Francis on the front end embarking on this epic adventure fresh off his crash...now Lawrence reduced to a single gear that only serves to increase the pressure on his injured wrist...and James needing to step up his humor to boost morale...if not for the challenges, your adventure would be a bit less epic. It's truly epic and hugely inspirational. Thanks guys.
I like the comradery that you guys are displaying as you work in unison to help Lawrence uphill ..it is kinda like the early days of the Tour de France were everyone rode single speeds and conquered the difficult hiils together.. just like you guys did....real teamwork.Cant wait to see the next vlog.
Loving these vids - and having two views of the same trip. Really interesting to see racers touring. Also to see you all getting more and more eccentric! Making memories!
We call it a machine shop here in the US. But the real question is why on a part so common (and designed to fail rather than crack a frame) nearly every bike model has to be different? Should be a handful of different styles (thru axle or not, road vs. MTB) at most so every (and I mean every) bike shop could carry all the types and you would be set and back on road in no time. As it is there's a "Top-50 Derailleur Hanger" website :O wheelsmfg.com/top-50-derailleur-hangers.html
I feel sorry for Lawrence with hand problem, wish him recover fast. He looks down with it . Super vlog Francis. Kindly in future do some vlog about how to maintain power rider. Waiting for next vlog so badly
I honestly feel bad for Lawrence. It feels like the pain is hitting him hard and the broken mech situation makes it worser. Hope errythin gets better in the coming days! But when I first saw the title I thought you forgot to charge your di2 like previous times
Just had to stop this to say thank you for getting me though this covid binge watch, and I need to say watching this is just like the top gear or the new grand tour you 3 bounce off each other so well.
I'm glad you're having fun, but not too much fun. And 13 miles an hour is plenty fast. And surely I grin. But really, setbacks and suffering make for great storylines and good times, in a cycling sort of way. Thanks for the video, Francis, and truly, I hope you guys are having a lot of fun in California. And just so Lawrence knows, a lot of supermarkets have a discount bakery rack in the morning with goodies from the day before--and you can get sweet rolls slathered in gooey icing at half off. Such a deal.
I think all hangers anymore come from Wheels Manufacturing in Colorado. Enjoy the cultural optimism of beautiful California. Thanks for these awesome vlogs on your epic journey.
I like how while watching the video, the targeted ads say budget fixed gears and the first bike on the list is a $9000 track bike followed by a $199 bike
Just discovered your channel man and I've been binge watching like 20+ videos already lol. Fucken love your stuff, so entertaining, informative and beautiful. Thank you for the effort, keep it up.
You're cycling through one of my favorite parts of CA. There are lots of cyclists in Santa Rosa and north - maybe one of them will spot your posts and lend Lawrence a hand.
one gear-how many teeth on front crank wheel, how many teeth on rear sprocket? pedaling can be easy or hard depending on the gear. my freewheel fell apart and I had to push my loaded bike 40 miles to bike shop. touring is 50% physical/50% mental. you can always reach deep down inside and find the strength to go on to the next telephone pole, and then the next pole after that, and so on.
This was particularly painful to watch. We’ve seen Lawrence tired, sleepy, and hungry. But to see him physically broken, with morale this low, is too much. I won’t post spoilers for anyone who isn’t following you guys on social media, but you made the right decision. Hope the remainder of your trip is free of any more problems. Stay safe boys!
Awesome to see you guys back on the road! Do you shoot in 60fps and slowdown in post for the slow motion sequences? Love all different shots you get on the bike
Hey guys, if you're still in Bodega Bay there happens to be a custom bike builder by the name of of Jeremy Sycip in Santa Rosa. Perhaps there's a chance he could possibly solve your issue. Just look up Sycip bikes. I would've gladly loaned you one from my stable if you were still in Oaktown. Good Luck.
Troopers!! just horrible timing.. After spending a few days in the Bay Area, the night b4 you all leave, to have issues like that. We are pulling for you Lawrence!!!
no triple crankset, no really low gear for nasty headwinds, climbing mountains/steep grades on loaded bike. Spend 150 dollars for cheap easily repaired triple crank 21 speed low "granny gear" mail order even walmart bike. ride it 1000 miles replace cheap wheels, bottom bracket, pedals or buy another cheap bike. easy to do in any u.s city that has a walmart etc. buy 26" wheel mtb, 26" tires, tubes, brake pads, cables etc. are in drug/varity store in any town that doesn't have a bike shop. 700 size tires, tubes are harder to find in small towns.
Thru-axle mech hangers are generally unique by bike model. So unfortunately with Ribble being very UK based you'll never find it in the States (regardless of city size).
Sup FC...you cats gonna ride Big Sur?? Next trip come to New York...summers are obscenely lush golden and green...ride the great Lakes man...you wont regret it homie...north coast rules...give shout out to LC...hope his arm is ok...maybe he should get it checked out...give shout out to J...later FC
you guys need to bike to Lagunitas or Russian River, or 21st Amendment right in San Fran. James will be blown away if Anchor is the best he's had, no offence to them, but there is much better beer than that. OH Bear Republic is amazing too. Russian River's Pliny the Elder is one of the best beers in the world. And Lagunitas has about the best vibe of any brewery i've been to. Bike, drink, and Lawrence can catch up to you on his single speed. :)
Lawrence is an absolute legend for pressing on! Ride safe and have fun guys.
Totally addicted to these vlogs.
James needs his own TH-cam channel. I could watch him talk crap for hours while killing myself laughing.
we have the same thoughts mate.
Best wishes for Lawrence , hope his hand heals quick , all the best guys!!!!!

