Well, at the very least, he’s one of the greatest World Of Outlaws drivers in recent history. Winning those three championships for Kasey Kahne’s team proves it.
As someone who actually knows Brad as a person (family friend) he definitely feels especially now that he just wasn’t ready for it but doesn’t regret the opportunity at all, he prefers dirt anyway.
I didn't remember him being that bad, then I saw all the replays and I was like, Oh Yeah... Of course a couple of those involved another bust in a bright green car.
Interesting installment of NASCAR Busts! Brad Sweet's situation reminds me of Steve Kinser's time in NASCAR... Both drivers are good in WoO, but abysmal in NASCAR.
Steve Kinser is a legend in my home town , Bloomington Indiana, went to school with his son Kurt. Didn’t know he was that big of a name nationally until I left home.
@@mikaelhaggard8031 Fair enough. Transitioning from dirt to pavement isn't easy, and the handling dynamics of a sprint car and a NASCAR spec stock car are completely different.
This was a driver I solely focused on in the early 2010s, especially after the move to Jr Motorsports. It was tough seeing yet another dirt legend struggle in the ranks of NASCAR. I'm glad though he has found major success in the world of sprint car racing. 🙌
He struggled because he got no seat time. 3 different teams 3 seasons 2010 he ran one race, 2011 he ran 17 races, 2012 didn’t have a ride 2013 he ran 18 races. Ain’t nobody ever been a superhero and kicked ass with that short amount of time.
He is in the same realm with Steve Kinser, Bryan Clauson, and Sammy Swindell. In that, he's an absolute beast in a dirt car, but didn't do well in NASCAR.
after watching all of those spins, I've come out more impressed than I went in. In the very few instances they were actually his fault, he hardly ever hit the wall hard enough to take him out of contention.
Dirt to asphalt is a huge transition, I don't feel he was rushed, but he had the sponsor. He made some amazing saves in those clips and half of those weren't his fault. You also didn't mention that he is Kyle Larson's brother-in-law.
For what it's worth, he did a damn impressive job controlling the car during a slide and keeping it off the wall. Goes to show why he was much more successful in sprint cars where sliding is the name of the game.
Another case of a driver who was rushed like Steve Wallace... He didn't made at least a full arca season By the way... Nascar Busts: Justin Labonte, Mike Dillon and Ray Black Jr.
Hi BFM, I have a recomendation for you: The most unlucky championship hangover: Johnny Benson, he won the Craftman Truck Series Champion in 2008 but in 2009 almost lost his life in ISMA supermodified accident at Berlin Raceway. After that he only run 5 races in 2010 and retire, I considered the accident as a career-ending crash
Fun fact: Sweet and Matt DiBenedetto are both from my hometown of Grass Valley, CA, and just 2 miles up the road is Alexander Rossi's hometown of Nevada City, CA.
I am a huge fan of Brad sweet in the world of outlaws series. I wish he did better in nascar, I think if tried nascar later in life, it would of made a major difference. Thanks for making another great video👍👍
I didn't know that Brad Sweet raced in NASCAR until now. By this time I wasn't really watching Nationwide or Truck series races, I was watching more Cup series races and World Of Outlaw races too.
You should do a bust video that is the exact opposite of this video. World of Outlaws Bust: Jeff Gordon. I’m not sure what information you could get for it.
As a World of outlaw fan and dirt vision subscriber it is really weird to see him in a stock car. He is legitimately one of the best sprinkler drivers ever live.
He went to my elementary school years before I did. My grandma got his autograph on a napkin and still has it lying around somewhere. She’s also been quoted as saying to him “Your gonna be in NASCAR someday.”
So I’ll say this having raced sprint cars most of my life and going to a late model two years ago. Making the adjustment from an open wheel car to a full fender heavier car is a very tough adjustment. It does take a lot of time and not a lot of guys are successful when doing it. I’ve also learned over the years as the xfinity and truck series has evolved into more a of a pay to play rent a ride type series vs a feeder/learning series a lot of teams no longer take the time and energy into developing new talent guys with promising talent are replaced fairly quickly for a less talented driver with the funds or sponsorship to rent the ride and both series have suffered with driver talent as a whole
Here's a situation where being a bust was the best thing that could have happened. Kasey obviously saw something he liked in Brad when they split the 38 and later the 5, because he's been driving for Kasey in World of Outlaws since he left NASCAR. Did I mention he's won the last 3 straight championships? And oh yeah, you might have heard of his brother-in-law- some guy named Kyle Larson.
As bad qs Sweet And Kinser did when trying to convert from WoO sprint cars to Nascar Stockcar racing I wonder what it would look like if a Nascar top driver who'd never driven or raced a sprint car setup, be given the wheel and turned loose on dirt with q pair of wings wrapped around them. They might look just as awful and out of their element.
All that slideways experience on dirt actually served Brad very well in the Nascar world, in that I never saw a driver spin a car that many time's with less damage done than he! 😳!! Too much, too early in his driving career, I feel like had he started a couple year's older, he would have been more seasoned mentally, & had much more success 🤷🏻♂️
I would love to see a David Stremme busts video maybe with some actual interviews and doing some digging around and connecting with some people, because I don't think many people know how successful he was in late models.
3/4 of the clips are another car hitting him inyo a spin or just right into the wall. Maybe a "bust" but the majority of his DNFs involved another car and contact he didn't initiate.
You can tell he had talent just based on the way he was able to save so many of his cars post-spin, unfortunately he didn't have enough talent not to spin in the first place lol
If he could've learned the necessary throttle control on worn tires most of these could've been avoided because as the amazing saves shown here prove, he can wheel a car
Well, at the very least, he’s one of the greatest World Of Outlaws drivers in recent history. Winning those three championships for Kasey Kahne’s team proves it.
And gonna win this year!!! The Big Cat is a World of Outlaws legend
And here we are he has 4 and is driving to his 5th title this year
Brad spun a lot in Nationwide. That's how I remember his NASCAR career to a tee.
Happy his WoO career is exponentially better.
Didn’t hit a lot of shit tho
Seemed to have good car control while spinning though
@@NASCAR_Junk Easy to do when you spin a sprint car almost 90 degrees sideways.

