Hey Aki, friendly advice when poaching an egg in the microwave: After cracking the egg, take a toothpick and carefully poke 3-4 holes in the yolk without breaking it. It will prevent the explosion you incurred in this video and lead to better results. Other than that, everything looks great! I would die for a steamed pork bun, but they are not readily available where I live.
We have a thing here in the Philippines called Toasted Siopao! You could try it as well with a toaster but I guess pan-frying it would be faster to make it crispy!
I'm Chinese and In china pan frying the bun is actually a really common way to heat up pre-made buns, it's really good especially in mornings when you have a few leftover steamed ones from last night! Also that looks delicious aki you be definitely been improving each time we see you cook!
A few recommendations if i may.. - Cutting the orange skin abit and steaming it would be better. Makes it easier to peel and you dont get the charred parts - Try air frying the bun if you want it crispy on all sides - To get poached egg, simply dunk egg into cup of boiling water and wait 3-5 mins. No need for complicated stuff - Umaibos actually a nice touch for seasoning.....i could try it myself since its definitely more original compared to say shallots, garlic or spring onions....
Pan-fried buns are truly a diamond in the rough. I’m pretty sure Japanese Chinatowns sell them? Also, adding shochu (in lieu of club soda) with green tea also works... if you’re in the mood.
I have an egg poacher for the microwave and it works fine, but it only take 40 seconds and then you let it stand for 40 after. The problem was that she cooked it too long or too high heat
I love the pasta roller in the background, suggesting that Joey actually does do a lot of proper cooking, but none of it has rubbed off onto Aki yet. :D
For the orange i would have seperated theorange slices out then put yhe mochi innthe center, this would give you an open flower with the peel being out oetals, the orange slices bein the inner petals, and the mochi being the center of the flower.
The one suggestion I would make is to get a digital laser thermometer. You are overheating your pan, hence the burning and discoloration. Non-stick pans should really never be heated over 450F or 232C or the properties of the non-stick become damaged. This will result in the finish wearing/flaking away earlier on and will need replacement sooner than later.
The more I see how cheap stuff is in Japan the more I crave to live there. Especially from her last video with the prosciutto chicken. Cause everything at my grocery stores just went up in price. Ground beef is 6 bucks a lb....
I absolutely love your cooking videos. It looked good. And you are hilarious in the kitchen. I also feel like I cook just like you sometimes, make messes, stare at, shoot it's burning, ow! "It I've been shot!" Lmao. Pop up nose - fell on floor!
That moment of “Damn I belong in the kitchen!” When you nail a recipe part or the whole thing just hits close to home!😂 Seriously looked appetising! If I have… -okay I’ll be optimist- when I’ll have a partner I’ll make them gourmet dishes like that… I’ll try…
I wanna try the pan fried steam bun! I love fresh flour tortillas by itself, but if you panfry it to do like a quesadilla.... SO GOOD! Lightly chared veggies are always lovely too! Marshmallows prove this too... Charring things make them better most of the time! (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Dude fried siopao is bomb in Chinatown in the Philippines. Forgot the street name but it's there. Been my fave since I was a kid. Also: If you would buy frozen buns/siopao, you can put it on the pan, put just the right amount of water then cover to steam. After that, remove bun, add oil, and fry.
That looked so good, I want to try to recreate that. I love this gourmet dish videos you do, please do more of these. And as always, great video! Much love!
When you talked about how you were going to use the corn puffs, you totally had Sōma Yukihira vibes from food wars. Just love he takes the snake out of his bag and uses that in his amazing dish.🌽
was for a second worried the bun wouldn’t have cooked in the middle when fried. Deep frying a whole bun would prob be really good though, if i had the confidence to not burn myself.
The face as she realized what she said 🤣 Aki I wish I could make a comment about you just grabbing the hot nikuman, but my own dumb ass has grabbed things with my bare hands in the kitchen too many times as well. Something about innate human nature. The sheer casual feel of the chaos in this video has amused me so greatly. Thank you. 😊 🙏
Yeah, I understand why Joey is cooking for you - it's just safer ;p btw Aki, I thought Japan would have lots of food markets, where people buy fresh stuff to cook.
I Luv this little series, it may be a fun idea to spice it up a little like having some of your friends come over and you do something similar to trash taste where you go into the stores with a budget to make a dish but you have certain challenges to fulfill and you can get bonus points. I'd like to see one where you can only cook items of one color.
Best way I've found to poach an egg is gently add it to a roaring boil for about 6-7 minutes then pick up the egg from the boiling water and put it in ice water to stop the cooking process
4:20 OMG! 🤣 The realization of what you just said hit like a whole wall of bricks huh? Sequence of events: Aki complains about the extortionate price of oranges, montage of madness, Aki throws a $1 orange on the floor! 🤣 I've only seen a few of your own videos so far, after seeing you on Tokyo Creative.. Man, there's definitely some fun to be had over here!
Its all look really good. Except for the weird orange alien octopus desert kinda thingy. I'm honestly thought you going for strawberry daifuku instead red bean. And i'm really happy gourment konbini dinner is back!
3 dishes for only 11 and some change? That's excellent! In the states (especially where I live) you're lucky enough to get 2 bags of chips and a soda with that money.
Hey Aki you should go visit the stone that broke in half that held a demon fox for over 1,000 years, I heard it just shattered a few days ago I wanna know more about that history 👀
Not fried but baked buns are being sold here in the Philippines. Hadn't tasted it yet cause expensive but it's probably good. Food looks good though. It's fun watching this, will this be another series or just randomly gonna be made?
i was watching this before i ate lunch and i was like this makes me want dumplings… so i went out and got some dumplings i’m gonna go pan fry them while finishing this :)
From teaching me to survive earthquakes to making food and taking care of plants aki turns more into a mom from each video
Honestly, I wanna call Aki.... Mama Aki...in a very non sexual way....
@@darkwolfag12 consensually of course
A mom that spends all her money on earthquakes and plants so she has to cook for the family with cheap food, jkjk i love her for that
with how chaotic she is in this video, her "children" would be dead already lol
Aki is turning into a mom, Joey is turning into a Mahjong and golf playing dad, perfect
Next time Have Joey pick a bunch of random ingredients for you to make dinner
YESSS
Please Aki it sounds awesome
Based
@@BasicYutuber how is it based it's just an idea
Yes
Aki: opens the hamburger steak
Me: alright, so she's gonna pour that onto the pan
Aki: sticks whole hand into package
That one about made me die laughing 🤣🤣🤣
That was my favorite part!
I thought that same thing cuz that's what I do. I burn myself cooking enough as it is. XD I was like, "Aki, why? Your wasting the sauce. Oh well."
Aki's cooking methods: questionable
Aki's eating methods: questionable
Aki: you know what, I tried !
Admirable attitude right there.
Poaching an egg in the microwave is a very new concept for me
It's also very Dangerous sadly. In most Cases the eggs explode either in the microwave or when you Open it.
I have an egg cooker that poaches the egg with steam
I've never seen it before.
@@kiwiholmes221 Amazon look there
I would pay for Joey's reaction haha. Not even his reaction trying it, but just you showing him this video and maybe rating what you made xD
Same! I want to see his reaction!
I totally agree 😩🤌🏻
Aki: "damn I belong in the kitchen!"
Also Aki: 😳😬😑
Lmao I also realized what she said and had the same reaction 🤔😂
One of my favourite moments! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
HELL
I'm like "Ayo what!? 😮"

