  • Servo Motor Position Control System - Part 1: Closed-Loop Response with Unity-Gain Control
    In this setup, we control the output position using unity-gain feedback, which is practically a proportional control with controller gain of 1. The input signal is a step input from the function generator, which applies the voltage directly to the summing point of the control loop.
    The closed-loop response shows underdamped characteristics, which translates into a second-order or higher-order system (filter).
    In the next part, we need to reduce the large overshoot we have now. In order to get to this point, we need to translate the specifications in the time domain into dominant pole locations using the root locus method or into phase margin requirements using the frequency response method.
