. Afterwards, there was the 1965, 1992, and 2020 Black rioting in LA.

You guys are a walking stereotype for a reason. And I can guarantee no black person here would walk the streets of LA without the worrying about having another of your fellow black person jacking your 💩. Even Atlanta is a great example of what people do best, and protesting for equality and minorities isn’t it.

    I remember a stage play circa 1978 or 1979 entitled, "Zoot Suit", which touched on the 1943 riot in L.A. I saw it at the Aquarius Theatre on Sunset Blvd. across from the Hollywood Palladium. Malcolm X also spoke of wearing a zoot suit as he walked through (I think) it might have been Grand Central Station, or perhaps it was Pennsylvania Station in NYC.
    Also, there was a German Wehrmacht wartime magazine (yes, THAT Germany during WW2) called, "Signal". They carried an article from 1943, replete with photos, of the Zoot Suit Riots in L.A. Some of their articles had been compiled into several hard cover volumns during the late 1970's and translated into English. That's how I saw the article.

We made all of these cities great. I can't think of one that is considered a great City that didn't include black people.

  • @real32487
    @real32487 ปีที่แล้ว +95

    The whole history is a shame. Black ppl have been very compassionate and understanding about oppression and have vocally stood up for other groups. The generation today needs to be taught that being "lighter" may bring them more benefits but there was a time when lighter wasn't good enough because they still weren't considered "white". On the flipside, Mexico banned slavery before the US did and even refused to return runaway slaves who were escaping Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc. There was even an underground railroad that ran from those regions to Mexico because the trek North was too long and riskier so folks took the southern route. Hence, there was a black American and even a black Seminole population that developed in Mexico but we don't read about them too much. Maybe some of those ppl migrated back to the US after slavery ended or just remained and integrated into the larger population. I don't refer to folks south of the border as "trash" (as seen in one post around here) because their bloodlines and history vary- including some indigenous/black. Besides, the migrants flooding today are mostly Venezuelans and that's a whole other story.

    Those Zoot Suits were nice, but no one should have been harmed because of them. These people's hostility towards Black people especially proves that anything that is not theirs originally is always either stolen and/or sabotaged by them.
    Black people are basically good people and have helped so many others with their struggles but received either nothing in return and/or the middle finger. What is just as sad is the fact that these people (not only Latinos) don't want to acknowledge our helping them period and often side with others who have great disdain for Black people from all over the world.

    Imagine the power of black and brown united not divided. Mexicans have been taught about colorism when they were enslaved by the conquistadors. Growing up around mexicans they hate on their own people. The gangs on the west coast and prison system divide races, creating the bigger divide. Here on the east coast i see they are more united. We are all brown skin people and the more we realise how similar we are to each other the more we can achieve together. It's about teaching the newer generations about uniting, at the end of the day esau doesnt like any of us, blacks, Hispanics and the native Americans.

    I love for my brothers and sisters here in America stated to inquire about moving to the motherland they are giving dual citizenships to all dependence. There’s no reason for us to be here and this is one of the reason why the colonizers fear so much because if we pack up and leave, they won’t have anything and they notice, but yet they give you false information about the motherly all the commercials we see on the TV here in the United States of poverty, the motherland she has so much riches and so much beauty she don’t need the world. The world needs Her. so we need to start looking at moving and start one by one spread the word we don’t have to live like this. We just need to help one another and it can be done. The cell phones they put in the black community. I want my people to understand. They only put them in our neighborhood so they can find out what’s going on.
