I hate when your going the speed limit and under in my case, and these assholes just over take you. So many people break the speed limit, it’s not ok!!
I've done it before to someone on their phone, they cut me up twice on a dual carriageway trying to stay out of sight of the police car, when we got to the end where the lights were I pulled up alongside the police and asked them to have a word with the driver. Policeman laughed when he looked in the mirror and said he could see him on his phone.
It reminds me of a situation where I was on the M54 stuck in traffic, when five or six cars decide to use the hard shoulder to avoid the jam. Half an hour later when we started moving, we caught up with those drivers, who had been stopped by around ten Police cars that had been parked up in waiting. Karma
@@50buttfish - the passenger got out because she's the bitch who insulted the driver, and FORCED him to go after a Learner Driver car. Odds on, she can't drive a car herself, but she probably drives the Driver mental.
@@svartmetall48 I was just about to say the same haha - not totally surprising as I’m subscribed over a few platforms but he popped up over on Facebook a couple of nights ago to point out a parasol looked like a grim reaper watching over a dog in a swimming pool lol. I was already tripping a little bit but that sent me skyward and I had to put my phone down 🎉
SomethingReallyStrange glad it wasn’t just me with the sharp intake of breath then! I’ve always maintained that if I ever won the lottery I’d buy a robust car and whenever anyone did this to me I’d keep on going and take their door with me - it’d be my millionaire’s hobby and if people asked me if money had changed me I’d be like absolutely lol 😂
So they're speeding because they're in a hurry to get somewhere but have the time to follow, harass and tailgate a learner driver until they're told off by the police? Curiouser and curiouser.
And the time saved is negligible the faster you are going. Example speeds with 10mph difference 30mph - 1 mile (00:02:00) 40mph - 1 mile (00:01:40) 20 seconds faster (16.67% faster) 30mph - 10 miles (00:20:00) 40mph - 10 miles (00:15:00) 5 minutes faster (25% faster) 70mph - 100 miles (01:25:43) 80mph - 100 miles (01:15:00) 10 minutes faster (12.5% faster) So at 70-80mph you break the law to get there 12.5% faster while using 16% more fuel, you are paying more in fuel to save time while increasing the risk of crashing and also being caught speeding. The fine for speeding related to how much you earn and hour would mean that the time you "saved" driving faster, would now be deducted from your hourly salary. Unless you earn a lot or you don't work and are rich then your time is related to money.
Excellent point. I would also add that they will also just beat you to traffic which will then limit their speed anyway. Also I would imagine that it would be even more than 16% fuel use since air resistance will be greater at higher speeds
Some people act on the roads in a way they wouldn't on the pavement. Because they are inside their metal cocoon and, therefore, their personality changes completely. On the pavement they wouldn´t say boo to another man because their cocoon has been taken away.
Very late reply, sorry ... there's a video on TH-cam of a Goofy cartoon called Mr Walker v Mr Wheeler, or something like that, which demonstrates your point perfectly.
I remember reading an article about a study a few years back that found that people generally categorized into 3 categories of spaces: Private spaces (home, bathroom), Shared Spaces (office, gym) and public spaces (streets, parks). The conflict comes in that a car is full of familiar sounds, smells and things, giving the appearance of being in private, when in reality you are just sitting right in the middle of the street. If anyone knows what I'm referring to, please lmk where I can find it again...
Sad thing is they do it for kicks most of the time. I get tailgated mostly when passing trucks etc on duals or M-ways. A lot of self entitled child-egos on our roads & they actually believe behaving like a child for all to see is OK.
One of my friends got followed by a car and she wasn't going on main roads and it wasn't a coincidence so she drove directly to the police station and locked her doors and call the non-emergency line and the creep following her drove off
I'll bet he backed off real quick then, when he realized you were getting close to the police station. Actually this is the perfect thing to do when encountering an asshole aggressively following you or harassing you.
So, I've had my drivers license for 9 years or so. But I recently started taking motorcycle lessons, which makes me have to go through the whole process again. Before my first time on the road, my instructor said 'always keep calm, there is no point to frustration in traffic. Not in a car, *especialy* not on a motorbike'. And he's right. Just give people some space and forgive mistakes. Especialy with a learner driver. I bet that man has forgotten he was a learner once, or were exams not a thing back then? Because it looks like he could use a lesson or 10.
