You have inspired me, I am 24 and the money always kept me back because a car is to expensive for me. I am going to this when the lockdown ends. Hopefully next summer!

Hey Peter, I just watched your awesome 7 part scooter ride around Australia. At the end I was like, oh no, he's retired and giving the bikes up, then I see this, "Scooter trip round Europe". Good to see you're still out there Peter. Maybe our paths will cross some day.out there in the long paddock.

Hey Toracube, I took left on this trip ten years ago now. It was reasonably inexpensive, the bike was cheap to buy and to run. The biggest expense was accommodation as I left in late winter early spring and was to cold to camp, therefore I stayed in B and B's That was expensive but worth it. It was a great experience and one I would recommend to anyone. DO IT :)

True inspiration, what a fantastic thing to do.
I think that my main worry would be doing so many miles a day on such a small engine, i do 5 miles on mine and the engine is really warm.

Really great. I am trying to do something similar. How much did the trip cost ? Forgive me asking.

Amazing tour. Thank you for your video.
All this, with a 50ccm scooter only.
It makes me happy. To see whats possible.
I bought a near same scooter for 40 Euro some weeks ago.
Now I repair and prepare it from the ground, to go on tour with it.
I want to add a small scooter trailer, to take more luggage ie for camping.
I have over 43 years of experience to repair scooters, motorcycles and cars.
I´m a man, age 57. So i think, I can fix problems at the scooter on tour.
Do you had problems with your scooter on this tour ? What kind of ?

      @peteredman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey Sunnymas, thanks for your comment. I am the same age as you, 1961 was a great year :) I took this trip 14 years ago now, it was a really wonderful time for me. I hope you make this trip for yourself and have as great time as I did. I only had one problem with the scooter, the last 1,000 kms I had no front brake and therefore hardly any brakes at all so it was a real challenge to stop in time. I hope you get your scooter ready for your trip and I hope I see it here so I can watch it for myself. Best of luck with it. Regards from Tasmania :)

+Peter Redman - Thank you for your answer.
Yes, i will show my trip too, via TH-cam. After it.
And I send you the link for it.
Also to show, how easy it can be, to make a trip like this.
A 49 ccm scooter seems to slow and too small, for a big trip like this.
But anyway, it is possible. And slow travelling can be relaxing.
In your case I think, it was just a scooter borrowed from a friend.
So you take it, and try it out. To be able, to start the tour.
In my case it is because of small money. I cannot get a fulltime job.
But I want to go again, on the road. I need this.

+Peter Redmann - At all tours, I want to be independent as possible.
So tools and spare parts are always with me. To fix problems.
But Everyone makes his own experiences.
I have 40 years of experiences with scooters etc., cars, motorcycles.
But they are very different, what they need.
And your tours ie in the outback of Australia needs more, as in Europe.
Two friends of mine were in Tasmania 20 years ago.
But they had made a professional animal movie about the tasmanian devil for the german television. So they drove a german Unimog = all terrain small truck.
To take all the gear that they need it.
Here their YT channel: Hans Schweiger

I supposed cooking with fresh meat and vegetables is not an option since limited carry capacity. Do you eat out all the time? Or buying groceries from stores whenever it is convenient? Yes, I had heard dehydrated foods, but that is if you don't mind eating them every meal. By the way, very inspiring!

    • @peteredman
      @peteredman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey Joe, I ate out every night. I planned to cook and camping out, but being late Winter and early Spring, it was too cold, so I stayed in BnB's every night and ate in restaurants every meal. It was totally lazy of me and was quite expensive, but it was too cold for me too care. It was a truely great trip and almost 19 years ago now. If you was wondering, I did it on a 50cc because I didn't have a motorcycle licence at the time. It was lots of fun, albeit a little slow.
Thanks for watching and the interest.
      Regards

    • @peteredman
      @peteredman  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+kush5794 Hey Kush, well, as I stated, the trip lasted for four weeks, so pretty much everyday, except for a few days each I spent in Lyon, Paris and Amsterdam, so I guess I would have had three weeks of solid riding to do the 4002 kms of my journey. Are you planning a journey like this? I hope you are :) Thanks for the question. Cheers

Really inspiring video! One of the things i have on my Bucketlist is a mopedride trough scandinavia. From the northernmost point (Nordkapp) to the southernmost point (Smygehuk).

Hey MrLennybach, this trip was a long time ago, almost 17 years ago now. It was long before HD was even a thing, let alone helmet cams. It was never meant to happen, but the first plan fell through and I just looked at my little 50cc and thought why not, the rest is history.

Hey jesuisravi, fair comment. The camera is a 2003 model Sony standard quality tape. No HD in those days unless you had lots of money. I wish I had the equipment we have today when I was traveling and adventuring.

    Music only?
    No explanation?
    No travelogue?
    No advice?
    What route did you take?
    Problems with LE?
    Did you enjoy the trip?
    Did you hate the trip?
    Did you meet nice people?
    How about the food?
    Where did you sleep?
Were you attacked by random gangs of killer jihadists?
The best thing about this video was the music - and it sucked...