finally another video of Aki's attempt on trying to make gourmet dish.
I love that she shows how we all secretly cook when no one is around. (fallen food, mistakes and all.)
lol yes! and how we all secretly eat too lol
We have a thing here in the Philippines called Toasted Siopao! You could try it as well with a toaster but I guess pan-frying it would be faster to make it crispy!
Aki made herself a cooking show on TH-cam 🤣 also you should bake a cake
You should make a cook book called “Aki’s one pan conbini recipes”
I absolutely love how gremlin like Aki can be when it comes to eating and preparing her meals! absolute gem of the world
That actually looks well good!
Oh dear~ 😂 That egg tryna escape the microwave lmao.
I'm Chinese and In china pan frying the bun is actually a really common way to heat up pre-made buns, it's really good especially in mornings when you have a few leftover steamed ones from last night! Also that looks delicious aki you be definitely been improving each time we see you cook!
Aki explodes an egg.
Joey: I sense a disturbance in the kitchen.
A few recommendations if i may..

Pan-fried buns are truly a diamond in the rough. I’m pretty sure Japanese Chinatowns sell them?

it's called toasted
That umibo is personally my favorite flavor that I've had so far and I never turn down trying an umibo flavor
Ah sweet I love it when Aki does cooking videos!
I was wondering how the egg would do as they're usually known for exploding in the microwave.
I have an egg poacher for the microwave and it works fine, but it only take 40 seconds and then you let it stand for 40 after. The problem was that she cooked it too long or too high heat
egg-splode
I love the pasta roller in the background, suggesting that Joey actually does do a lot of proper cooking, but none of it has rubbed off onto Aki yet. :D
Flashbacks to trash taste Michelin chef special
The cooking is very reminiscent to how "how to basic" does his cooking with the only difference here being that she is actually kinda serious hahaha

It's like the 'Drunky Aki Show' but she is totally sober! I love ❤️ it
Me dying every time Aki called the tangerine an orange. 😂😂😂
Japanese Conbini actually has 5-star Michellin stuff, imho

Fun fact, we already had fried siopao here in the philippines but it's actually rare to see any sold nowadays, I can't be bothered to know
I think baked siopaos are still around. Well they were that last time I had them. 18 years ago :p
LMAO i love how aki just paused after she said "damn i belong in the kitchen!"