Wonder how he would do in a stock car at Bristol Dirt...
@@Dat-Mudkip that's what I'm thinking

Worked out for the best. Can't wait for him to come back to Australia
The only better thing about nascar is the paycheck.
Brad Sweet may have been sponsored by Great Clips…
…but as you see on track, those _clips_ were not that _great…_
I didn't remember him being that bad, then I saw all the replays and I was like, Oh Yeah...
Of course a couple of those involved another bust in a bright green car.
For as much as he struggled and spun he didn’t tear up that many cars. I’m impressed all those spins that he didn’t hit anything.
Interesting installment of NASCAR Busts!
Brad Sweet's situation reminds me of Steve Kinser's time in NASCAR... Both drivers are good in WoO, but abysmal in NASCAR.
But Brad had more starts in NASCAR than Steve.
Sammy swindell too
Steve Kinser is a legend in my home town , Bloomington Indiana, went to school with his son Kurt. Didn’t know he was that big of a name nationally until I left home.
Those guys started in nascar too late with no experience, or very little on pavement.

"Brad didnt do anything wrong, except get caught up in it". Well that pretty much sums up his whole nascar excursion lol
he was racing danica

Thats the problem, dirt drivers have habits that don't translate well to pavement
7:34 you hear the spotter getting frustrated they know he has a fast car and he doesn’t have a great strategy.
in other words, Brad Sweet was a modern day Steve Kinser, except he ran a lot better in NASCAR than Kinser ever did.

Ray Black Jr? A bust? Expectations were never too high for him.

Nascar bust: Joey Coulter

Future NASCAR bust video idea: Brandon McReynolds
Next should be Colin Braun in NASCAR. He’s a hell of an endurance racing driver, but he didn’t pan out in stock vehicles.
One last thing. The Big Cat is Ernie Ladd.

If those spins show me anything tho its that his car control was 100 lol. Guy had potential, just didn't go his way.
That guy in the green #7 in all these clips might also be called a bust
Nascar busts: Cale Gale

isnt he also larsons brother in law
Yea, Kyle married brads sister
Reminds me of Pastrana. Some guys are meant to drive slideways!
I have absolutely zero memory of him driving for Jr Motorsports.
Hometown outlaw hero LETS GO BIG CAT (on dirt)
Now look at how his brother in law is going in the hendrick 5 car 🤷🏻♂️
I believe that like a young college hotshot QB a young driver should work his way up, only a rare few can go up the ladder quickly imho !!!
He should become a damn drifter dude was hammering the gas mid spin and missing the wall. And he’s doing it repeatedly so it’s definitely skill lol.
Similar to Steve Kinser who had an incredible WoO career before and after NASCAR while he was a bust in NASCAR.
I'm not gonna lie he jsut seemed like the kind of guy that always ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time
Even when shes by another busty bust, its STILL DANICA THAT CAUSES THE ACCIDENT 😂😂😂
I wonder how would he do if he entered in either Trucks or Cup on Bristol dirt. Eldora or Knoxville in Trucks. If he had a good ride.
Happy Birthday Alex Bowman!
Nice Nirvana background music
Didn't they make a diecast for this driver back in like 2013 or 2014?
Yeah, 2013
His normal one and his pink great clips. I know he has at least two nationwide cars, not sure if they did the truck
You should do a nascar busts video about Rick Crawford
He really never hits the wall....
He does have a strong name in my opinion
You know what though, he is the king of keeping the car off that wall!
Sister Katelyn married Kyle Larson and Brad has a nephew Owen and a niece Audrey.
If anyone has a right to hate Danica Patrick it’s this guy he was screwed by her many times clearly
Not gunna sound like a compliment but it is: He was really good at spinning out and not wrecking it
Honestly, even though he is a bust, I admire his ability for most of the time when he spun, he was able to keep it off the wall or other cars.
You can tell he had talent just based on the way he was able to save so many of his cars post-spin, unfortunately he didn't have enough talent not to spin in the first place lol
I honestly completely forgot bout this guy
A nascar bust yes, Top 3 Dirt driver in the world? Absolutely. Talent is there I would love to see him have another shot in nascar
I knew I'd see this one at some point
The man may have spun alot but he never really ever tore the equipment up he always mostly saved it and minimal damage to the car
Honestly I think if he developed a little bit more and maybe tightened it up a little he could have been good
Dang it looked like half his wreck was either Danica or getting hella loose. 10 top 10s in 19 races ….seems like he shoulda got another chance. Sucks
If he could've learned the necessary throttle control on worn tires most of these could've been avoided because as the amazing saves shown here prove, he can wheel a car
At least Brad Sweet was better at NASCAR than Steve Kinser
Steve had Brett Bodines crap ride too though.
Quick Question would you consider COLIN BRAUN and Bust or Not a Bust!?