Most of this stuff is just the cut and thrust of driving. If anyone here can swear they have never been is a situation where they are technically in the wrong I would like to meet them. The voice over guy seems a bit melodramatic thinking the guy was going to follow them all over the countyside. Most of these car drivers are mouthy because they are in their cars, and think they are either protected or can get away. Witness the number of women and who give the finger and swear, or motorcyclists who hit a mirror then ride off. All getting the cops onto them did was piss them off more, (and they probably took it out on someone else down the road) I'm willing to bet they were arguing in the car before they even came across the driver, which is why they were in a bad mood from the get-go. Leaning to ignore them would be a valuable lesson for the student.
Old Baldylocks Will get his Comeuppance One Day.! He will be Very Aggressive to the Wrong Person.! Then he Will Regret what he did.! Or it will happen once to often, Jump Out of his Car and Get Hit by a Lorry or A Drunk or Drugged Up Driver.!
@@Cheepchipsable The way I look at it is, we were all novices at one stage, and I afford them extra room and stay patient, the same way I wish others had been with me as a learner.
I remember I was doing 40km in a school zone and there was this bmw guy behind me was tailgating me to go faster he even honked but i still went the 40km i can see in the rearview mirror he was getting mad so he decided to overtake me with speed i averaged 70km he showed me the middle finger and boy a black dodge police car pulled out of nowhere right near the school and pull him over i slow down pointed at him and started to laugh omg it was so satisfying
@Dashcam leicester you didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed of the Volvo
Almost no sooner had the learner car pulled out it was in the middle lane, consequently I suspect the car didn't overtake to err on the side of caution, typical that the cars that are driven fast the drivers brain doesn't keep up with the relevant observation skills necessary to do so safely, if you choose to drive fast you need to accept that others might not be expecting you to do so and by driving fast your baulking others that want to change lane when you shouldn't even be there.
A number of commentors have suggested that you should have left him to it and ignored him. I strongly disagree! Unless challenged drivers like him will continue to drive badly and harass other drivers; eventually someone will be intimidated into an accident. One of the reasons there are so many discourteous and downright dangerous drivers around is because there is no-one to challenge them since police patrols are so reduced compared to a few years ago. In my opinion you made good use of the opportunity to bring his behaviour to the attention of the police and had video evidence to support your statement. Also, I consider the opinion of someone whose profession is the teaching of safe driving and whose own driving and teaching methods are regularly assessed to be very relevant and of far more value and substance than that of any keyboard warrior.
drayco thanks for your comments. There are so many keyboard warriors that whatever is uploaded someone always has a different opinion. This I understand fully. In my opinion any discussion about Road safety incident is good discussion. My reasons for putting such videos online is not to embarrass the other party, but maybe make others think. Many thanks for your time to contribute. Regards, Ashley.
The sad thing is that thugs like that usually take it out on somebody else if you challenge them and beat them (like in this instance with the cop), it's lucky his girlfriend is the mouthy sort and one of his own kind or he probably would have went home and lamped her for "just sitting there" or started a fight with the next person he met. Some people never put their schoolboy mentality behind them.
It’s scary to be honest how some people get so aggressive when behind the wheel. Good thing you managed to get the police car flagged down. That could have gone south very easily and quickly as they were just looking for confrontation.
If it was me, as soon as they got out of their car and came towards me I would have hit the central locking button and been out of there as soon as I got the opportunity. There are so many nutters about these days you just don't know what you are dealing with. I am in my sixties and slightly built.
This was wholly unacceptable behaviour and very well handled by yourself. I'm glad someone has the guts to stand up to bullies like this who will end up causing accidents due to unnecessarily aggressive driving.
We need a law here in the UK that prevents people like that from driving. As soon as that metal shell is removed and they struggle to commune to work. Only then they'll understand and making better decisions.
I’ve had about 20 hours of driving lessons so far, I haven’t taken my test yet but I’ve had drivers shout at me to “hurry up”, “learn in a car park” and my favourite, by a group of boys that i was “going to fail”. I’m not even on the road yet but I’m already pressured and make anxious by other drivers, even though I am trying to learn properly and be safe on the road. I honestly think drivers should have to retake driving tests every decade or so because some people’s attitude and driving skills are absolutely atrocious, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t even properly drive yet. People drive with their egotistical attitudes.
Do you think people will drive like that on retests lol? They'd just behave themselves on the test then go back to usual when on their own. It wouldn't work and just add unnecessary expense and inconvenience to the vast majority that don't act like this. They know full well what they are doing wrong.
This is brilliant. The man requested you pull over and sort the issue out, and so you drove along and flagged down a conveniently placed cop, pulled over and the situation was sorted out. No idea why he was so angry about you simply fulfilling his request 😂
The Volvo driver is what I would call an aggressive driver. He is an accident waiting to happen. He is angry and drives angry. Any perceived fault in another driver just makes him worse. If possible, get out of his way. Call the police if he is becoming too dangerous. Don't let him injure or kill you.
