And her weapon is the violin. It takes only 0.2 seconds before sound waves come out from the moment she takes the position. The number of people she's felled is countless. - Okazaki Tomoya
TerryDactyl Totally agree! That's honestly my only problem with after story that a lot of main characters from season 1 were just shoved into the background and rarely appeared. If Kotomi and the others had featured more then after story would have been perfect.
“Oh, well if it isn’t Tomoya-kun.” *5 seconds later* “It wasn’t funny...?” “Don’t make such a sad face.” “What was that about, Kyou?” “SHHHH! We need to keep her distracted so she doesn’t touch that violin again.”
Clannad is proclaimed to my standards as the most uplifting, elegant animation to have ever been created, the story and contrast of the amazing and virtuous characters has erupted me in amazement. The audio is just breathtaking, the music gives such a large hint of satisfaction to the listeners, yet with a hint of mellowness in needed areas of the animation. In the end this animation has erected it self to my top animations which is very unlikely to my standards. I will cherish Clannad forever.
Kotomi nearly made me faint from cuteness overload when she first did her little introduction... Y'know, that whole spiel when she points at herself and goes "Kotomi. You spell Kotomi with three hiragana. When you speak to me, call me Kotomi-chan." Dammit, I'm getting woozy just thinking about it...
The music in Clannad, Kanon and air are all incredible. But this one stands out to me simply because it suits the character so well that I honestly can't think of the character without hearing the theme or I can't hear the theme without thinking of the character. As I said the music in all of keys stuff is amazing but this one's really special.
I kinda wish there was at least an OVA for Tomoya x Kotomi where it shows them as a romantic couple. I still love Tomoya x Nagisa. Would be my two favorite along with Kyou x Tomoya.
play the VN, it has all the girls as romantic paths! just remember to not fuck up on Kyou (her path has two early/mid game questions that lead to Dead Ends hours later after the choices!)
Ya'll... I got it. The key to understanding Kotomi is this song. SPOILERS The name of the song is "Etude Pour Les Petite Supercordes" which translates in English to "Practice for small superstrings" An etude is a small musical piece that is meant to either train musical skills or demonstrate proficiency with these musical skills (the idea being, you start with the piece and suck at it, but practice it long enough that you master it and can then use those skills fluidly in other musical pieces). Tomoya stops Kotomi from cutting out a page of a book in a book store. We know that Kotomi is looking for passages that reference her parents. The books she is looking at which reference her parents? Quantum physics. This leads me to believe that Kotomi's parents were working on a superstring theory (I don't believe that the show ever explicitly states what theory her parents were working on, just that the theory was incredibly beneficial to humans). However, the show tells us that Kotomi's parent's biggest accomplishment is their daughter, and her name means "beautiful harp music." Also, include the dichotomy between Tomoya and Kotomi: one cuts class because she is a genius, the other cuts class because he is a delinquent, but the term "genius" is relative. Kotomi states that she needs to study hard to be a splendid person, Tomoya says sure and seems doubtful that academic intellect directly correlates to an individual's worth. Kotomi is a good at book learning, Tomoya says he's good at helping people. No matter. The disparity between the two led them to a point where they could pursue their friendship (twice). Essentially the show is stating that you can live your whole life trying to prove the beauty of the world, but we can never get it exact (insert Bayesian Probability here). Perhaps there is something more to life than what we can see and measure. Being a good person and having a happy life has nothing to do with how many trophies and accomplishments you have, it's measured in the person you are and the people you meet, and how you help each other along the way. It doesn't matter that Kotomi sucks at violin, what matters is that she loves it and it makes her happy. What matters is she has the guts to try it in the first place. What matters is that she has friends that believe in her and encourage her to pursue a thing she loves, even if she's not the greatest with it at the start. Finally, this song is a masterpiece. It has two parts for me. Explicitly happy and chimey, and things that are more beautiful and drawn out. The drawn out part seems to elude me, and since it's a looping piece I keep listening more and more. The drawn out parts range from happy, to sad, to uncertain, to haunting. It's hard to know where the song stops and starts. It's 4 minutes but it feels longer a lot of the time. But I love it, and I can't seem to stop listening to it. And that, my friends, is the beauty of Clannad. We are all a Big Dango Family. Much love to you all, and keep pursuing your art/science/dream, whatever it might be
Just masterpieces can make this, all the details in the anime are truly well calculated, perhaps, yes, because of a visual novel, but it doesn´t means it is a masterpiece just because Clannad has one. I mean, when something is made with passion and love, you can feel it, you know it, Clannad has a lot of these details that just makes it brilliant. I mean, even the instruments this music is made you can easyly remeber Kotomi, that viola, that violin... amazing.
Her past is actually similar to my best friend's story. Her parents were traveling across the world while she was staying with her grandma but then her parents died in a plane crash...no one told her until she noticed her parents had been gone too long. Poor girl. xx
TheCassiusTain yeah, but unfortunately I live in Europe so the only way I can play it is on an emulator (otherwise I'd have to buy a converter so I can play US games on my Super NES PAL) More proof that Europe was fucked over when it comes to international releases XD
frankstle22 I know this problem very well, my friend, as I too had to emulate this game. I ove being european, but when it comes to software and Games we lack a lot of good stuff
TheCassiusTain I know right! We never got the game until it was released on the virtual console a decade and a half after its release! In fact, we didn't even get Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 in Murica) until it was ported to PlayStation in 2002, three years after its North American PlayStation release. I think the only classic Square RPG we got in Europe was Secret of Mana, but even that was released over a year after it's Japanese and North American release. I really hope to get that game, even though its kind of rare :/
Kotomi is my favorite character of Clannad, and I think her storyline is the best one. But, I also just have a thing for soft spoken, intelligent girls, so of course I love her! Plus, she's so cute♥ Plus, this is really nice background music. I just love it!
Actually, this is her playing..... Remember when it cuts back into scenes where she played violin as a child? She actually played really good back then, dunno what happened when she grew up though..
Always wondered why the most interesting character with the most tragic back story wasn't used more. Still one of the best anime I have ever watched though in terms of storytelling and atmosphere. Great animation too.
Reading comments that shower love on Kotomi while listening to this otherworldly fantasy of a theme makes me fall in love with Kotomi's character even though I've watched only 30 minutes.
The fact her theme is played with a violin makes everything so ironic (it would sound different if Kotomi was playing the theme). At the sametime, the theme matches her perfectly.
I only vaguely remember her character, something about a genius loner orphan with a thing for teddy bears. But for some reason I was able to remember the exact tune tonight after having not heard it for a good ten years. Heh
1) he collected them from good things happening throughout his highschool life and after highschool life. 3) he has memories and that is shown in a special that reviews everything that happened 2) The lights just happened and probably the girl used them
this music is as good as she plays the violin, i wish there was a full episode of her playing the violin, her tunes are so....unique, yeh thats the word.
And her weapon is the violin. It takes only 0.2 seconds for the sound waves to travel after she takes up her position. The number of people she's felled is countless.
Kanon and Clannad are so emotionally moving partially because of the music. Looking back now, it doesn't make sense to get so emotional over a guy not being able to play Basketball yet it happened anyway. =D
God, when I see her in game I stop reading to listen, and even then I'm back on YT listening to this beautiful BGM. I love all the Clannad girls' themes so much.
And her weapon is the violin. It takes only 0.2 seconds before sound waves come out from the moment she takes the position. The number of people she's felled is countless.