Love this series
Baked, steamed, microwaved...bapao/bao is hard not to like, but definitely gonna try frying them in a pan
10:03 come over and you'll cook for us ?! I don't think your house'll be big enough for all of us !!

1:42 : I kid you not I got a pack of those sakura mochis in my tokyotreat box this month, they're soooo good! 🥰
Aki watching Aki cook: ah yes fun and relaxing~
Joey and all of us: O.o
That looked so good, I want to try to recreate that. I love this gourmet dish videos you do, please do more of these. And as always, great video! Much love!
That looked amazing honestly
This one went way better. I loved all the dishes here. My kiddo loved the orange "octopus"
Fried siopao is kinda pretty common here in Philippines. I remember I used to eat it as my merienda (afternoon snack) everyday
"I belong in the kitchen"
When you talked about how you were going to use the corn puffs, you totally had Sōma Yukihira vibes from food wars. Just love he takes the snake out of his bag and uses that in his amazing dish.🌽

she bought it already made from the convenience store so you don’t have to worry about that ☺️
Always a great day with aki
11:42 The Orange octopus to match your channel
Seriously we need more of these convenience store videos :D it's awesome you try to make cool gourmet food with them! Please make more :D
The face as she realized what she said 🤣

The 'octopus' dessert looks so cute🥰

I have never watched someone who radiates the same energy that I have when it comes to humor. I laughed aloud many times.
Aki using tongs to fry the corn killed me 😩
But still, I really enjoy this series and another great video Aki !
top tier cooking once again, AkI!
Honestly, even though I’m not that big on poached eggs I would totally eat that steak. Like, holy shit that looks really good
I was so happy youtube recommended this to me! I had completely missed this upload, I love how you do these fun cooking videos ^-^
This made my day. Definitely make another cooking video. Go crazy with your ingredients and let Joey be the judge.. he can score them as well
This is literally me when I make dinner too. The journey there is rough and yea questionable, but you know what you're right, it's about the result.
as a person who does and has watched cooking shows watching aki cook is hilarious well done mama aki your killing it
Its all look really good. Except for the weird orange alien octopus desert kinda thingy. I'm honestly thought you going for strawberry daifuku instead red bean.
And i'm really happy gourment konbini dinner is back!
You know, the more you cook the better you become. Keep at it 💪 👏
Great video Aki, everything you made looks oishi
The orange-daifuku combo suddenly reminded me of Korosensei when she said it looked like an octopus
fun fact: poaching an egg in the microwave can actually be very dangerous
They have steamers that work in a microwave. You poke a hole in the egg and it's fine
4:26 realizing the sexist implications of what she just said🤣🤣☠️
Aki's version of gourmet is stacking stuff. ❤️
3 dishes for only 11 and some change? That's excellent! In the states (especially where I live) you're lucky enough to get 2 bags of chips and a soda with that money.
i never really thought about pan frying siopao cuz i personally like it soft if its cold i just trow it in the microwave
My gods the comedic timing is perfect
Tentacle sama where ever he is watching you make that orange into an octopi , brought him joy
Love the food challenges ty
All we need is another Trash Taste special with all the girls vs the boys in a Shokugeki.
aki ur sketches were super cute!
Fried Pork bun actually sounds good. Might try it.
3:49 Aaahh, surprise knife in the camera!
why can aki sketch so good
I have that same egg poacher thing (that also has exploded in my microwave lol). You need to poke the yolk before microwaving
Hey Aki you should go visit the stone that broke in half that held a demon fox for over 1,000 years, I heard it just shattered a few days ago I wanna know more about that history 👀
This is one of the funniest cooking show I've ever watched. I love it😁
As a baking and pastry arts student, I appreciate all cooking videos. No matter how strange 😂😂
Not fried but baked buns are being sold here in the Philippines. Hadn't tasted it yet cause expensive but it's probably good.
Food looks good though. It's fun watching this, will this be another series or just randomly gonna be made?
Please, please make more videos like this!
I would love Akis cooking
I've missed Aki's Conbini series
I’d love to see more cooking from combinis please! Do another desert and a ramen variation!
so glad you did this again I love you doing dishes from the conbine (can't spell sorry)
Japanese food whether convenience store or not looks always good
It's truly American experience when you fry everything.....
Jokes aside great video...
i was watching this before i ate lunch and i was like this makes me want dumplings… so i went out and got some dumplings i’m gonna go pan fry them while finishing this :)
Love this series