Can I just say how much I appreciate a how level headed and calm you are in making every situation a teaching moment for all of us out on the road! It’s a reminder that it is the responsibility of all drivers to be vigilant yet have some self-control on our emotions. We don’t need to add another idiot onto our roads
I'm a driving instructor and I can only see things getting worse. Every day we run the gauntlet of verbal and possibly physical abuse for driving within the speed limit. Stay safe my friend and keep those cameras rolling.
ttdt for a newly qualified driver, I have been on the road just under a year. You would think no one knew what speed limits are. No matter the weather they tailgate, speed, take up all the road and get in annoyed if someone dares to just be careful when they drive and not speed up just for them. They can hop it :)
I feel the same way as a van driver in a speed tracked van; I get a shitload of harassment from people who need to go, what, 5-10mph faster than me. It's a general disrespect for the rules of the road; some people see them as an inconvenience and only need to be followed when the Police are watching. So why is it getting worse? Less Police. I'm amazed that there was an officer there at the exact moment this gentleman needed one. They're very rarely about when things kick off on the road because there simply aren't enough of them outside of the Motorway/Expressway network.
ttdt as a driver I now expect to have someone driving close to me as I’m doing the the speed limit in a old defender!! But the mind boggles to think people do that to learners as well.
ttdt if there’s any car I’m likely to be extra patient and understanding around, it’s people learning to drive. Stuck in a hill? I got all the time in the world.. insecure getting into a busy roundabout? I’ll listen to the radio for a bit. It is what it is, and stressing people out over it doesn’t help at all.
Just to say I think your choice of lane 2 was correct. I don't understand why people are saying you should have stayed in lane 1. As soon as there are signs saying a lane ahead is closed, it's time to move over. Otherwise you could end up with cars alongside you, and you wouldn't be able to move over.
It’s idiots like this why I’m glad my Dad’s retired. He’d been a driving instructor since 1993 and said how much people attitudes on the roads have changed. I’m looking at getting off driving for a living, there’s just no pleasure in driving anywhere anymore.
i'm amazed you got the cop to stop, in London they would just laught at you. Even with video evidence they are not interested. The driving standards in the UK have sadly plummeted steadily i would say in the last 20 years, and a once nation of mostly courteous drivers are getting angrier, more selfish and downright nasty. And as police road patrols have seemingly vanished in the last few years, it seems like the lunatics are running the asylum.
I was a driving instructor for many years, and i will always remember the time my pupil was executing a bay park in a pub carpark. Bare in mind the pub wasn't open and there where no cars in the carpark. The landlord decided in his wisdom to close the barrier and padlock it, no mention of asking us to leave, he was very agressive. The police had to be called, and we where in the carpark for over a hour.
seen it all mate, this guy has aggression written all over him, he might have passed a test once but would certainly not pass another without further tuition, especially in road manners.[ ex driving instructor].
When i approach a learner i always think of the time when i was learning and have respect for the pupil to learn in a safe as possible enviroment. Just to clarify what i do for a living, i work in traffic managment and see outragous behaviour on a daily basis and in my opinion people are getting worse. We really need to have a goverment programme where every 5-10 years we have a compulsory driving refresher.
I agree Vincent because when you’re learning to drive you’d have an instructor or full license holder ie a parent with you in the car telling you what your doing wrong but once you pass the test & get a full license you’ll start to pick up bad habits & nobody will correct you
Perhaps stated already, but the speeder is obviously not a competent fast driver, he had an immediate then second opportunity to overtake in the empty lane, but his indecision missed them both. He's not competent to make fast decisions at the speeds he's willing to drive at. Even if he was pissed off by his own inabilities, once you turned off onto the side road it was a queue in front, all he would have gained by overtaking you is to be behind the red car that you were then stuck behind. For anyone sensible it made it obvious the fight to be first at those traffic lights was now futile.
I drive like somebody from the third world, that is to say, very fast, all the time. When I see slower moving traffic ahead I get into the passing lane before I even get anywhere near them. Some people have to get right up your ass and tailgate for awhile before they figure out you are going slower than they want to go and the thing to do is to go around. Their brains just work differently I guess.
What actually baffles me , is that if someone is driving within the speed limit, the person behind who wants to get past, should overtake..not sit on your backside moaning , or intimidating the driver to go faster...It's actually irrational. This has nothing to do with people in a rush..It's just another facet of our society; just another case of violent intimidating individuals. Reiterating my point; these incidence should be reported and the persons involved put on record.
