    This part two of the video about improving a simple FET regenerative receiver ( or at least trying to ). We started with the classic N1TEV regenerative receiver schematic in order to modify it hoping for a smaller but slightly better version 100% made with transistors.

    Great! We are waiting for the final version and the final versión of the pcb. Thanks a lot.

      Always a pleasure. I hope by the end of next week I will have the PCB in hands so I can film the new video of the final version. Until then I have time to play a little and make little adjustments that hopefully it will make it perform as I wish. 73, YO6DXE

    Excellent reception,think it's more better now ,and let's see if there any update version coming

      It was pretty bad because of the LED light.. is actually even better. But next time... ohhhh next time it will sound really nice. I love that is really sensitive... very useful when is weak propagation. In normal conditions I have to lower the RF gain a lot... that allows me to also raise it a lot too when the conditions are not so great. I can't wait to finish it. I got a lot of headaches because of the modifications hahaha... but at the end it will be worth it. I go sleep... I haven't slept since yesterday so I could finish the video on time. 73, YO6DXE.

      Ohhh I totally forgot about the Easter. Here we celebrate it a little later. I usually celebrate both haha... once with my German and Hungarian friends and then again the family one haha. Happy Easter to you as well and have a fantastic week. I am really tired now... but we talk soon a little more about the receiver. 73, YO6DXE.

    Check what type of capacitors you are using. For frequency sensitive paret of the circuit such as filters oscillators etc you should only use cog or np0 types if you have any mica caps they are even better. Other. Caps do not perform very well are rf. They tend to drift and their value can vary +- 30% or more I found that out the hard way when making a couple of band ;ass filters which would not fit with the design math
    As a temp measure fit a second pot from the wiper of the existing regen control to ground and take the regen voltage from the wiper of the new pot. Acts like a bandspread until you can source a multi turn pot or change to varicap
    Remember to resolve ssb you advance the regen until it just oscillates then vary the main tuning to resolve the upper or lower side and

      Thanks so much Andy. Ohhh for this test version I am using any capacitor that comes to my hand haha. At this point I don't care much about stability, but in the final version... ohh I will. Silver mica are good indeed, but for some reason I fount the np0 much better... and also a lot cheaper. I will need to get some more as now I have lots of them, but wrong values... and I don't want to end up with a bunch of "series" or "parallel" to make up one missing value.
      On the multurn pot... I have a few more yes... so I will use a second one I think. But I will try to play with the 1M resistor too as I think that may be a little cheaper for the people that want to build it... at least that is the entire idea for me... to make something nice that is worth building. But it's a really good idea so I noted that down for the future in case I don't have a multiturn pot on hand hehe. Thanks so much again and have an amazing week. 73, YO6DXE.

    Try using LEDS or 1N4001 AS VARACTORS ,Ive heard they can work well for fine tuning.
    I was have thoughts of smd inductors with mutual coupling idea close to each other,hmmm
    Also ive seen xtal controlled super regen.
    Love progress so far.

      Thanks so much Rob. I tried LEDs... not bad at all... but 1N4001 to 1N4007 work great even for main tuning. With one 1N4004 I think you can get about 50pF. I use these in the Sputnik receiver. Interesting idea with the SMD inductors... that would be fun if it works 😁. Let me know if you ever try. Back to this receiver... I am still making minor adjustments, but so far it sounds great... way better than in this video. 73 and have a fantastic weeked, YO6DXE.

    Recomanda este sa folosesti rezistente metal oxid, in parte de RF , cele cu carbon se comporta ca o bobina.
    Am vazut ca in 90% cazuri ai folosit metal oxid.

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Cam asa ar trebui da. Apoi majoritatea componentelor sunt recuperate asa ca folosesc ce imi pica la mana ( hi ). Intre timp am cumparat si eu o gramada de componente pana sa aflu ca in RF e un pic altfel si na, acum daca le am musai sa le folosesc.

    Very good I love simple receivers I have to build this one

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't wait to finish it and see how well it performs at the end comparing with the original version. No doubt though that a big coil and a proper variable capacitor can't be defeated ... but at least if I can get as close to that with a varicap and toroid I am happy 😁😁. 73 David, YO6DXE.

    Great video! Thanks a lot! What band tuned at the end of video, when lights turned off? Is it 20m?

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you as well. I am working now on part three of the mini series. I wanted to post it today but I have some emergencies to take care of so probably tomorrow or the day after. Yes it was the 20m band. It tunes now from somewhere a little over 6MHz to about 14.5MHz. I am still dealing a little with the regen control as I want the SSB and CW signals sound great on all bands available. Is a little tricky when covering so much with just one coil.

    Not good tuning

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No not at all... not yet 😁. I am slowly getting there and you will love the final version. This was just a test after making the changes from the big coil and the variable capacitors to the new schematic. With a little patience and some fine tuning I finally got it to work as I please... and it works waaaaaay better now. More in the next part on this mini series. 73, YO6DXE.

    No need to worry about wasted 1.5 days.
    I wasted about 5 years on similar thing and it still does not work in a way I want it to.

      Hahaha... I hear you. I spent an year trying to improve the Sputnik regen but I was lucky and it worked... I am nearly there with this one too... but just because of the one year I spent with the other one. So hopefully after 15 years you get to build the one you always wanted 😁😁. Fingers crossed... 73, YO6DXE
