  • As parents, we play a vital role in helping our baby's learn to play with toys. It is through playing with toys that babies develop their skills to use their hands. The position you place your baby in for play and the baby toys you give them can actually help your baby learn this vital skill. However, often we give our baby's toys which are not suitable and this hinders their baby play.
    In this video I cover ideal toy features, as well as, play positions which will develop your baby's fine motor skills and teach baby play.

    I’ve raised 2 children that are now 32 and 27 but things have changed drastically since they were babies. I’m thrilled I’ve found your page since my grandson was born in February. 💙

    My daughter refused to play with any toys until she hit 6.5m, didn’t matter how we sat her. Now that’s all she does, even discovered throwing them!

      My 4 month old son loves his oball!
      Thanks for this video, I especially liked the tip to give a bowl of toys to keep them from rolling away all the time.
      I always enjoy your videos, but I would like to give you a little tip about something that bothers me somewhat. And please don't take this the wrong way, because I do love your videos. Sometimes you look at the camera while talking, which is great, but you also very often look somewhere else, like maybe at someone who is behind the camera, but keeps switching positions. It would be much nicer if you could keep looking into the camera, cause then it feels like you're actually talking to me.
      Other than that, great content 💕

    What about a baby that likes to hold toys and things but rarely puts anything in their mouth? My baby is 8 months old and doesn’t really mouth things except for his hands. This makes our blw ventures so disheartening for me (he would play with food, squish them, bang them about and drop them on the floor). He does accept spoon feeding and if I hold a piece of food close to his lips sometimes he would eat it.
    I read about the importance of mouthing and start to really worry :( How do I help him learn to mouth things? We have plenty of toys around him and he loves to hold them and play with them already.

      Glad you find the videos helpful. You are doing an amazing job and don’t need to worry about not being able to get these toys. Honestly babies love absolutely anything including house hold items. If you have a towel you can give your little one that to touch, measuring cups or non breakable cups are also great. You can also make sensory bottles ( water bottles with water inside and rice or just rice inside). These make lots of noise and are visually entertaining for your little on. Make sure you always watch your little one when they are playing with the toys to ensure they are safe.

    My baby is 3 month 10 days old. He doesn't extend his hands to grasp the toys nor he seems to be much interested in toys. Have tried with several toys with sound, piano, ring toys, fabric toy, soft toys etc.
    What should I do?

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I find the lying a baby on your thighs helps to push their shoulders and hands forward which makes it easier to grab toys (help them lift their hands to bat and feel the toy) . You could see if your little one looks at toys when you shake them in his line of sight. If you are concerned though always take your baby to a doctor who can see your little one in person and give some specific advice.