I've had next door neighbours like that. Just an endless cacophony of screeching, thumping and expletives (often directed at their young children, usually followed by crying) coming through the walls.
I'm an older driver, but i have noticed over the years a growing impatience on our roads.I put it down to the fact that we have lot's more cars than actual road space for average driving speeds. This is only going to get worse as time goes on.
Yes indeed John. The roads are rapidly becoming over crowded with motor vehicles and when you have two vehicles trying to occupy the same space at the same time you are heading for serious confrontation. The world is becoming over populated and worldwide every ten years there is an area of ground the size of England covered in either tar mac or concrete which is alarming.
MrR2185 hear hear! Most of the worlds problems are caused because we just can’t stop finding snug holes for our body parts. Grow up. Also it does seem the less educated you are then the more kids you often have, compounding the problem.
I've not been driving for very long. I don't believe I'm amazing driver. I admit I have made mistakes and I've learned from them. Yet I believe there are drivers out there who sadly think they are something special, think they know everything and even think they are above the law. Many times driving in a 20mph road, I've had people tailgate me and someone even once went into the back of my car as a result. She put it down to her being in a rush and me being slow when in fact I was driving at the correct speed limit and she was pushing above it. If drivers are in a rush, leave earlier and stop risking everyone else's lives just because their ego needs a good boost. And another time which did scare me. Luckily my bf was with me. I was approaching a roundabout and one of those drivers who think they are sports drivers came speeding down and almost cut me up. A police car drove past and as a result got all triggered and start beeping me, flashing me and followed me for miles.
It is those who think they're good drivers who are the most dangerous. During 50 years, I drove well over a million miles in Britain and France, in many different types of vehicle, including towing long trailers, and I never stopped learning: there is always room for improvement. I don't think I was a good driver, but I was never stopped by the police for any offence, and I am amazed by those who drive in such a way as to get themselves banned from driving: how on earth do they do it?.
What a knobhead you can't even use the road these days without people like him kicking of over nothing. What hope is there for anyone who's learning on the road when there's so much bullies on your backside.
You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed of the Volvo
Actually it was great forward planning as further up the lane to the far left was closed. In normal circumstances yes preferably left lane but in this instance he did everything right
Idiots like this terrify me! Us concious drivers who drive sensibility within the speed limit get bullied by agressive speeding bullies! No police officer is ever there to witness either!
I drive fast, but i don't lose my temper if someone's driving slow, people like this make us look like assholes. If he really wanted to go that fast, he should've just overtaken him, he had the space and time.
He squandered his chance to overtake easily, then made a half-hearted attempt to overtake where it was illegal to overtake i.e. pedestrian crossing. When he started to pull out to the right, he used his left indicator.
We've all had it. I remember passing my test in 2016 and driving along the motorway to a 50mph reduced speed limit. This woman in a Focus behind tailgated me, flashed her lights and got angry about it before overtaking and speeding off.
Sad to say it but that’s s seems more and more common. People are so aggressive. I don’t like driving anymore because of daily incidents. Pet hate is people not indicating, especially on motorways. So dangerous.
@Dogsdoodas explain to me at the beginning of the video, he turns into the furthest lane over. If the law is to turn into the closest lane AND then merge into the next one this would make the tailgater justified. he basically cut him off.
Sullivan Rivers . Watch the video again from the start. When the learner driver turns onto the three lane carriageway there is a sign on the left showing Lane one is blocked. He was well within his rights to stay in Lane two and the Volvo driver had plenty of time to overtake if he wanted to. However the Volvo was obviously already speeding.
Sullivan - I've seen you posting the same thing a few times. But here's the thing. Whether you're right on the technicality of the turn into lane or not doesn't actually matter. Because no, the tailgater is NOT justified in their behaviour. Not under ANY circumstance. There are no exceptions to this. Hope that's clear enough.
Hi Here in the UK we have to normally follow into the traffic in the appropriate lane. That is the lane normally to the left, however the traffic works and roundabout dictates here which lane he adopted. However, the driver to the rear clearly was speeding and being aggressive to a clearly defined and marked driving school?? In this country it is illegal to harass someone in there work place and road rage is a court appearance. How arrogant must he be, he tried to tell a DRIVING INSTRUCTOR HOW TO DRIVE....???? Lol
Not only that but a D2 Momentum (boggo spec) 1.6 diesel, that’s likely leased because the missus wanted a flash car. I wonder what it is about these cars that makes people suddenly have a high horse?
and its also on lease as you can hippoleasing.co.uk on the reg in tiny writing, trying to act big in his 25£ a week car with his skinny scruffy smack head of a bird, looooooooooooooool
You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed off the Volvo
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passing_lane th-cam.com/video/4oqfodY2Lz0/w-d-xo.html Educate yourselves! A specific statue is going to matter where you live, but if you would just learn what a passing lane is and how its used it wouldn't matter if it is law or just curiosity.
