    I spend at least 90-130$ on meats and dairy products (along side non vegan snacks n breads etc.) in a shopping trip for my husband, 4 year old and myself. Ive been overloading myself with meat industry documentary style videos and my new goal is to go vegan. I know it will be odd feeling at first but i believe in the cause and it also looks like it will takes loads of my bank accounts back and my conscience! Lol thank you for all these videos i really take them seriously

      +Jane Doe In your country its cheaper, don't assume its the same for everyone else. Fruits and veg can be up to 19 dollars a pound where i live, Nuts are like 25 bucks for a small cannister, buying by the pound is even more expensive. When i lived in the US i was veg... now that i have moved home i simply cannot afford to eat that way. Plain and simple. When she said pasta for a few cents... I cant even get one package of pasta for less than 5 dollars here.

    I noticed when. I stopped eating cheese. and dairy milk. my skin started to look better. I love cheese. but I just don't buy it. it can get pricey .. I don't eat mayo or cream cheese either.. they do have vegan yogurt.. witch isn't bad. ;) it's taking me some time, to avoid the meat counter. but I do pass it. and I'm not craving meat witch is awesome. :) I have supportive parents. my brother's tease me . but I just brush it off. plus, I started working out. and feel allot better. if you have chronic pain like arthritis ,or what not. dairy and meat flares it up. and working out helps. thanks for great video's.

But it seems like we're a long way away from change (I'm an animal lover and it took me 25 years to go vegan). You always seem so positive! How do you not feel disheartened?

    also it's impossible here to find vegan cheese and stuff in simple grocery stores, and where you can them they are INSANELY expensive. i'll stick to simple stuff for now

      @CheapLazyVegan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jan Sawall Hi Jan, I do try to reduce my waste as much as possible. when I order groceries online though, i guess I can't control much! I usually try not to get a plastic bag when I go to the grocery store, and instead bring my own. I also refill my waterbottle instead of buying plastic water bottles. little things like that.. not sure what else I can really do! Have you been reducing plastic? :)

    • @janolesawallisch3624
      @janolesawallisch3624 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just recently come into awareness of how much unnecessary plastic I actually use and so I am trying to reduce it. Of course bringing my own bag to the grocery store and trying not to pick the pre-packaged fruits and veggies even though those are pretty convenient 🙈But yeah if you're ordering online you really don't get to have much say in that I guess :/ The glass bottle is also really good, I'm gonna get one soon as well! :)

    • @CheapLazyVegan
      @CheapLazyVegan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Urszula Bajcer I don't know - I've heard mixed reviews about organic stuff... some people say it barely makes a difference, some people say it can kill you lol. I'm not sure what my opinion is on buying organic. I guess I need to do more research. it's just such a pain when organic is like 3x or 4x more costly than regular price lol. I guess I'm not as health conscious as I should be lollll

    What do you make with green/brown lentils? I'm trying to eat more beans and lentils, and my 6 year old is getting tired of beans and rice lol. I do make spaghetti and put red lentils in it, last time I used chickpeas instead (which my 10 month old LOVED) but my 6 year old refused to eat it because there were chickpeas in it. Need more meal ideas with beans and lentils :)

    • @CheapLazyVegan
      @CheapLazyVegan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Melissa Tee try a nut or bean & lentil loaf! Oh She Glows has a great recipe on her blog if you search on google =) they are so delicious! i also like to put them in chili and I also just throw in red split lentils into various dishes to thicken them up - pasta sauce, chili, stew, curry, etc.. =)

      +Cheap Lazy Vegan I love OhSheGlows :) fortunately my daughter will eat beans and lentils in soup and loves OSG spiced red lentil, tomato and kale soup. I make black bean and chickpea burgers and she refuses to eat them (even though she likes black beans) so not sure how the loaf would work but I will definitely try it lol. Thanks :)

    I feel like the food is much cheaper when you live than in the US.
    1 pound is 1.43 USD. So that spaghetti for $1.50? It would usually be closer to $3 (and I shop at the discounted, surplus, close-to-the-expiration-date grocery outlet).
    With strictly currency conversion, that would cost $95 here.

    • @CheapLazyVegan
      @CheapLazyVegan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      These larger bags of lentils are typically from the "world food" sections so I reckon availability is based on your region and the size of the store. I buy a 5kg bag of lentils for £6 or £7 from my local Tesco superstore in Luton which is an ethnically diverse town.

Plus delivery can be super cheap. I think it depends on where you live, but London is a good place for online grocery shopping =D

      +watchtheskies hmm I'm from Canada so I'll compare to Canada haha in Canada, the food prices have gone up a lot because of the lower Canadian dollar right now :( imported items are a lot more expensive because it costs much more to import. Plus i think produce is more expensive in canada in general especially in the winter because it's so cold so we have to import everything!

    Bought that violife cheese the other day to try as a way to help me to transition to vegan (I'm a cheese addict) but I just found it so gross... Couldn't even eat it when it was hidden in various meals which is annoying :( now I've just got a whole block at the back of my fridge which I don't know what do with!

    • @CheapLazyVegan
      @CheapLazyVegan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Poppy don't give up! there are tons of other vegan cheeses that are delish. I definitely wouldn't say the violife is the best I've tried. Also, the cheese addict thing, like the above comment mentioned, you'll probably stop craving it after a while once the addiction has worn off. I thought I could never stop eating cheese, and it only took me like a few weeks til i stopped craving it

      @grainnemckeown1681 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Poppy I did not like violife when I had it raw because I found the texture kinda plastically but I think that it is quite nice melted. Like in a grilled cheese or over pasta or something.

      When I first went vegan this happened to me, but I found that it was because I was eating to many nuts, grains ect; but when I switched nuts for more fruit and grains with more vegetables it helped. I hope this helps you!