It's not an adventure when everything goes to plan.
Loving these vids - and having two views of the same trip. Really interesting to see racers touring. Also to see you all getting more and more eccentric! Making memories!
Straight to an engineering shop chaps, they could whip you a hanger up in an hour.
Enjoy the rest of the trip guys, loving this series.

@@michaelglidewell1524 I agree. They work basically the same. There's no reason for there to be a couple hundred designs.
Gutted for Lawrence with the wrist/bike issues. I know you guys can persevere! Ride on!
I feel sorry for Lawrence with hand problem, wish him recover fast. He looks down with it . Super vlog Francis. Kindly in future do some vlog about how to maintain power rider. Waiting for next vlog so badly
This is getting better and better every time haa. Best of luck guys!
I honestly feel bad for Lawrence.

Right on.....I just rode 300 miles with a fixed gear ..and boy are my knees sore...
Why not swap the cogs around in the cassette to move a suitable one in line with the chainring?
John Schofield oooh that's a very very interesting point
who rides around with chain whip and cassette tool?
@@thesimplecooks They did stop in at a bike shop.
Brilliant.
Good to see you guys making it through the recent obstacles. Lawrence earned himself a nice seat on some logs after that ride
Anchor Steam beer is soooo-good. Glad he tanked up for the road
James have solutions for everything! Saves the day!!!
Just had to stop this to say thank you for getting me though this covid binge watch, and I need to say watching this is just like the top gear or the new grand tour you 3 bounce off each other so well.
can someone make a jump up drum and bass tune with 4:58 just before the drop?

Give that Lawrence a big hug and a tickle round the chops, Lawrences love a good little tickle round the chops, they do!
Just discovered your channel man and I've been binge watching like 20+ videos already lol. Fucken love your stuff, so entertaining, informative and beautiful. Thank you for the effort, keep it up.
You've done the hack/bodge well guys, now I'm waiting for extreme corner.
Great video have fun guys. Well jealous!
Keep strong guys, feeling for poor Lawrence at the moment can’t be easy for him! However the banter between you and James is classic
You're cycling through one of my favorite parts of CA. There are lots of cyclists in Santa Rosa and north - maybe one of them will spot your posts and lend Lawrence a hand.
No Gears Just Ride...Your current adventures remind me of field exercises in the US Cavalry.
Long day with only one gear, nice work boys
you guys are wild, lawrence brushing his teeth was super funny hope he gets his bike part ok and fast
Well done, tough day. Hope Lawrence gets sorted asap. 🤞
One gear, brutal! Good thing y’all are in proper beast mode!
You have probably sorted it by now but you could re-order the sprockets on your cassette so that you have a good chain line for the gear you want
Thomas Tarr smart thinking
Was just about to suggest this too.
Francis, one ferry ride way from Alameda. Come on by!
Hi, what is the chest camera strap you use? Looks pretty nifty. Cheers. Not jealous of your ride at all. Honest.
Custom made!
Bodge or Hack, thats defiantly a good hack with the mech.... Keep spinning chaps...

yeeeesh looks like a tough day...and chilly. You know there's an actual sunny, dry, warm summer back here yeah?! hehe