I don't understand...the hard man in the Volvo has threatened with violence on the video. Fine the police officer hasn't seen that, but then both the man and the woman threaten the driver again, in front of the police officer. Is that legal? Why are they not arrested on the spot for threatening bodily harm?
Because the law has context. It wasn't a real threat, it was just spur of the moment anger. And what would happen? the copper would have to arrest 2 people, have someone come collect their car, take them back to the station, fill in a tonne of paperwork, probably end up giving them a warning because they would say the driving instructor provoked them, at most give them a small fine, and then move on. Really not worth the hassle. Also a comment to the American nut job. Look up motorbike street races in the USA. The polcie deliberately dont chase them because its too much effort and too dangerous, so they literally just allow these bike races to happen rather than do anything.
relaxesonsand remember, if a person does it, their channel just gets demonitised, but if a pug does it, then the owner get sentences to prison time. Good to see we are tackling the real crimes
As you mentioned, you were unusually lucky to encounter a police vehicle. The over-emphasis on speed cameras, rather than traffic cops in cars looking at *how* people drive, at any speed, has left our roads increasingly lethal, or stressful, to drive on. Most of the near misses or accidents I’ve witnessed have been drivers well inside the speed limit, but driving appallingly, risking their own and others lives.
The best way to deal with drivers like this is to find out who their insurer is and draw attention to the video. Karma can be served up in multiple ways (and insurers don't like covering gobshite drivers who're likely to increase their costs)
Tail-gaters! I hate them. I once had a guy who was so impatient he overtook me, and as soon as he got in front of me, he turned down a left side street - all he had to do was wait a few seconds.
I don't change my driving style for anyone, they can sit on my rear bumper if they like as they are the ones committing an offence by tailgating. When it is safe to do so I will let them by.
Iv been driving in Birmingham for 12 years and its apart of m job. Last year, 6 people died because of a guy doing 100 in a 40, high on drugs. I hate people that speed. if you feel the need to speed, do it when nobody else is around...into a tree.
Yes I hate people that speed too. There's no need for It, as the speed limit is there for a reason. People overtake with literally seconds to spare until they're meeting oncoming traffic, or they just pull out in front of you without even looking or acknowledging your existence on the road!! Even as a pedestrian, I've had a few hairy moments whilst crossing at traffic lights, when people decide to run red lights, or don't give way to people on a crossing.
This is why I carry pepper spray. When someone comes up to the window, all I have to do is show it to them. It's only happened twice in 40 years of driving, but it worked both times.
When I was learning to drive with my uncle, he always said ignore thise behind you, if they wanted to be in front of you they should have got out of bed earlier, I still take that view today and I am in my mid 50s.
we need re-tests every 5 years along with eyesight & medical tests, that would help clear the roads , and create jobs for instructors and examiners. yes i was an ADI 25 years ago until i was attacked by a fella as in the video (he got 2 years) and frightened my learner so much she has never driven since , a dash cam would have been a great help back then.
New subscriber, loving the reminders it’s a long time since I passed my test, it troubles me that more and more people seem to be getting aggressive like this and impatient, of many irritations is the assumption that when following slow vehicles the vehicle behind me seems to think they have a greater right to overtake the slow vehicle (and therefore also me) first - when this does not occur they then continue to overtake me putting themselves and others at risk then brake check - why, I don’t have a particularly slow car, and I can only do the speed limit for that road, or am I missing something.
Actually had a van try to ram me off the road today all because I was sticking to the 30mph speed limit. I had my two young children in the car and my wife. I suffer from PTSD from military service and honestly I sometimes wish I have never put my life on the line for the people of this country when this is how they act!
You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed of the Volvo.
@stationcolossus I never said overtaking lane, I mean any lane in general. You have to turn into the closest one, than use your signals to merge into the next lane.
Always bugs me when i see people tailgating learners. They were learners once too! They need to remember that! I always give learners tons of space, and then i get tailgated! lol. I don't care though. I had one lesson and passed my test in a 300BHP Nissan ZX so i'm not thinking "i struggled once too so i'll give them room" - i just know that most people don't have a natural talent for driving and need to learn at their own pace. But people are so impatient these days!