I'm playing the VN, and just remembering the anime... they were pretty accurate for their portrayal of the scenes.
Almost every line in the VN she saya makes me freak out how adorable she is lol. love this theme too, it really suits her.

The music in Clannad, Kanon and air are all incredible. This is an actual story. "The Dandelion Girl" about a man who finds a time traveller and falls in love with her.

Favorite character and favorite theme in the whole show
Her past is actually similar to my best friend's story. Her parents were traveling across the world while she was staying with her grandma but then her parents died in a plane crash...no one told her until she noticed her parents had been gone too long. Poor girl. xx
I like this theme especially out of all the amazing clannad themes...maybe because it reminds me of the theme from Chrono trigger, middle age
Do you mean Yearnings of Wind, the song that plays in the over world? Because I was thinking exactly the same ^_^
frankstle22 yeah thats the theme I was thinking of ^^ glad to meet another person who has played this gem
TheCassiusTain yeah, but unfortunately I live in Europe so the only way I can play it is on an emulator (otherwise I'd have to buy a converter so I can play US games on my Super NES PAL) More proof that Europe was fucked over when it comes to international releases XD

Oh, that's actually pretty cool
Hey! You were listening to some study music and I saw your comment about this song so I could study. Thanks for introducing me to the song. :)
Her route in the game is amazing!
I hope to play the game someday, see all the things that didn't make it into the anime.
@@Vocalovely it is amazing you will not regret it in the slightest

Kinda ironic how her theme has violin in it when she cant play it at all! :D
Actually, this is her playing.....
Remember when it cuts back into scenes where she played violin as a child?
She actually played really good back then, dunno what happened when she grew up though..
Cecilia Chan I know she played as a child, but I don't remember her playing this song, or being this good. Looks like I need to watch it again.
Cecilia Chan most likely trauma and not wanting to practice anything that she had done beforehand
actually if you listened when she was a kid she wasn't half bad. it's the violin and her PTSD that probably caused her to lose that ability.
@@Atamosk-bu7zt How do you know she has PTSD?

Really like this theme Sounds so nostalgic
Her backstory made me cry buckets!
Listening to this, while doing homework. So peaceful
Y'know, this does sound a lot like Zelda.... I don't know why exactly.

it sounds french for me,hehe...but zelda?...fuko sounds a little bit like zelda~

mehhh fine,nya...but only the beginning part~ or its a rly famous and rich house...maybe the living room from princess zelda?

I adore Kotomi. Her shyness and her intelligence and well her violin skills may not be the best but its noticeable that she tries.
