There must be a focus on making good fathers in today's world. The conduct of some of the "fathers" on shows like "18 and Pregnant" on MTV is an absolute appalling vision of what fatherhood is even in older ages. I didn't have one and the closest thing I got was my grandfather who was far too old to show a youngster like me how to do things. He gave me spiritual guidance, which is truly a great thing; but we need BOTH: Active, Devoted, and SPIRITUAL husbands and fathers! God Bless Fr Bill Casey!
Fr Casey is really good at noticing one really important truth. I know, and noticed, really good fathers in many places. There are many many good fathers. BUT, there are also really rare. A real good father helps a really nice mother to fulfill her strength of motherhood. We are living harsh generation, a really tough one, a really sad one also. Maybe we aren't fully aware of it?! Maybe it is better that way?! Maybe it is time to pray really hard. Those children without real good father are having really hard time, and I don't know how to reach them... so, for now on, I pray for them for those children and for those children fathers.
For any fathers who are watching this, Pray to St. Joseph, who was the father figure for Christ and the husband of Mary. He will surely help you be a good father.
It's so rare that you hear from any Catholic pulpit any backup to the four NT passages that tells wives to obey their husbands. That holy commandment is based in nature as well as revelation: bulls in the pasture, roosters in the hen house, etc.