That's the thing. Every person like this are well below the average IQ, they have absolutely no sympathy and their memory is entirely biased. They completely forget they went through learning too, and now they live in the relative time and bubble of "me, me, me" - absolute scum of society.
People who bully learner drivers are losers who have nothing going on in their lives, and they get to feel a momentary sense of power by bullying a learner because here finally is someone that they are better than at something.
- A guy his age and personality, no doubt started off thieving Nissan Micra's and ford escorts in the 80s an 90's to practice their driving in. Then due to driving tests being slack back then, all he had to do for a Theory Test was a show an tell book, answer like 10 road signs an its a pass. Practical Test - Move the car at the road speeds, Park with like maybe 4 cars on the entire street an it's a pass. Not like today with 2 an 3 cars to one house layered across housing estates, with only inches apart... Nothing like what it is today to learn to drive an i have 5 years exp in a car and 7 years exp on a motorbike. No points, No tickets (parking or otherwise) Never been pulled an never gave them a reason too.
A few years ago, I had an extremely aggressive tailgater on my ass, on a country road, with no one else on it. I put on my turn signal and pulled completely off the side of the road. This ass hole that looked like Hulk Hogan, passed me up, then actually cut directly in front of me, blocking me in, got out of his pickup truck, and started to run aggressively toward my driver's side window. The window happened to already be lowered, and just when he got to my window, I pulled out my fully loaded Ruger Redhawk 44 Magnum revolver, and I said, surprise mother fucker. You should have seen the look on his face. All he said was "oh shit". I held him at gun point, and walked him to his truck, then made him hand over his keys. I threw them as far as I could into the bushes. Then I made him start walking the opposite direction of my vehicle. After he was about 200 feet from me, I got into my truck, backed up some so I could drive around his truck, then I hauled ass away from there. I just wanted to get the hell out of there fast, and I did. I never got the police involved, but I probably should have. I do believe having my gun had saved me that day. I have no ideal why he was even tailgating me? I was already going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. What an asshole he was. I'll bet he will think twice before he tailgates someone again. Luckily, I was in a few counties over from where I live, so it's very unlikely he will ever find me. I doubt if he noticed the county name on my plate tag. Hopefully not. Anyhow, my point is, always carry a firearm with you at all times.
@@HO-bndk , oh no, not another liberal. I can tell you, my experience that day was very real. What the hell makes you think it wasn't. I thought he was going to kill me, so I had no choice but to brandish my firearm.
@@flumpaustin1994 I don't know if he had a weapon or not, but if he did, he sure didn't beat me to the draw. Even if he had a gun and pulled it out first, at least I still would have had a fighting chance.
“It was near luck that he passed me” Ashley, that’s on lower lane and there is a police station 200 yards down that road. Called “lower lane police station” 😂
The way he indicated as soon as your pupil indicated. Why intimidate? he had the whole road, he could've overtook, he had more than enough space and time to do that safely!
You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed off the Volvo
Can you share a link to that, because if your intending to turn left soon, then you have to aim for the furthest lane, because otherwise you either have to cut people up or miss your turning point. Either way, I suppose people turning onto main roads who need to turn left are never right in your eyes?
when you pulled out in front of him, which lane are you aiming for? cause it looks like the left, and then whilst making the decision, you see the roadworks and then sit across 2 lanes... at this point he is coming up behind you. i don't condone his actions, but i can understand why he would get upset when someone pulls out in front, and then covers 2 lanes...
Yeah gtf our the way. He probably interpreted it as” oh here comes someone in a car that’s possibly nicer than mine, at speed, I better get in front of them because we can’t have that” move. Which is just a pathetic move that i see all the time.
Slightly tricky to get the gauge on, but I've measured and timed it out and I'd be confident to say he was doing 60 in a 40, probably more when you first entered the road. And he was about 120m back and would have been even further back when he first spotted you (if paying attention). How he can then get angry is bonkers.
Well done for acting professionally and keeping calm all the way through, I have been driving professionally for over thirty years and have learned to never rise to these fools even when they cut me up I will just pull back knowing they will meet someone as daft as them around the corner, ahhh the joys of motoring 😂🤣
This issue doesn't just affect driving instructors. Anyone who complies with the rules of the road and are prone to being tailgated, intimidated and abused. Getting involved in verbals and gestures doesn't help and does'nt solve anything. The way I deal with it is just to pull over and let them go their way. You tend to catch them at the next set of lights anyway!
