    The Fiskars stand-up weeder makes it easy to permanently remove invasive plants without sore knees from kneeling, back ache from bending or harsh, costly chemical herbicides that need to be applied multiple times. Just place the head over a weed, step down on the reinforced foot platform, and the four serrated, stainless-steel claws will grab the weed by the root for clean removal. Just did my lawn with 1....... it took me 1 hour to do a job that would have taken 3 to 4 hours... plus no back ache or sore knees..... this contraption is the BEES KNEES!! In other words I like it lol

    I bought one of these second hand, but its great, so convenient. After I pulled out about the 30th weed I realized I had already saved so much time that I would have spent trying to dig them out 1 by one which would have taken me hours.

      I agree! It's so easy to grab, I find myself quickly pulling a weed whenever I discovered one.

    It will leave a big hole in your lawn especially if you have a group of flat weeds.
    You need to get a bucket of top soil,
    a thin trowel & a box of grass seed.
    Fill the hole with top soil.
    Sprinkle some grass seed on it, then put more soil on top & flatten it with your foot.
    Make sure the ground is level afterwards.

    if you are using this for Dallisgrass (or even crabgrass, or vaseygrass -- those types) be careful ONLY to use it after a good rain. If you use it when the ground isn't soft, it will break 10 times out of 10. I went through 2 of them already because of this.

    • @AN-cr9cy
      @AN-cr9cy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you wet the ground first to soften it and then use the tool?

    • @Miguel_Molina
      @Miguel_Molina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AN-cr9cy you could. But you will need to wet it good, and not just the surface. Because the teeth need to penetrate in the dirt, as well as clamp through it

    I am getting one of these.
    How ever I might still put some weed killer down the hole to kill of the existing roots.
    As we all know even a little root will will try it's best.
    But a good review I liked and enjoyed how you spoke about the weed puller. 😀

    I have this. It didn't "take everything." It didn't get the tap root. That dandelion will be back with a vengeance. Helps to do it when the ground is a little wet. Improves odds of getting the long tap root out.

    Dandelion roots tend to be 6-12" deep. (I read they can be 10' deep and typically are 6-18" deep.) I realize this tool will pull a root that is longer than it's teeth, but if the root is long, I expect it would most likely snap around the point where these teeth end. Is there a similar product with longer teeth?

    • @stevenfeil7079

    Peter which one do you like better, the Fiskar or Hound Dog?
    I have read that the plastic on the Fiskar breaks.
    Pretty much nothing but good things about the Hound Dog.

    • @petervonpanda
      @petervonpanda  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Travis In Canada the Fiskar is absolutely better. It clamps down with teeth, is easier to push into dry dirt, and pulls up more root. The plastic construction concerns me a bit, but I don't treat it as rough as I do the metal Hound Dog. The dog is good for small, shallow weeds, but the Fiskar pulls up everything!

    • @riderfromthewest
      @riderfromthewest 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Travis In Canada I bought the Fiskar stand up weeder and for 20 minutes it was fantastic! However I then tried to use it on a small tree seedling no bigger than maybe a couple pencils in width and couple of feet tall and the Fiskars broke. :-( On simple weeds it's fine but on anything with a hardcore root system it has a tendency of breaking, or at least that was my experience with it. So sad because I would like to have another one if it was made out of metal. Its design is perfect, but it's just the materials that keep it from having any kind of long-term lifespan.

  • @ddeadbeat
    @ddeadbeat ปีที่แล้ว

    you need to pull out the whole root or it will grow back. you did not get the whole root in your video. I made my own and it has pulled out roots that are over a foot long.

  • @rohitbhatnagar7599
    @rohitbhatnagar7599 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do the plastic parts start getting loose and break after many years of usage?

    • @myller4142
      @myller4142 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plastic lasted well. The clamps failed on mine in 2-3 years. Perhaps some lube in blades pivot area would have made them last longer. Maybe Fiskars has updated the design. They tend to improve their products or at least work on design flaws.
      With stiff and rocky soil those are pretty useless.

  • @yupyup1562
    @yupyup1562 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have so many dandelions, those golf size balls of dirt removed for each one would leave nothing else.

    • @Nickkkk838
      @Nickkkk838 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luckily Dandelions are the easiest weed to get rid of. Just get some 2-4-d weed killer and you're set.
      It's safe on grass, so no need to worry about killing your lawn.

      FellVoice NO! Don't even try! That's how mine broke, and the seedling was only a couple of pencil's width thick and about 2 ft tall. I was using it to pull normal weeds before that and it was fantastic, but there's more plastic than metal on the Fiskars and that's a design flaw.