James is the Gordon Ramsay of the bike world.
Awesome to see you guys back on the road! Do you shoot in 60fps and slowdown in post for the slow motion sequences? Love all different shots you get on the bike
A mix of framerates!
Mega series guys!
James is going to be the only one who weighs more at the end of this. :)
Lesson learned always carry a spare hanger or two with you on trips away from home.
You should probably have reminded them about tubeless tyres also
Loving the vids man. Such a cool adventure. How long do you have in Portland before flying back?
24 hours!
When will you be passing through Humboldt County?
Agreed, Anchor Steam, best beer 🍺 ever at least here in California, great beer for a great city
"More Aero" Should be a T-shirt in itself. I'd Buy it.
"Anchor on draft"❤🍺
Unless you have a full one piece cassette, why don't you rearrange the order of the cogs to pick a better gearing?
I thought this, there was a reason we couldn't do it
PIER 23!!! Lots of good times there. Did you see/send a PIER 23 postcard from there? Its the BEST postcard in the world!

Oh god, don't tell Lawrence
Francis Cade hahahahhhahaa bastard
May I ask what are y'all gear ratio???
They discussed it in the first or second video, I think.
“Bad-ass dude.” *drinks*
#ProjectUSADrinkingGame
Troopers!! just horrible timing.. After spending a few days in the Bay Area, the night b4 you all leave, to have issues like that. We are pulling for you Lawrence!!!
Knew James is the man. He loves Anchor Steam beer!
And heres me thinking I was stupid for carrying my spare derailleur hanger in my saddle pack on every ride. Poor Lawrence
On James Instagram question: two beers mid ride is proper carb loading.
I'm surprised that you guys didn't stop to enjoy some iconic SF food such as sour dough clam chowder, cioopino, etc.

Rearrange the cassette. Or get spacers and pick a ring from the cassette if it isn't one piece
Lawrence is a beast just keep it up mates. Also that's not a moose...
Cuando vienes a México con tus cuates
Tomorrow will better (gotta be). Best of luck gents.
That really sucks. Hard to believe a town that size you can't find a part.make James and Francis use same gear ha ha ha
Thru-axle mech hangers are generally unique by bike model. So unfortunately with Ribble being very UK based you'll never find it in the States (regardless of city size).
Trent Folan that sucks. Hopefully they'll get one flown in. I've only seen one bike with one in it didn't pay attention to it
Why not take two chains, one for bigger, one for lower then swap as needed.
whats with Lawrence and dogs? what did i miss?
He looks like a fluffy dog
Francis Cade Does that happen after the usual "one" beer? 😉
WOAH ONLY ONE GEAR?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE. I HAVE SEVERAL GEARS. ONE GEAR IS SO FEW GEARS. ABSOLUTE MAD LADS.
hahahahaha
a single speed conversion kit would have been easy to get hold of surely?
Sup FC...you cats gonna ride Big Sur?? Next trip come to New York...summers are obscenely lush golden and green...ride the great Lakes man...you wont regret it homie...north coast rules...give shout out to LC...hope his arm is ok...maybe he should get it checked out...give shout out to J...later FC
Hack or bodge Lawrence
thats the one
Great vlog... did you guys bring a bike lock on your trip or did that not make the essentials cut?
I did a quick rundown of my gear before the trip, got a Hiplok Z lock combo with me, really light and handy!
Francis Cade he hasn’t used it once
i wear baseball cap backward to protect my neck from the sun so there
Bodega Bay where Hitchcock filmed the movie The Birds
MOOSE? that is a deer
Wait, I thought he was carrying a spare hanger?
You know, if you had planned to do the ride on a single speed...everything woulda been grand?
eXCUSE ME, fRANCIS cADE
James is a Pack Mule so he will end up dropping the most weight at the end of all this.
Looks like you guys lost a bit of your mojo, while falling back to "civilization", best of luck for the next days and rides... Keep it going

im drinking Lagunitas right now!
It’s bodge vs. hack, Lawrence. Don’t you English boys watch GCN? Lol.
Jeffrey Reichel not really 😅 it’s a bit to advert heavy for most (buy SiS) of (buy SiS) our (buy SiS) tastes!
That's not a moose that's a cow
Is it okay to say that I like SkepticalLookingJames more than BikeFitJames? 🤔
Bodge or Hack
Badger
Not a moose.
Could be great videos, shame about the language. No need for so much swearing if you want to appeal to larger audience.
Yeah I figured, I'll try and bleep it in the future
Already great videos.
Francis Cade be who you are.