I use the roads to earn my living. See that sort of thing every week. People have no patience. We all make driving mistakes. Forgive people! its simple. Stay safe out there.
Hi Ashly I’m a hgv driver and I was a driving instructor for fifth teen years in London, had this sort of behavior all the time ,one of the main reasons I gave it up! No dash cam back in my day!.got them now and wouldn’t be without it! Fair play to you. You were lucky the copper was around. The bird was probably late for the dentist then thought screw it, She clearly doesn't have a tooth left in her head from all the crystal she's doing.
I drive a 50 year old Land Rover. My problems are with tailgaters and those that speed up behind me and start hitting the horn and flashing me for not having the acceleration they have. That and those who don’t have right of way yet try intimidate younger and less experienced drivers into reversing in a position they aren’t comfortable with.
Exactly, very true, they get all aggressive behind us in their fast beamers or mercs or riced out shitboxes. Yet fail to remember the fact that my landy weighs probably 3 times what their car does, has a solid towball like yours, two big metal handles sticking out on the crossmember and on the front military bullbars. Don't risk your life running high speeds up behind a vehicle like that. I do enjoy it when the chavs in their "suped" corsas and fiestas or BMWs don't give me right of way when it's legally mine. Just crawl towards them slowly. They'll change their mind. Really pisses me off watching that kind of driver mess with learners though.
Holding a driving licence is a right that is earned and then should be considered a privilege, idiots like that should be deprived of that right and leave the roads for decent folk.
Nowadays people getting mad if you keep within the speed limit .. really I feel the pressure to drive faster.
I do the opposite, drive slower, it's just a matter of safety.
Don't feel pressured, those people can easily overtake you and drive as fast as they want. Speed limit is not an option it's for safety reasons
LittleSkyful then keep right and ignore the idiots who are too stupid to pass.

I hate when your going the speed limit and under in my case, and these assholes just over take you. So many people break the speed limit, it’s not ok!!
The flagging down of that copper made my day. Brilliant
Karma

So they're speeding because they're in a hurry to get somewhere but have the time to follow, harass and tailgate a learner driver until they're told off by the police? Curiouser and curiouser.
And all they would have achieved if they had overtaken would be one clear further ahead in the heavy traffic. These people have the vote...
Literally everyone speeds 10 mph over the speed limit even when not in a hurry and I’m just like WHAT IS THE POINT
As an American, it's appalling to hear other countries have to deal with bad drivers, too.
And the time saved is negligible the faster you are going.
Example speeds with 10mph difference
30mph - 1 mile (00:02:00)
40mph - 1 mile (00:01:40)
20 seconds faster (16.67% faster)
30mph - 10 miles (00:20:00)
40mph - 10 miles (00:15:00)
5 minutes faster (25% faster)
70mph - 100 miles (01:25:43)
80mph - 100 miles (01:15:00)
10 minutes faster (12.5% faster)
So at 70-80mph you break the law to get there 12.5% faster while using 16% more fuel, you are paying more in fuel to save time while increasing the risk of crashing and also being caught speeding.

Because it was a learner car and it was easy pickings, the guy is a coward and would've never done that in another situation. That's my guess.
Hope you've passed and not had too much hassle on the roads since 🙏 I have my test in April 😅

The learner car was travelling at the speed limit.
johno4521 so?
I drive like somebody from the third world, that is to say, very fast, all the time. When I see slower moving traffic ahead I get into the passing lane before I even get anywhere near them. Some people have to get right up your ass and tailgate for awhile before they figure out you are going slower than they want to go and the thing to do is to go around.
I was approaching a roundabout and one of those drivers who think they are sports drivers came speeding down and almost cut me up. your forehead is the reason you suck at driving
I drive fast, but i don't lose my temper if someone's driving slow, people like this make us look like assholes. If he really wanted to go that fast, he should've just overtaken him, he had the space and time.
And 7 years later it’s even worse.
His IQ is probably the same as the temperature in the Volvo.
So dangerous.
the not indicating boils my blood, stupidity at its best.
I’m a ‘A’ grade Driving instructor of some 28 years, I feel your pain my friend... everyday ☹️
Only getting worse I think! Many thanks, Ashley.
Lol
this is why we need more police on the streets.
A hard man in a volvo LMAO 😂🤣
1ninjatiger yea he needs a drug dealer BMW car to pull off
I quite like Volvos...but I'm not a hard man.

You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed off the Volvo
"By law"; I'd love to know which law and section you're referring to Sullivan Rivers as I don't recall that ever being a thing.

Man, respect to you. You did literally everything right. 👍
I don't understand...the hard man in the Volvo has threatened with violence on the video. Fine the police officer hasn't seen that, but then both the man and the woman threaten the driver again, in front of the police officer. Is that legal? Why are they not arrested on the spot for threatening bodily harm?
You don't need to shoot someone to put handcuffs on them.
guns, the american answer to everything

I like that he was so urked that you held him up by seconds that he ended up wasting like 10 minutes getting into a pointless argument over it.
If you're an agressive person, seek help and don't take it out on other drivers. Thank you.
Absolutely well sead they both need help befoure it's to late
I wish there were more police about so people could flag then down in these situations. Well dealt with.
No need to. If you submit footage like this to the police within 72 hours, they can follow it up.
Stuart Fisher Doesn't really help if you've had a violent altercation with a roadrager. Police can only help de-escalate when they are present.
is Jack the spastic in the video? lol
The police are all out catching burglars and doing such a great job at it
Nah.
Deal with it yourself.
Quite right.
I remember that accident it was so horrible, all for some silly boy trying to look cool infront of his mates.
Great job and handled like a responsible adult, they looked like trash and would probably have done something if not for you flagging down the cop.
Yikes, she sounds even worse than she looks.

You didn't realize the guy recording broke the law by turning into the furthest lane over?. By law he has to turn into the closest lane, which is what pissed of the Volvo.
Absolutely incorrect. You are not at all required by law to turn into the overtaking lane.
@stationcolossus I never said overtaking lane, I mean any lane in general. You have to turn into the closest one, than use your signals to merge into the next lane.
Sullivan Rivers It is an overtaking lane in this case.
A classic case of human stupidity. No wonder aliens are terrified of us. We're just not ready for contact yet and we probably never will be.
I've been driving since 1984 and there has always been muppets.
Didn't realize chavs drove volvos
They do when they nick em
That's what I was thinking.
Nobody in their right mind would take up their time following a learner car to shout abuse.
best to ignore and pull over ,let em go unless you are looking for fight

“It was near luck that he passed me”
Ashley, that’s on lower lane and there is a police station 200 yards down that road.
I am talking about the right turn he made
Sullivan Rivers Which rule in the Highway Code are you referring to?
Sullivan Rivers you realise he took the middle lane as the nearside lane was closed
when you pulled out in front of him, which lane are you aiming for? cause it looks like the left, and then whilst making the decision, you see the roadworks and then sit across 2 lanes... at this point he is coming up behind you. i don't condone his actions, but i can understand why he would get upset when someone pulls out in front, and then covers 2 lanes...
Yeah gtf our the way. He probably interpreted it as” oh here comes someone in a car that’s possibly nicer than mine, at speed, I better get in front of them because we can’t have that” move. Which is just a pathetic move that i see all the time.
Uncouth Rapscallion I guess you do that too. So they’ve got a nicer car than you and they probably don’t deserve it. So? Get over it lol
Slightly tricky to get the gauge on, but I've measured and timed it out and I'd be confident to say he was doing 60 in a 40, probably more when you first entered the road. And he was about 120m back and would have been even further back when he first spotted you (if paying attention). How he can then get angry is bonkers.
Thats why I carry baseball stick with me for bullyboys like him. They always turn back and walk away
You tend to catch them at the next set of lights anyway!
next time you want to talk to a terrible/idiot driver - just say excuse me your L plates have fallen off and drive off, drives them mad lol
This is very common. There are lots of people like this around.
I'm trying every trick in the book to get on Ashleys site. Today I drove at 48mph from LIverpool to Manchester in the middle lane..so fingers crossed.

Hi Ashly I’m a hgv driver and I was a driving instructor for fifth teen years in London, had this sort of behavior all the time ,one of the main reasons I gave it up! No dash cam back in my day!.got them now and wouldn’t be without it! Sad to say if I recorded what happens to me when I’m at work it could go on for hours, bye the way does your Tesla come with indicators? Seems the ones I come across don’t!.stay safe and keep up the good work.
Fair play to you. You were lucky the copper was around. The bird was probably late for the dentist then thought screw it, She clearly doesn't have a tooth left in her head from all the crystal she's doing.
Fs the guy had about 2 hours to react to you pulling onto the middle lane. Clearly just wanted a fight
"What's the speed limit down there" Brilliant.
Angry individuals like this cant handle you being polite to them-they want an arguement-blow them a kiss and watch them explode
Yes ,or blow them a raspberry !!!
